^^^^^^ Exactly!

And they would achieve all that on simple word-of-mouth advertising. No Super Bowl commercials needed.

If Hubbard just got each member (including himself) to bring in an average of one additional member per year, everyone on the planet would be a Scientologist by 1983. Here's how it would work:

1950 - 1 Scientologist (LRH)
1951 - 2
1952 - 4
1953 - 8
1954 - 16
1955 - 32
1956 - 64
1957 - 128
1958 - 256
1959 - 512
1960 - 1024
1961 - 2048
1962 - 4096
1963 - 8192
1964- 16,384
1965 - 32,768
1966 - 65,536
1967 - 131,072
1968 262,144
1969 524,288
1970 1,048,576
1971 2,097,052
1972 4,194,104
1973 8,388,208
1974 16,776,416
1975 33,552,832
1976 65,105,664

1977 130,211,328
1978 260,422,656
1979 520,845,312

1980 1,041,690,624
1981 2,042,381,248
1982 4,084,762,496
1983 8,169,524,992

Note, the world population back in '83 was only about 4.7 billion, so this calculation would take into consideration the ones who died since 1950.

Certainly it IS fair to expect each member to bring in an average of one additional member per year IF we're talking about a discovery more significant than the invention of the wheel, which was what was asserted in Dianetics, Book I:
https://tonyortega.org/wp-content/c...ianetics-part-2-the-state-of-clear/index.html

From 1983 onwards everyone would just need to co-audit each other up to Clear, and voila, we have a Cleared planet!

Only problem being is that not a SINGLE Clear has been created as of yet with the abilities promised by Hubbard.

More people wanted a Pet Rock than what Hubbard was selling:
Very good demonstration!
No need for further discussion :)

Yeh, he was counting cards, for sure, but there are a lot of methods for card counting in Blackjack, from the simplest (how many face cards have been turned so far and how many are left?) to more complex methods and systems that group the cards.

I've won a lot of money at Blackjack many years ago, but no more. Nearly every casino has six-deck automatic shufflers. Two-deck is countable, six-deck is ridiculous.

If a casino sees a player winning too much, they either change dealers or put a ringer at an open seat to mess up the cards for the players. When there's a dealer change, the new dealer is usually an old hand at it and knows how to take out the good players. I've had it happen and seen it happen countless times.

Then there's the stupid players going by intuition that make dumb plays and mess it up for the other players. Plenty of those around that mess things up without the casino's help. They have a knack for jumping in just as the players have spent an hour or two working up to a good run to finally get the win going and they jump in because it's "a lucky table." Hardly! It takes forever to get the cards to fall where you want them and get smart players at the table who all play them right. It takes huge self-discipline not to lose everything before you get to that point, too.

Casinos cheat, too, at all of the games, including Blackjack. I know that for a fact, I worked at one of the top US accounting firms that used to audit the big casinos. They even cheated during audits (and they have warnings of at least a few days of when the audits are coming, too). They use everything from magnets to extra aces in the decks to paid employees sitting at tables.

It's frustrating and ridiculous. The casino will win, and it will get you addicted in the process, too, always hoping to get your money back. Been there, done that, walked away from it years ago.
That's a very interesting post Sheil. Only thing I'd take issue with is I'm not sure how an 'old hand' dealer knows how to 'take out' the good players.

Yes, what infuriates real players is some jerk in the last box drawing a card on 14 when the dealer is showing a 5 for example. I've seen fights break out in cases like that.

Gamblers only talk about their wins. They never talk about how they lost it all and so much more.
I remember once at Flag there was a guy onlines getting lots of expensive auditing. His profession was "gambler". Horrors!!!! LOL. Because. . .

Wasn't there some HCOB or HCOPL about how gambling is an out-ethics or anti-social or otherwise "evil" reactive dramatization or "criminal" activity? I vaguely recall that it was one of those issues that suddenly (out of nowhere) condemns something nobody had any problem with--ever--until Hubbard "discovered" that it was some part of a vast intergalactic/wholetrack conspiracy to enslave all beings in the universe. . .

So how was this shamefully "out ethics" gambler allowed to be on advanced levels and getting NOTs or whatever? LOL. I guess that purpose is senior to policy (cash is senior to fucking everything, lol). Same reason a person who had ever been on "psych lines" was forbidden from ever getting onto OT levels---or even getting auditing for that matter!! Except, like this one time when this lovely man (Marshall Goldblatt) had electro-shock (seriously) and was allowed to do Ls and OT levels and NOTs and every other rundown imaginable that ever appeared on a Flag pricelist. Hmmmm, "psych cases" cannot get case gain, or so the legend goes----so they cannot be audited. But, when a "psych case" has a ton of money, apparently gains are possible (capital gains for the leader of Scientology).

There are many other examples of when gamblers, psych cases and other "untouchables" came into existence out of nowhere!

Like this one time when I thought that making people laugh was a good thing and then I found out that "Jokers & Degraders" were a really, really bad thing. Or like this one time, when I thought that sex was really exciting and fun and then found out that sex was part of "Pain & Sex" and was a really, really bad implant. Or like this one time (when I was in band camp).........

THE GAMBLER

An obsessive gambler is a psychotic just like a drug addict or an alcoholic.

They are handled the way you handle any other psychotic. They don’t have to do anything for real in life because it all depends on chance and never on themselves. So you have them on the minus Effect Scale.

Life isn’t real to a psychotic gambler and therefore they never really buckle down to anything. Consequences are unreal to them and criminal acts are incomprehensible as nothing is real anyway.

Getting off overts is nothing to such people because they are not there and take no responsibility for them. Everything else is responsible—not them. Thus you have to find the trail to the R/Ses on the subject and discharge those.

This aspect of such a case is the emergency number one handling.

It has to be recognized for what it is—PSYCHOSIS.

So, um, I guess it's quite ethical for a church to take all a gambler's money, assets and earthly possessions, before they gamble them away on dreamy unrealistic bets.

Better for the Church of Scientology to commandeer their money and store it in a super-secure place, safeguarding their money and future---by keeping it on their org account---betting on going OT, that's a sure thing!

Yes, the double-standards and the cognitive dissonance that goes hand-in-hand with anything to do with scientology is truly astounding.

The conviction that we were all engaged on a critical mission to save mankind from himself trumped any questions like "Why is it that a powerful new process that was 'guaranteed to crack any and all cases' yesterday, has now been consigned to the rubbish bin today?"

As an inveterate drug-taker, when Hubbard started pontificating about LSD in the late sixties it was obvious to me he didn't have a fucking clue what he was talking about. But still I believed. DOH!

I have to admit, we wuz all living deep within cringe territory. WTF wuz I thinking? LOL

Anyways, as you say the most powerful new process that "handles everything" was dumped on a regular basis.

Like this one time, when.....

When Dr. Hubbard announced to the world that he had discovered the "cure for insanity". Well, actually he discovered the cure for insanity at least a half-dozen times that I can instantly recall. Like this one time when Ron discovered that POWER PROCESSES could cure the insane.

Or like this one time when Ron discovered that Expanded Dianetics could cure the insane.

Or like this one time when Ron discovered that the INTROSPECTION RUNDOWN could cure a psychotic break.

Or like this one time when "Dianetics The Modern Science of Mental Health" could make a clear in "under 20 hours of processing" and cure all neuroses and psychoses.

Or like this one time when Dr. Hubbard announced to the world that although he had (many times) found the cure for insanity, he was forbidding all insane people from getting any auditing. And he made it a "HIGH CRIME" to ever allow an insane person to receive any auditing. And Scientology has been proven to "cure cancer" but it is also a "SUPPRESSIVE ACT" to allow anyone with cancer to get auditing. Church "scripture" mandates that all Scientologists must promote these life-saving miracles but never perform them.

Don't worry about it making sense. Ron rose above human thought and reason. If you don't get it, no problem---a Scientologist can clay demo this for you and they feel good about it.

It does make one cringe, and what makes me cringe more than anything else is the way that I felt justified in treating people in an atrocious manner because it was 'all for the greater good ...'

As a young boy I don't think I ever loved anyone more than I loved my elder brother. Some years later I was an ethics officer and once called him into my office and ripped into him for some 'transgression' or another, scientologically speaking. Looking back at that makes me more than want to cringe, it makes me want to cry.

This toxic cult will have you destroy anything that was precious to you, your friends, your partner, your family, everything.

This is exactly it...the very same for PTS.

Ron not only discovered PTS and described and defined it but he solved it. And then immediately made it illegal for any PTS person to get it.

BRILLIANT! It's like having the transmission in your car go out and the only place in town that knows anything about transmissions and their repair refuses to accept anything less than fully operational, in perfect repair transmissions.

______________________________________________

The other thing that fits with this is the post I put up of Ron's recruit cycle.

It's hilarious. Hubbard, himself, couldn't even come close to passing his own bulletins and policy letters to hold a minor position in a local HCO let alone holding ANY executive position in any of his "churches". The SO? forggeddaboutitt

. . . and the transmission place that sells the miracle transmission repair cure has a policy that they are only allowed to sell the transmission cure to people whose transmission is working.

It doesn't have make sense, it's Scientology--so it only has to make cents.

According to the late Robert Vaughn Young (see video bel0w beginning at 2:45), Dr. Denk was in Reno, Nevada on a gambling trip with David Miscavige and other Scientologists when Hubbard had his stroke. Denk had to travel 400 miles back to the ranch. This is a 6-7 hour drive. This is a critical post-stroke period during which Hubbard received no medical care.

Dr. Crobe is a "cellologist" specializing in body augmentation, who was snapped up by the Coordinated Information Apparatus after getting in trouble for using his talents to create abominations. Now he makes nightmarish chimeras and other products for the black market freakshow circuits, because Voltarians pay good money to look at a woman whose breasts and buttocks have swapped places. When not committing crimes against humanity, Crobe's skills with biology may be put to use by other characters, assuming he doesn't decide to change careers over the course of the story.

I'm not sure I understand you TOBB (you know me, old shitforbrains), but by the way he is described above, this Dr. Crobe would dovetail well into any Burroughs novel methinks.
