Meet Diva Gustafsson, who for the Church of Scientology accused her "friend" of lying about childhood sexual abuse.

[NOTE: I created a new thread so Diva Gustafsson is not deprived of the Google search indexing she deserves and is entitled to.]

From Aaron Smith Levin, who appeared on the first season of Scientology and the Aftermath.

The best thing Remini could do is just flood her program with episodes of the other instances of the church covering rape, statutory rape, etc.

I've never understood why any church (Scientology, the Catholic Church etc) would try to cover up stuff like this). Far better to shine the disinfecting light of truth on it, and get the perps out of the organisation. Unless, of course, the whole church is rotten to the core.... Oh, wait...yes...I see now.

Church's are "above the law" and they attract criminals that can hide out in them.

That is why they do it...because THEY CAN -

It is time to Abolish the Religious Cloak.

    Shall we start a petition?

All Churches need to abide by the Laws of the Land!

Broadway star, singer, and (formerly prominent) still Scientologist James Barbour had a 14 year old girl perform fellatio on him in his dressing room. He hired a high priced attorney who plea bargained his case. This isn't OSA's first rodeo.

    Good post.

Around 1982 there was the widely sold OTC product TYLENOL, that (after being tainted) killed 7 people within a few days. The CEO of parent company Johnson & Johnson, took the unprecedented action of quickly doing a full recall of all such products from all shelves nationally.

The cost was staggering. Over $100M.

    The brand Tylenol crashed.

J&J took a stock price and revenue hit, since Tylenol represented nearly 20% of their revenues.

The outcome was (after a sufficient amount of time) ultimately spectacular. Eventually, Tylenol went back on the market, at a greatly reduced market share. Eventually the sales recovered and the company didn't perish in a maelstrom of public relations meltdowns and lawsuits. They spent their way out of it, in a sense, but NOBODY BEFORE THAT had ever taken the stunning bold move to "get out in front of the disaster" proactively.

That entire story became the "bible" of crisis management. In fact, it sparked the birth of a massive new industry--crisis management, and the army of crisis consultants, crisis specialists, crisis turnaround masters, et al. Now every major corporation, politician and celebrity has a drill when such a cataclysmic event happens. They go directly to "crisis management" mode.

Again, the first order of business is for the CEO (best case) or at least a profoundly credible spokesperson to gather the media and hold a major press conference; followed by many more multi-media releases later in the weeks and months to follow. At that pivotal event, the CEO admits to the disaster, takes complete responsibility for it and lays out the plan of action to make it all come right. This is a stunning drill to watch when it is done right.

By contrast, Scientology does the complete opposite. . .

They pull their curtains, figuratively and literally. Hiding of every kind then commences. Hiding from reporters, hiding the facts, et al.

The CEO (COB) is nowhere to be found. Not a peep.

And even more shockingly, there is NO SPOKESPERSON either!

The COS might release a written dummied up "statement" (in writing) to the media, signed by "Karen Pouw", someone nobody in the media knows or ever sees. It's just a phantom name.

And rarely, David Miscaviges personal lawyer (tax atty, Monique "Blinky" Yingling) makes a quick appearance to unnerve everyone with a ridiculous portfolio of nervous ticks, fluttering blinks and eyeballs moving around like someone on LSD playing ping pong. Horrific mess, the diametric opposite of what a crisis spokesperson is supposed to look like, act like and speak like.

The word "sleazy" instantly comes to mind.

Scientology has NO crisis drill other than the one divined by Hubbard in the 50's and 60's; consisting for the most part of A) LYING B) ATTACKING INNOCENT PEOPLE WITH DEAD AGENTING AND EQUALLY DISGRACEFUL GIMMICKS C) FAIR GAMING PEOPLE USING BLACK OPS, HARASSMENT, STALKING, FELONIOUS CRIMES & TERRORISM.

Naturally, the previous paragraph of tactics magnifies the meltdown 100-fold.

About 7 years ago, I actually wrote a post on this message board, explaining to David Miscavige exactly how he could repair and re-boot Scientology and escape the swirling death spiral they are in. My post was funny, but everything I said was 100% accurate and would have actually worked. I wrote a real game plan, knowing that there was no slightest possibility in hell that anyone in Scientology would ever follow it. But, again, it would have restored life, vibrancy and revenues to the dying cult. I won't bother looking up the link, but the first step was to find/recruit a reassuring, calm, confident, believable, loving and lovable spokesperson (think someone like Tom Hanks or Jimmy Stewart. Someone who exudes kindness (think Dalai Lama). Hubbard actually did that (sorta) back when he put John McMaster in charge of worldwide PR. He was greatly loved and extraordinarily successful at attracting customers.

Hubbard found that threatening, so within about 18 months of declaring him "THE WORLD'S FIRST CLEAR", Hubbard also declared John "THE WORLD'S FIRST SP DECLARED CLEAR".

CONCLUSION: Scientology can't do a proper fire drill. Their volunteer firemen, courtesy of Hubbard policy, all have fire-hoses attached to tanks of gasoline.

I believe that Karin Pouw is an actual person, locked away somewhere in the same place as Heber and other Sea Org members. When Miscavige needs a written statement for the media he writes it, sends his assistant to bring it to Karin for a signature, and then the statement is issued in her name despite her playing no role in composing the statement.

Re: Diva Gustafsson, who 4 Scientology accused her friend of lying re child sexual ab

This was part of my road out...when issues arose it was discovered that those in power who could do something...instead of sincere or geniune concern for justice their entire role, goal and purpose was "to make Scientology look good".

Somehow, instead of doing the right thing thus ensuring that Scientology looked good they covered shit up...in an effort to look good. Factually I was explained that to serve the greater good in order to prevent "bad PR"...nevermind the fact that PR is Public Relations and I was paying Public...that wasn't the concern...the concern was all about a potential nebulous public that didn't even exist...at any rate the entire goal was to gloss over and keep it under wraps.

Then good old enantiodromia kicks in and all their fuss and fret efforts make the slimy church look bad.

It's because the church is not trying to do the right thing. It is trying to appear like it's doing the right thing.

The funny thing is if it just did the right thing all of the PR and image would fall in line. Instead it always strives to deceive.

Where would it get such notions?

Yes, I know. Of course Karin Pouw is a real person.

    All Scientologists begin that way.

Good post. I especially like the line:

There is another thing you mentioned that made me pause to think a moment:

In 97.5% of the world, that is true. But Scientology is part of what I will term "THE 2.5% SCIENTOLOGY EXCEPTION RULE". The exception is that if Scientology (like any fraudster or organized crime figure) tells the public the truth, that is called a "confession"! And, they immediately get sued to death and taken off in shackles to prison.

That's the problem with Ponzi schemers like Bernie Madoff, L. Ron Hubbard and David Miscavige. The financial and case "gains" were nonexistent. Because there was no product/service in the first place.
