Hello Everyone, Good to see Im not the only SP - Ex Sea Org INCOMM

With all the attention on Scientology lately I was curious to see if there was a discussion board like this. Its strange that even some 20+ years later Scientology still gives me the chills.

I was a Sea Org member recruited eventually to serve within INCOMM as the CLASS IV REG IC. To this day I am still impressed with the tech that Scientology was managing at the time.

I was recruited out of a Class IV Org in Santa Barbara not long after my first military discharge. I was days away from being evicted from my apt and looking for a job downtown where I ran into a Reg on the street. 1 Week later, I'm stacked up 3 high in the "dorm" apts on Fountain St in Hollywood. My first Sea Org job, outside of the 6 days a week of classes, was working in the kitchen prepping huge vats of Oatmeal and taking turns running the dishwasher. How lucky was I to get a weekly stipend of $30 and a few free hours on Sunday to wash my clothes! Anyone in the 90's remember the convenience store just down the street from INCOMM that offered a few Arcade Games? That was my escape for a few hours each night.

Apparently my aptitude and auditing demonstrated a bigger role and it wasn't long before I entered INCOMM.

Months and months of clay demos, looking up the definition of "IF" and "THE" and I reach a point where I start asking questions in the class. Report, Auditing, Report, Auditing, I am eventually given a warning. Amazingly they move me out of the dorms and into a room just behind the Scientology building (I forget the street) with another long term Sea Org member who is OT3 (who was really an amazing person, she was one of the old time euro recruits who came over after Scientology was booted from Spain). I am managing some 360+ Class IV Reg Reports and apparently doing well enough they are trying to keep me happy.

A young friend of mine visits my room late one night and tells me that his parents have gone "downline". Presumably they joined Watchdog and apparently felt their own son was a detraction. 2 days later hes labelled a suppressive and booted. He's 17 years old. His parents were never naturalized. He has spent his entire life in Scientology, his day job is at Bridge Pub. Ultimately he's deported to NZ as his parents cant be located and they have completely "Disconned". 2 weeks later I exit INCOMM and keep walking.

With just the clothes on my back and maybe $10 in my pocket I am alone, homeless and an SP. Before long I re-up with the Army and put my life back on a positive track.

I am very happy the truth is starting to grow bigger than even the machine of Scientology can handle. I saw so many things during my tenure that should have shook me out of my trance. How about hiding away people from the police with door after door of push locks. Just getting to my office took getting through 8 uniquely keyed doors.

Anyways, its good to know I am not alone and was well justified to leave even though it took me far too long. Thanks for the forums and am looking forward to reading other peoples stories.

Until now I have never spoken publicly about my role in the Sea Org.

I have seen that INCOMM story and it doesn't surprise me. When I was fully invested I'd have lined up too. I left shortly before this event and I know that INCOMM was going through a period of establishing its relevance.

Quite by accident during my brief time being homeless (after I left INCOMM) I was caught up in a story about Santa Monica. In the course of my interview I was asked how I ended up on the beach and I mentioned my last address on Fountain. Next thing I know this guy named Jim(or Jeff?) Garcia with a local TV network came out and asked me about Scientology. I had never mentioned my role but apparently Scientology owns that whole block so he connected the dots. I declined the interview. He tried everything to get me to answer questions and was confused given my current circumstances why I would not want to tell my story.

I am sure many here know exactly why I declined. Just a week or so separated I was still waiting for some blow-back. I had field deployments in the Army that never compared to the fear I felt right after leaving the Sea Org. I had been an INCOMM IC, just 2 doors down from the center server. I had heard all the stories of "Downline" and "Watchdog" whether they were true or not, I was more than a little scared.

One of my tasks at one point was to draw up an "Official" Sea Org Management flow chart. For this I was escorted for a day throughout the facility to validate my effort and obtain a full visual. Remember, See it, Touch it, Do it, Finish Cycle? I remember being shown the Signature Org building that included the Authors Org, a faceless, barren, windowless building where no one entered or left, ever. At least that's how it was revealed to me. I actually made it into the Flag Offices for the first time. The barren looks and lack of interaction was jarring. This was at a period of lots of drama and control issues, a whole other story. Class IV Orgs have solvency battles, Sea Org management have battles of control and influence, believe it. In fact the chart I finished was only adopted by INCOMM because of problems with how connecting lines showed relationships between Orgs. Perhaps things have changed over the years but I doubt it.

I had a friend who was on the bus with me from Santa Barbara for my first trip to Hollywood. I ran into her at breakfast months later and learned that she was working across the street at the AA ORG(? The Reg Org right there, sorry I don't remember many of the names anymore). She was so happy and was part of the commissioned sales staff there that everyone envied. Someone reported me for talking with her, lol. I never even mentioned I worked at INCOMM. Constant paranoia, constant validation, constant auditing.

As a matter of record I eventually became the Class IV INT Crew IC at INCOMM. Amazingly I was still hesitant to disclose this even now, ha.

:welcome2: to ESMB, DWN!

Incomm. We have a few people here familiar with that area and maybe they'll jump in here to chat soon.

Interesting about being asked to interview straight away.

I'd love to hear more of your story. How long were you in Scientology? What years? When did you leave?

I always find it amusing how so much stuff is highly secret and known only to a few top people in the SO, and anyone outside Scn with internet access.

Heh.

I was in the SO for about 18 months in the early 90's :)

I was the Staff Courses Practical Sup at ITO in the HGB at that time. We had a few people over from INCOMM for study, but not many, so we may have met but unlikely.

Its very likely we at least saw each other.

Do you still remember or know people from those days?

I wanted forever to say goodbye to the old woman in my office who was OT3. I don't even remember her name now but she was well known at the time. According to her she was part of a group that was with LRon in Europe, I think Spain or Portugal before they were "asked" to leave. She gave the Church all her money and when she had nothing more to give she joined the SO. She had such an amazing demeanor, always so calm and direct. Despite being OT3 she was effectively the office clerk. She loved to listen to Enya and was one of the few people I knew of who could open those last 2 doors to the server room. To this day I still remember seeing that elevated, glassed in, office within an office server room. They both left quite an impression on me and gave me the validation to stay as long as I did.

Any chance you knew her or know what happened to her?

Good to hear your voice DWN. It all counts, the history.

It's kind of funny, INCOMM, when yet the COS is so OUTCOMM with the world that it is supposedly saving, "clear the planet". Like, you know, the current DM, leader, can't even speak publicity to the media like the Pope can. LOL

Or even comparing to a CEO of a public company traded on Wall Street. You know, a public company, means shares ownership of the company are owned by the public. As a comparison. Did I forget the statement by Hubbard - the work was free so keep it so. LOL

And yet there are no clears, or ot's. LOL

If scientology were a public company traded on wall street, here is what the mutual fund mangers would be asking:

I remember hundreds of them. As Staff Courses Sup for years I called roll every course period, and most of the people in the HGB turned up for rollcall. They didn't all stay for study, but that's another story! So I got to do a lot of matching names to faces, and I found that I knew pretty much everyone in the building (500+) by name and face.

I put a list online back in 2005 or so. It's at http://fzglobal.org/hgbstaff1994.htm. It's a list I made up for my own purposes (chasing people up for study etc), so if someone was never in my courseroom then they won't appear on the list. I see I have 32 INCOMM people there, although very few of them came regularly to study in the HGB.

Not from your description, although I might recognise her from a photograph or name.

These 3 names sound familiar but its been soooo long. Massey and Dunn seem even more familiar. Why would I know them? Did they work at Incomm? If you worked at Incomm when I was there, do you remember Enya being played over and over for weeks on end? This is the time I remember most vividly. There was an incident where police had served a warrant on the facility looking for an SO member, we locked the doors and some of us were posted to that central building right around that time. Blissfully, most of my memories of my time in SO seem to be fading away :)
