Re: Key to Life secret EP and the real purpose Scientology wants you to do this cours

My observations from being in ITO until early 1996:

KTL tended to take forever to do, except in extreme cases like crush pilots. The clay-table processing (not demos) might go on for 100 session hours, with weeks waiting for a simple review. The M9s went on and on; the twinning policy mandating twins suffer the same penalties meant a fast student stuck with a slow student resulted in lowest-common-denominator progress. The policy that only specialised (trained) staff could deliver it meant that if one blew the whole team was screwed, unless it went "out-tech."

One huge problem was with the policy that once you had started on KTL/LOC you weren't supposed to do anything else until you had finished. So this ground to a halt the sale/delivery of other services for peeps that had started, and since it was the key to planetary clearing <ahem> there was a big push to get everyone onto [STRIKE]and through[/STRIKE] it. My opinion on what happened was (1) Hubbard pushed it, and (2) pilot projects at Int got people through reasonably quickly; no-one wanted to say no to Hubbard and it looked doable because of the pilot projects. The problem is that delivery outside of such a controlled environment didn't have razor-sharp delivery personnel with instant (session) reviews, ethics, and spot-on supervision, so once outside the tight control it flopped badly.

It was a big enough dog's breakfast at ITO, which I assume was close to the best in the world since ITO trained all the outer org teams. Out in the wild (sorry) it must have been far worse.

Whatever benefits KTL delivered -- and there genuinely were some -- the pain outweighed them. And this doesn't even get into the "My hat in life" fiasco on LOC where a staff member would go (properly) through the lengthy analysis steps and realise he would rather be a musician than an org toilet cleaner.

So overall, I think the problem was crashing delivery stats for no good reason other than following a Hubbard bright idea. (Bright idea is a Scn technical term: it doesn't have its usual English meaning.)

I would be willing to wager that a new even more on source version of this course will be released and everyone will have to do it. That will probably be their new business model. Come out with something new and make it mandatory.

Wow. This is very much what I was going to say, but better and more detailed.

The two things that came to mind with me, like you:

    1) It's really long. And while the person is on it, he can't do anything else. This was also a great excuse of the disaffected, offlines public. I can't tell you how many people I contacted in call in out in the field who wouldn't come into an org because they were "mid KTL"; usually stuck somewhere. A lot of people got a LOT of mileage out of that.

I suspect the "really long" thing was why DM got rid of the Briefing Course, too. Someone would sign up for that course and be on it for years. Where's the money in that?

    2) The LOC thing. LOC was a really...odd course. It broke out your life into all the pieces that it should contain: first dynamic, family, groups, animals, "MEST"...I took it as a staff member and all I could think of throughout the course is that I had no life. Then towards the end of the course it does a 180 and implies the only way to have all your dynamics is to devote your life to Scientology. It really made no sense.

My observation, even at the time, was that a great number of staff who took that course and completed it left staff soon after. No wonder.

I'd love to hear other people's opinions about the courses and why they disappeared.

They did that after the BASIC BOOKS release - with Dianetics. They repackaged it and trained staff to deliver Dianetic Auditing...saying "Books make Booms" and so on and so forth <---alittle J&Ding there folks...making fun of L Ron-isms

It was a total disaster but it showed me just how Scientology truly is the science of Public Relation Marketing...a movie set with props and a "Show they must get on the Road".

In fact - my first experience with SP Declare of a friend - the Ethics Officer told me that this person got declared, read the declare to me over the phone and then said those magical LRon Words ..."WE have to get the Show on the Road"

The person was declared 10 years ago and that Show is not doing too good...so they picked the wrong "Who". LOL

It is a Hollywood set. A PT Barnum Circus Big Tent...

I think I've written about this somewhere else here but I'll recap:

LOC as it was first delivered was about you discovering your "Hat in Life," which boiled down to your pre-cult goals. So various staff and SO members found that yes, they wanted to be an artist rather than a Telex Operator and so they would start the necessary steps to route out and chase their goals.

Panic at Int. when this was realized and a "correction" was sent down to "amend" the procedure so that the slaves "discovered" they always wanted to slaves and not something else. By then (in Sydney at least) a lot of staff/SO had finished or were close to it and were called in to be "corrected." I refused personally as I didn't feel like I'd had any "Out Tech" - I was the I/C for the team for ages and I'd always thought that the original way it was done made peeps happy = supposed to be a good thing yes?

Most teams in ANZO got ripped apart by executives using the staff for "more important things" that then resulted in no team left to deliver. Sydney stayed together for longer than most, as did the team at AOSH ANZO. But eventually there were no more peeps to sell to as most had done it and a large proportion of the staff had gotten through it.

I did KTL at ITO and LOC at AOSH ANZO and enjoyed both. After LOC, I went back to bird-watching, bush walks and growing orchids as pastimes outside of cult hours and I had Hubbard references to back me up. I also began to collect a large library of books and CDs and spend more time with my non-cult family - again I had the Hubbard references to back up my decisions. I think that it was for those reasons (people finding out that there was a life outside of the cult they should be living) that LOC was quietly dropped.

Prerequisites for doing Super Power were KTL/LOC - has that changed?

I did KTL/LOC before they decided to change LOC to foist off some other "hat in life" on you. KTL took 9 months to do. It went petty well for me.

I don't agree with the link in the OP as to what KTL is all about.

I didn't do KTL myself, but I Star-rated and delivered KTL Clay Table Auditing as a Review item a few times. It was good. I like Clay Table.

yep, in order to do Super Power now, no KTL/LOC, you just have to have lots of money.

A few years back just b/4 the official release of Super Power, one OT8 told me they were for sure certain that it would change the planet.

Another OT8 I know that did Super Power recently, well, let's say I have not noticed anything profound, the person seems the same, and there is no change in conditions in their life.

Back in 2011 I asked my close relative about KTL/LOC (who had earlier done KTL/LOC as a public), we were twins at the time on the new TR's & Objectives Co-audit, (just a year later turned into the Survival Rundown), I says I always wanted to do KTL/LOC and was really wishing to do them courses, I was still a believer at the time, my twin said I think you're OK.

    KTL (Key to Leaving)

    ..

    :clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping:

Whoa! Two (2) fantastically illuminating posts on KTL (Key to Leaving)!

It precisely confirms the many times I alleged that a Scientology auditor would not indicate your dial-wide F/N if your win/cognition was not found within: "THE SCIENTOLOGY BOOK OF STANDARD & AUTHORIZED WINS AND COGNITIONS"

Example: PC has massive blowdown, VVGI line charge and voices the cognition: "Wow that is the greatest cognition I have ever had! Life-changing! I just realized that I blew 30 years and $500,000 on Hubbard's ridiculous and cruel hoax! Wow now I am no longer stuck in fixed cult conditions and can finally get on with my life, flourish & prosper and I will finally be "able" to do the things I always wanted to do!"

Auditor sees and notes "VVGIs floating TA" on the worksheet. Keeps looking at PC and then down at meter. After an uncomfortably long com lag the PC is suddenly concerned and asks: "Is there something wrong?"

Auditor: "Thank you. I have noted everything for the C/S. Is there anything you'd care to ask or say before we end off here?"

PC: "Yeah. That was the biggest win and cog of my entire life! Why didn't you indicate my FN?"

AUDITOR: (wheels spinning in his head, still confused): "Thank you. I got that! End of Session!"

PC: "Wait! What about my FN?"

    AUDITOR: "Yeah, whatever."

Another problem with KTL/LOC was if you were an OTIII or above and you were located at an outer org or mission you had to go to an advanced org for the clay table processing.

So there had to be some arrangement whereby you did the course at your local org then went to the advanced org for the clay table processing then the results of that processing had to be kept confidential from your local org. Oy vay!

I remember someone at my org trying to explain this to me and even they didn't understand how it was supposed to work.

I just said I wasn't going to do it and I think my org were relieved!

Greetings Lulu Belle ~~ I only just saw this post.

The essence and crux of why KTL was pulled is that too many people struggled with the verb section and there huge amounts of reports of kids/teenagers having a very rough time with KTL. As a 12 year old, do you really give fiddlesticks on conjugation or regular verbs vs irregular verbs ? Parents were regged $$$$ and many 2nd generation kids were put on the course.

    Sample of area of BOG:

    English Verb Conjugation

In English, you can type in infinitive forms such as “go”, “abide”, “break”, … but also conjugated forms (“done”, “making”, “has”, “comes”). The conjugator recognizes infinitive, reflexive verbs (“hurt oneself”) and negative forms (“not remember”) as well as phrasal verbs (“get off”, “come in”). The Contractions option displays the contracted forms of auxiliaries and negatives, e.g.: not believe: « I do not believe » or « I don't believe », see: « I have seen » or « I've seen », « I will go » or « I'll go »...

There were a LOT of reports of mishaps, car accidents, bike accidents, illnesses and what is called in the cult "bad indicators" of students on KTL. Because of the bogs, it went on and for months, even 1 -2 years with fierce attendance made mandatory or else.

    ++++++

Life Orientation Course. LOL. Miscavige gave a briefing on Freewinds of how the cult Org Board awareness levels were to be used to sorting out one's life. Nothing like LOC. The compilers bogged on making a philosophical machine for students based on Awareness Levels.

I refuse to think about KTL or LOC PERIOD.

Why bother to think about that shit - or anything scientology ?

Those who want to - if not still - believe in that stuff might want to consider jumping back into that boat.

I had no interest in doing that shit back ' in the day' .

WTF bother with it now ?

There are good things in life & - in my opinion - they ain't found in scientology.

Things have changed so much from the 90's.

There are OT3 - 8s, doing the mandatory "Survival" RD, audited by PRE-Clears at the local orgs nowadays. How do they C/S or handle red tagged pcs?

How it used to work 20 years ago when OTs were twinned with non-OTs on unmetered auditing actions -- "out-tech" but mostly doable and certainly expedient -- was that if the OT needed a review he would take his folder and go to his usual AO or FSO or FSSO as "in-tech" demanded so he could say what he wanted to without having to withhold his BT chatter. Of course the OT concerned would usually try very hard not to red-tag or have any case manifestations while gritting his teeth through whatever mandatory action (Survival RD etc) he had to endure.

Any confidential actions would go into an appropriately striped and secured OT folder and the non-confidential actions would continue on in the regular non-confidential folder.

NOTE: I use "OT" here to mean people who have been labelled as such by the cult after doing the appropriate level; I am not commenting on any particular state or abilities.

    Crap, Man!

I totally missed all these benefits from the LOC. I was heavily chugging the cool-aid when I did KTL/LOC at AOLA during the initial launch. It was no problem for me to realize that my hat in life was to be a "Disseminator of LRH books and tech to Salvage the Planet!"

So I carried on with my various posts in the planetary dissemination.

I did get out 50,000,000 copies of TWTH. :hide:

Wow! I did not know that these two courses were dropped. They essentially broke up my marriage at the time. No joking. I sent my spouse to Flag, which at that time was the only place you could even do that/those courses. It wasn't a secret that the EP was finding out your purpose in life. That was why I sent him/her there. We were having issues with that particular "thing" (laziness and whatnot). So I was like, "find out what the hell you want to do."

Well, when my spouse came back, it was awful. It was like I was married to a confused child. I called Flag and told them they missed something. Something was wrong. Of course, LRH is not wrong, and no way can Flag deliver anything incorrectly. But they said to come back to Qual. I should have gone with, but I was very busy with my own "purpose."

Finally, my spouse came back with an EP. Now, I'm ruining one of the funnier chapters of my book by telling you this, but "sport clothes" was the answer I got. Oh boy, there was still something wrong. "Sport clothes" is not a purpose in life. Go back and come back when it's handled. My spouse never came back. Years later I heard something about him/her signing a Sea Org contract.
