There is much information out there these days that shows the subconscious mind doesn't know the difference between reality and imagination. That is why so many people use visualisations, affirmations, positive thinking and so on as methods of self-help.

So when Hubbard was hooking himself up to a meter and letting his imagination run riot it isn't surprising that the meter was giving reads. He was imagining incidents, the subconscious thought they were real and caused the meter to read and Hubbard took the reads to confirm the incidents were real! Talk about the blind leading the blind. No wonder he ended up going nuts.

I'm sure that Sneakster is familiar with the quote.

It was said in 1952, during the aftermath of the conflict with former benefactor Don Purcell over Hubbard's corrupt and dictatorial control of the organization. Hubbard had reassured the nascent Scientologists, attending his lectures in Philadelphia, that he had no interest in any such control, and opposed those who did.

And then there's the "lightness of organization" quote from 1955, and also the much quoted statement expressing dislike for acquiring property that was made shortly after purchasing St. Hill in England - purchased with a loan from Scientologist Reg Sharpe, a loan that was never repaid. (Several years later, conveniently, Sharpe was declared an "SP" by Hubbard.)

And it wasn't just during the 1950s or the early 1960s that Hubbard occasionally expressed disdain for control over others. He did so, intermittently, during the late 1960s and beyond, even as the Commodore whose whims were instant law and whose punishments were fierce.

Here's another good one from Hubbard, where he again shows his lack of interest in material things. He was obviously a very spiritual man who cared deeply about serving others and making a better world. :bigcry:

"Advanced Courses are the most valuable service on the planet. Life insurance, houses, cars, stocks, bonds, college savings, all are transitory and impermanent... There is nothing to compare with Advanced Courses. They are infinitely valuable and transcend time itself."

    L. Ron Hubbard writing of his Operating Thetan Courses, from Mission Order 375

In his confidential instructions, Hubbard told Scientologists to use "aberrative" practices and "enemy tactics" on Scientology's enemies.

And Hubbard would often mention "enemy tactics," or "aberrative" practices in his public writings and lectures, and, inevitably, present himself as an opponent of those practices and tactics. This assured Scientologists that Hubbard would never use such practices or tactics on them.

But he did use them and extensively, and Scientologists, reassured by their "greatest friend" - "Ron" - having already warned them about, and expressed his opposition to, such practices and tactics, were defenseless. They were sitting ducks. This is a old confidence man trick.

Volney Mathison spotted this pattern and, in 1954, described it.

(This can be applied, not only to hypnosis, but to any "enemy tactic" or "aberrative" practice about which Hubbard publicly warned or expressed opposition.)

"He [Hubbard] uses the very power he has denounced... The victim is caught completely off guard."

Oh, yes . . . while the transistor was invented in 1947 . . . it certainly was not in the Volnay M instrument.

However, the old "Blue meters" we had in the late 1950's were built on transistors . . . and they were battery powered . . . hence no worries about voltage fluctuation.

Come on now. All you have learned from scientology surely that is no surprise to you coming from a wog. If you really are after the truth and the facts why do you change the context of peoples comments and then use the new meanings to insult them?

What I was saying is if you want to find facts and truth why are you searching in hubbard's works. hubbard used fiction and misdirection. He himself would take the works of others, change the context and call it his researched findings.

Scaring kids with Freddy Krueger masks is OK. Terrifying them with Scientology is not OK.
