Yeah, I quit coming here frequently too. Too many fuckwits posting.
At the moment becoming more "insular" is exactly what needs to happen and I can assure you that inclination is not restricted to the "American mentality" ... do come back soon and explain to us all why you are so amused, I can hardly wait.
anon1, would you saunter over to the Nørrebro suburb some night and have a couple cocktails and check out this story. I have a hard time believing that something like this would be allowed to happen in the European crown jewel of Copenhagen.
Seems like a fake news story. I just can't believe it.
Make sure to take precautions for your physical safety, just in case.
Please report back to us soon.
A group of bar owners from one of Copenhagen’s suburbs, who have been endlessly harassed by Muslim youth activists trying to impose a so-called “Shariah zone”, have taken their case to a government minister, urging her to protect their businesses and the locals.
Pub owners in the Nørrebro suburb of Copenhagen have for months tried to get the Copenhagen Police to take action against a group of youths from an immigrant background, who have been threatening, extorting, and vandalizing bars in broad daylight.
The concept of Sharia zones was introduced by a group called ‘Call to Islam’ some five years ago. Using volunteers, pockets of activists embark on daily patrols of the neighborhood and approach those who drink, gamble, or engage in other activities seen by the group as running contrary to Islamic beliefs.
“Recently some young men came into the bar and shouted that all guests should leave,” Heidi Dyrnesli from Cafe Heimdal told Radio24syv. “They shouted so that the site belongs to them and that Nørrebro is Sharia zone, so there is no drinking alcohol.”

Sigh ... I wish you'd stop embarrassing me with your insular mentality!
Regards Camilla (the beautiful one ... estranged but ever watchful).
Denmark is very gradually waking up to the clear and present danger of Jihadi "asylum" seekers in their midst. A couple years back there were two notable Islamic terror incidents killing Danes and wounding a good number of police.
The country has been enacting very strict restrictions on immigration, out of sheer self-preservation, making it the probable winner of Western Europe's "least attractive country for refugees". For example, Danish authorities can now seize any assets from immigrants that exceed $1,450 in value, to help offset the enormous financial burden they place on Danish taxpayers. Also they have more recently slashed appx. 50% of the gov't welfare entitlements to their new guests.
Imagine how "funny" and "American" and "insular" this would have been if TRUMP had enacted the same US laws just for the illegal immigrants?! Can anyone even imagine how hysterical the cries of "RACISM!" would have grown?!
Anyways, this Islamic terror & intimidation campaign in Norrebro might end up backfiring on the aspiring Jihadis there. Consider that Denmark has a massive ownership of licensed hunting rifles---and mix that with the Dane's insatiable appetite for Tuborg beers. One of these days, the Sharia Squad invading the wrong Danish bar is going to get a helluva surprise when they burst in and start ordering the wrong shit-faced Danes to get out.
Of course, this is probably all racist, Islamophobic stupid "American" thinking. The Islamic radicals probably mean no harm. They didn't really declare war on Europe, America, Israel/Jews, Christians, Gays, children and anyone else who doesn't like their sadistic torturing and beheading innocent people. They are not really attacking countries, governments and citizens with murder campaigns.
It's all really just "insular" Americans imagining things because of their mental problems. LOL
That's when I had a nice little epiphany about why FAKE NEWS is virally proliferating everywhere.
Because, it pays better than facts. Way better!
Fact vs. Fiction. That's why documentary filmmakers drive 20 year old Toyota beaters and Hollywood movie producers drive brand new Bentleys.
Well, when you consider the number of illegals in L A who pay into the system I am not so sure about what you would cut back. Arnold tried not allowing them car insurance - and that Idea was an abject failure and was overturned. I had an employee with papers, who saved as much of his pay as possible - I deducted his SS etc, taxes. When he had saved enough money, he returned to his home country, bought a house over a small general store with the cash, and owns and runs his store.
The US and California will never have to pay a dime back of all the SS, medicare money he paid into the system. Many of them don't like it here all that much but support their families back there or do what my worker did, and bail when they have saved enough cash.
Did you know El Salvador's official money is the US dollar - the colón is long gone
"It is widely known that undocumented immigrants make up a large part of the American work force. What may not be as widely known is that many are forced to drive without car insurance - something that is both illegal and costly. Getting into an accident as an uninsured motorist can easily end up costing tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. Faced with the prospect of deportation, the situation is even more precarious for undocumented immigrants.
Unfortunately, to make a living, many immigrants take on the risk of driving uninsured anyway.
What’s the major problem? Paperwork. For undocumented immigrants, the largest hurdle towards valid car insurance is a valid driver’s license. Anyone seeking to get car insurance in the country needs one. As of today, the majority of states make this nearly impossible.
There are some places taking steps towards solving this impasse. Twelve states plus Washington D.C. allow undocumented immigrants to receive a driver’s licenses. California, Nevada and Illinois are some of the largest states to issue licenses to this population. As it happens, a large percentage of undocumented immigrants live in these three states. The remaining states that allow the practice are Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, New Mexico, Utah, Vermont and Washington." More at link
Those are not "steps towards solving" anything.
Once a person breaks the law and enters the country illegally, there are no other "steps" besides deporting them.
The many tens of millions of American immigrants who followed all the laws and painstakingly waited their turn (for years!!!) finally made it to the front of the line. They earned their American status legally.
Anyone who defies the law and puts all the honest immigrants at a severely compromised disadvantage, has no rights to anything, much less a driver's license.
Immigration has laws. People are required to follow laws. Honest, law abiding, people should retain all the benefits that accrue to following the rules.
Imagine something as harmless as waiting in line at a movie theater or at the boxoffice for a dream concert you always wanted to buy a ticket for. Further, imagine a whole bunch of people who didn't give a shit about you or the line you waited in for hours--suddenly pushing you out of line and taking your place. Feeling happy about it? Want to give them a driver's license? Or let them buy up the last remaining seats...your seats? Feeling happy yet?
How is this a difficult concept?
ps: By the way, any American who has legal status in the USA attempting to bring in relatives from overseas is harshly admonished that: "....if you ever try to bring that person into the US illegally, the US government will confiscate your car, fine you $250,000, prosecute you, and put your relative on a black list where they will be FOREVER forbidden to live or even visit the US again!" That's how American's are instructed. I was there. They were ferociously warning ME and I had never done anything wrong with regard to immigration. But for the over ten million illegal Mexicans? No problem, give 'em driver's licenses, give 'em welfare, food stamps, free medical, free everything. Corruption personified.
No. Re: "But for the over ten million illegal Mexicans? No problem, give 'em driver's licenses, give 'em welfare, food stamps, free medical, free everything. Corruption personified."
I really think you are misinformed. Many if not most of the illegals contribute to our economy. They are not all on welfare etc. And why do you lump them into being Mexicans? I worked for a couple years for a Canadian wet back business owner. He was white - does that make him more legal somehow?
You argue that they waited patiently until they became legal. Well, they had to eat, rent an apartment in the mean time, correct? That takes money = jobs= need to get to said jobs = owning and driving cars if the public transportation isn't available. So, they are to be denigrated as illegals until they finally get their green cards at which time they are lauded?
They are not all criminals as Trump would have you believe. Far from it. Many are here to work. Many want to support their family back home. Or didn't that occur to you? The Latinos that I know are proud to have jobs and thus assert, they don't have to stoop to criminality. And, they get very offended if you insinuate they are criminals.
But that point is lost on the racist idiots that pretend to govern our country and those that buy their crazy ideas.
Did you ever consider if you sent all the illegals packing - our crops would die on the vines? Like it or not, they fill a niche in our country that many Americans eschew. More than that - work they do, the goods and services they purchase with the money they earn is proof of their working class ethic, not the portrait you paint of a corrupt people.
Why do you insert this piece of BS to your argument?
Justify this statement. Provide evidence. Please.
Mimsey, your post, my comments. . .
I am misinformed about what? I didn't say that an illegal cannot contribute something of value. I didn't say they are all on welfare. You are arguing with yourself. Let's see who is misinformed. Do you know how much in social services an illegal alien requires (in dollars per year) who is NOT on "welfare"? I am talking about medical, hospitals, police, courts, etc. I am quite sure you have no idea, right? How about another simple question. Do you know what percentage of prisoners in the FEDERAL PRISON system are illegal aliens? Want the answer? 22 percent! They're "not on welfare", but how much do you think it costs yearly to incarcerate and manage, feed and give medical care and legal professionals as they wind their way through the court & penal systems? See how your "but they're not on welfare!" rings hollow and irrelevant. So is it me that is misinformed?
You have no clue what you are talking about here. Having PERSONALLY shepherded FAMILY and FRIENDS and EMPLOYEES through the US immigration labyrinth (at lavish expense and over long periods of time), I know quite a bit about legal vs. illegal aliens. I am not talking about people "waiting patiently" while they are doing illegal things like being in the country illegally and having fake federal IDs. I am talking about people from other countries who LEGALLY go through the system and make application for status within the USA. I don't know what you are possibly talking about with your courageous defense of illegal aliens. There is no reason to have illegal aliens in the country. If the gov't deems they have value as a day laborer or temporary laborer, so let 'em come in and work for that defined period--and then leave! That whole "denigrated as illegals" argument of yours is a red herring and nothing to do with over 11 million illegal aliens trampling the US laws and suddenly empowering themselves to act as the unelected lawmaking and justice branches of government. Theater of the absurd. The only reason illegals were not given the bum rush out the door ages ago is that America is a rich country and has been using up its "savings" to do very foolish feel-good, virtue-signaling acts that have been effectively driving the country (and states and cities) to bankruptcy. Some cities (e.g. Detroit) have already gone under and declared bankruptcy due to an intolerable overload of welfare and socialist entitlements for which there NEVER was any money to do in the first place.
Just for the record, how many illegal aliens are you allowing to stay in your house? Oh what's that? You don't want to house them and take care of them? You want OTHERS to do that? LOL LOL LOL
LOL! "As Trump would have you believe". LOL. Now that's a lovely bit of condescending bullshit and mental confusion on your part. Suddenly you know who I vote for? LOL. Suddenly you know who I take advice from? LOL. Jeez, Mimsey, you are just imagining things, calm down, take a deep breath. Try to post about things you know about rather than making shit up.
It's racist to regulate and enforce immigration law? Racist? LOL. If the immigration laws apply equally to ALL RACES, how can it possibly be "racist"? What are you proposing, then, anarchy?
Our crops would die if people legally immigrated? LOL. Nice imaginary argument. Try reading a bit about the laws of supply and demand and the free enterprise system. The vacuum would be filled by American unemployed or low wage earners. That's how it works. Where there is a DEMAND there will found a solution to FILL that demand at a price point which the market will allow to adjust itself. You don't have to socially engineer the farming industry, it has survived for 10,000 years without your zany progressive theories that no crops will grow unless they are picked by Mexican immigrants. How did all the 183 countries in the world without illegal Mexicans eat then for the past 10,000 years?
I like y'all Mimsey, but really---if you love the progressive economic policies and platform, why don't you spend a year in any major US urban ghetto and then come back and tell us your wins. If you are alive. (CREDIT NOTICE: That question was an homage to Il2L's previous question about the Jihadi enclave in Kobenhavn).
We can compare apples to poisonous berries in as much as they are both fruit. But IMHO anything further than that is bollocks.
I'm waiting for some European nation to start responding to Jihadis like Burma recently has. Until that happens, I have little hope.
Austria and the Czech Republic have recently voted in right wing governments.
Germany is in the middle of an awkward phase where Merkel's party needs a coalition partner, and the Social Democrats can't join her coalition because that would grant the right-wing AfD (who came in third in this years election) the role of the official "Party of the Opposition" in parliament, with the right of speaking first in response to government statements and to initiate fact-finding commissions. Can't have that.
Oy vey. I work with Latinos every day of the work week and have done so since the 80's. We have had plenty of conversations about these subjects. Do you know what they call our country?
The golden bird cage.
They call it that because of the rumors that it is a rich country, because of the money coming into their country from relatives that live and work here and send money back. So they sneak into our country, perhaps in the trunk of a caddy with several others. They find out they need to work - a lot. Everything here costs a lot more than back there. To save up money they may move in with friends, relatives. I have been in apartments where some sleep on the couches, while another sleeps in the closet. For many who support people back in their home country this is a necessity.
They find themselves trapped here - hence the bird cage analogy.
Many don't like the grind of US life and go back. These days it cost's about $7k for a coyote to bring you in. Who pays for that? The friends and relatives already here. So right off the bat they are in debt. I have talked to a doctor who was looking for labor work in front of home depot. It seems his education & medical certificates aren't accepted here.
It's not an easy life for them. Anyway, I am off to work. Perhaps I'll ask them about your post.
Our crops would not die on the vines. Farmers would pay a little more to hire people who are legal, prices for tomatoes would go up slightly over the short term, and life would go on.
Long-term, the lack of cheap illegal labor would result in farmers buying robot pickers, providing more tech jobs.
Note a comment at the 1:50 mark below: "Somewhere about 10% of the lettuce produced in the US is produced by our machine". Getting rid of illegals would mean that figure would grow.
And here's a comment guaranteed to blow up this thread with SJWs across the world swarming ESMB with picket signs and baseball bats, lol.
If the illegals were sent home to originate a legal application for status within the US, there would be a hell of a lot of low-paying jobs opening up across the land.
Guess what? That's not the doomsday problem the left tries to scare people with. In fact, it's a tremendous OPPORTUNITY. Not only would it lower crime by massive numbers and reduce the hundreds of billions of welfare and social services dollars paid out to illegals---it would do something quite amazing...
It would give the gov't an opportunity to put ten million or so unemployed people to work in the vacated jobs. And if they didn't want to take the jobs, then 100% of their welfare entitlements, food stamps and other gov't handouts would be immediately canceled.
So unemployment numbers would reach record (favorably low) levels!
And the vicious cycle of 2,3,4 and 5 GENERATIONS of ghetto families living on welfare, could be mercifully broken.
I've just clicked my stopwatch. To see how long it takes before the words RACIST and GENOCIDE begin getting hurled into the conversation, lol.
Illegal labor is cheap for the farmer, but not for the US. There's a phrase "privatize profits, socialize costs". The employer of illegal labor gets cheap labor. Meanwhile, the rest of us pick up the costs of educating the illegal's children, paying for their medical care, dealing with the costs of uninsured motorists, etc.
What's been happening over the last few decades, is that development of automated farming equipment has been crippled by the presence of cheap illegal labor. But that's going to quickly change over the next five years, as the cost of automation is finally getting below the cost of even illegal labor. We will shortly have robots working the fields, at a cost below what it takes to provide a man with even peasant living standards. What happens to unskilled, low-IQ peasants then?
Whole post very astute!
A mentor of mine, Victor Davis Hanson, owns a family farm near Fresno, California,
so he has over 50 years of real-world experience in farming. Here's what he reports:
By the beginning of 2016, there were over 1 million acres in California planted with almonds—now the largest crop in the state. . . .Currently, Californians are witnessing the most radical shift in croplands in their entire agricultural history, a change fraught with misunderstanding, controversy, and cultural and economic consequences. What caused the frantic rush to convert irrigated farmland to almond orchards?. . .In the early 1960s, there were only about 100,000 acres of California almonds. By 2016, there was over ten times that acreage. . . .One or two operators can run various almond harvesters that shake, sweep, and collect what once required the labor of hundreds—and much more thoroughly and at a fraction of the time and cost. With complex labor regulations, steady increases in the minimum wage, and controversy over illegal immigrant labor, many growers would have yanked their peach orchards and raisin vineyards even without the hope of enormous profits, just to escape the tentacles of California bureaucracies.
Source: When Liberals Hate Almonds
Right now, almond farming can be done in a highly-automated manner. Year by year, more crops will have viable automated harvesters and cultivators, as robotic equipment gets smarter. Robot vision systems will be able to distinguish crops from weeds, spot diseases on leaves, etc.
I can see having a little solar-powered robot going up and down the field, putting out a little blade to snip any weeds or bugs it sees, and injecting a fertilizer solution at the roots of each plant it passes. When it reaches the end of the row, it connects to a docking station which refills it with supplies, and then it goes down the next row.
At harvest time, it can go down each row, grab the ripe plants, put them in a hopper on its back, and bring them to a collection point. No humans (illegal or otherwise) will be required.
