RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that screenwriter Timothy Patrick McLanahan is suing Cruise for $1 billion, because he claims he came up with the idea for the movie way back in 1998.

Sadly.. I suspect the case will be dismissed as having no merit. The plaintiff sounds like a loony toon. He filed 18 lawsuits against police & a mental healthy agency in Washington state & was later barred by the court from filing further lawsuits. He also has no attorney representing him (the lawsuit was filed by mail).

Unless he can find a seasoned attorney to represent him against a major movie studio, given the guy's past record for filing lawsuits, he's outta luck.

He's sued President Obama, at least, twice. http://dockets.justia.com/search?query=Tim++McLanahan&noscat=4

Thank you, Smurf, for doing the 'due diligence' and educating all of us as to the plaintiff's unusual litigation history. :thankyou:

Much appreciated!

BTW, this guy is a registered securities broker with a long, clean history...

You can see a complete copy of his record here

It's not the same person, Mary. The person you refer to is listed having living in Lousiana (Baton Rouge, Marrero, Metairie, New Orleans, Jackson, and Mandeville); O'Fallon, Missouri; Savannah, GA & Glastonbury, CT. He's 45 years old.

The plaintiff is 61 years old & resides in Moses Lake, WA (the court docs on Radar show he resides in Grant County, WA.) Moses Lake is the largest city in Grant Co. His listed former residences: Pasadena, TX; Sparks, NV & Reno, NV.

Of course this is a minor irritant for the little big man, but it is funny that for a change someone is suing him.

It's a minor irritant to Tom Cruise. Who starts a federal lawsuit by mail? The case is in a California court. i wonder if the plaintiff knows he can't litigate a case via mail?
