    * Sam asked his uncle for help, but he claims even he could do nothing to stop the attacks
    * He does say that Travolta provides him with a monthly allowance and has never pressured his family members to join the church

This looks like a money-making opportunity for Sam, who's been in the tabloids before. He once had a Facebook page full of gay pornographic photos.. it was later deleted by FB.

Maybe. I know an ex who posts smut on their fb page to keep the scn dogs away. I know another ex who took LSD to get them off her case permanently. I don't think either are particularly smart moves, but I do appreciate the pressure scn exerts on people.

Radar Online: John Travolta’s Nephew Claims ‘Scientology Almost Killed Me!’

The hits keep coming for the beleaguered Church of Scientology. Days before HBO’s explosive documentary about the church is set for wide release, John Travolta‘s nephew has come forward with his own claims of “psychological warfare” and “mental control” by the controversial church.

Speaking exclusively with The National ENQUIRER, Sam Travolta, Jr. said he’s been forced to live on the run since fleeing the religion in 2007, and remains fearful for his life.

“Scientology almost killed me!” Sam, 47, said, explaining that what he called “psychological warfare” by the church became so unbearable that he attempted suicide to escape.

“Things got so bad that I tried to jump off a bridge in Los Angeles in January 2007, trying to kill myself!” he claimed. Sam then spent 28 days in a mental treatment center.

    * * * * * BEGIN EXCERPT * * * * *

In a bombshell exclusive interview, Sam Travolta, Jr., claimed members of the cult-like religion “terrorized” him with death threats and other harassing tactics for years – even driving him to attempt suicide!

Sam has lived on the run since fleeing Scientology in 2007. Now, he is speaking to the media for the first time – disclosing his horrific story to The ENQUIRER after our exhaustive months-long investigation tracked him down in a small Midwestern town.

For the sake of Sam’s safety, The ENQUIRER is withholding his exact whereabouts. But the 47-year-old screenwriter claimed he remains fearful for his life, even though Scientology’s harassment campaign seemed to end in 2012.

“Scientology almost killed me!” Sam declared in a no-holds-barred interview.

Smurf, IIRC, didn't posters, myself included, determine on a FB thread back in 2011 that Sam was mentally disturbed?

Frankly, I am surprised the news reporter even accepted what he said at face value. The church would never threaten or harass a top celebrity's relative like that. Who ever heard of scientologists saying, repetitively no less, "You're dead"? That's a NY NJ saying that is used liberally and not always figuratively by some; when that person is pissed off at someone and plans to get even with someone. It does not necessarily mean a death threat. And Sam knows that.

Travolta would not be helping him out financially on a regular basis if he is or was being threatened by the church as Sam implies. Sounds like paranoia to me. Maybe we need to add him to the casualty list on the People who have gone Type II in Scientology thread.

I seem to recall some discussion about this guy years ago.. he alluded that Scientology forced him to be committed in Del Amo, a psych facility in South Bay.

The tabloids love to pay for stories involving troubled siblings of celebrities. Remember when the tabloids went crazy publicizing the problems of Madonna's older brother, an alcoholic living on the streets of Michigan?

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/30/madonnas-homeless-brother_n_2984861.html

The legitimate media later interviewed members of her family who said Madonna offered to send him to rehab & provide him $$ & an apartment afterwards. Her brother didn't want that. He wanted $$ to buy cigarettes & booze,

Thanks Mary, and Smurf. I don't know why, but I fell for the story although thought it had a lot of gray area to it and didn't know what to make of it. I guess I'm kind of gullible. What you wrote makes sense.

I am curious though, does anyone know for how long Sam was in the Sea Org or on staff, if he was in the Sea Org or on staff, and do any of the exes remember him?

Yeah, sadly it just sounds like this guy is just seriously mentally disturbed/ill. It's very nice that John provides a monthly stipend to support him, but I wonder if this latest story will result in John withholding the stipend? I fear the cult could latch on to this. The cult could probably prove this is a wild story by an ill man and try to demonstrate this is a "typical" fabrication of the lies told about them and position him with other actual legitimate critics and victims. He might be extremely easy to manipulate given the financial support John could exert and him not being of sound mind.

The fact that he was he was in a psychiatric facility for a month after his suicide attempt kind of demonstrates the cult has nothing to do with him - if he was a real member the cult goons would have been there demanding he be released to their care asap. (Esp because he was an important celebrities nephew.) But the cult knows to stay away from the obviously and/or seriously mentally ill who require real professional intervention.

The whole people mouthing "you're dead" is an obvious tip off that he has mental issues - perceptions like that are a hallmark of paranoid delusion. I would bet the cult is well aware of the man's issues and maybe they humored him due to his famous uncle (they certainly wouldn't do it for a typical member) and gave him busy work at an org and kept an eye on him. I'm sure there's no danger of that happening again after this interview.

I do wonder what John's reaction will be, or if he's just accustomed to such behavior after all these years and just sighs and explains that he's sick. I'm sure the cult will lean on him to shut him up and force him to retract or have him make up some wild story that he was "paid" to smear the cult by Big Pharma. The cult would never allow a known mentally ill person to be a member, but we sure as hell know they love to use them as pawns and tools when possible. (See Babbles Schwartz)

His exit story at ethercat's Through The Door Exit Interview says 1997-2007. Smurf posted it here and in other posts on that thread from 2011, there is a link to his scientology completions list online.

If anyone reading this has not done their interview, please consider doing so now. These important interviews have been helping others for many years now. Your story is important and will help others coming across that site http://alley.ethercat.com/cgi-bin/door/door.cgi

Sam was in AOLA for some reason when he was 15 or 16. I was his examiner. When his exam was over, I looked out of my door down the hall at a line of female SO members doing double takes as he walked by. He was amazingly handsome and charismatic. Too bad he got in so young. He was awesome and could have had a great life.

John Travolta's mother, Ellen(?) was also in. Is she out now? I don't think he's the only one of his family still in.

He is the only Travolta still in. I'm sure his family joined, like the Mapother's did with sibling Tom Cruise, to appease the Scilon in the family. Ellen's been out for, at least, 25 years. She's been married to actor Jack Bannon (best known for his role in the 80's show 'Lou Grant' starring Ed Asner) for 31 years.

They now reside in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho & both are very involved in community theater.
