Tony O mentioned a video interview with Russell Miller (author of Bare-faced Messiah - terrific book and essential reading if you haven't already done so - available on Amazon).

Well, by special permission from the interviewer, you can watch it here!:

PS If you listen really carefully, you might be able to recognise the person behind the camera...

Having met and conversed with you on a few occasions I did. :)

TORONTO - Day 3

The photos on Facebook have slowed right down today, but I have two funny ones from Jamie DeWolf (thanks for the permission to share) that he posted on Monday and Tuesday. One shows his bedroom at the conference hotel which has been turned into a temporary recording studio:

"Presto magic, flipped the beds against the walls and turned my hotel room into a film set! Now how to convince the maids it's not for porn?"

The second shows a sign in the hotel:

"Wow is this a conference hall or some bizarre fetish fantasy choose your own adventure? Which room would you want to be in?"

Firstly a round-up of what Chris Shelton spoke about yesterday. Chris has posted a superb review at the Bunker of the speech he gave about the Truth Rundown.

Leah Remini was the recipient of this most awful of thought-stopping techniques after writing a KR on David Miscavige as reported by Tony Ortega in July 2013.

Mat Pesch commented at the Bunker about the Truth Rundown:

"I was one of the first to receive the "Truth Rundown" while in the RPF in 1984. I had observed an inconvenient truth for which I could not remain a group member or get out of the RPF unless I agreed I had not observed it. At the end of the "Truth Rundown" procedure I was asked by the auditor "Now do you see how bla bla is actually not true?"

In my mind I was thinking "No, I'm certain what I observed was true but I'm going to play along so I have a chance to get out of the RPF and see my wife again." So I did my act and everyone was happy. Scientology is one huge, complex game of BULLSHIT. Hubbard was a master at the game and he got thousands of others to play along. There is just one problem. The longer you play BULLSHIT the more others get upset (especially those in charge of running the game) if you decide to stop playing along and buy the bullshit. At that point the game becomes to ruin and destroy you, for which the players can not be penalized."

Chuck Beatty said (Bunker):

"I got the Truth Rundown, over 1,000 hours of it, on the Int RPF out at Happy Valley 1997-2000ish."

Over 1000 hours!

Jesse Prince was back on stage in Toronto this morning. Jesse was Senior "Technical Terminal" when OTVIII was released. The Bunker's Skiesareblue has this to say about Jesse's talk:

[Jessie, paraphrased] Hubbard was having tantrums over boxes of documents that had a "strange smell". Miscavige brought the boxes to Jesse, and told him to get rid of the smell. Jesse, chain smoking, picked up each piece of paper, looked at it, turned it over, "hmmmmm, this looks ok to me....." (I cannot do this justice; you all must watch the film).

After looking at all the pages, the box was returned to Hubbard, who was elated that the smell was gone. Miscavige was amazed . "How did you do that?" Soon afterward, Jesse was told to go out into the middle of the courtyard and stand on a planter. A car would arrive, but he was not to look at it. A long black limousine arrived, drove very slowly in a circle around Jesse, who could not resist taking a peek. From the car window was a big grinning face with very bad teeth. The limousine moved slowly on."

Scientology's attitudes towards medical treatment are being discussed this afternoon.

Tory personally knew 12 young Scientologists who killed themselves.

"You never know when you can help someone. It could be just one word."

Afternoon session: The Second-Generation Experience with Nora Crest and Chris Shelton.

This evening Jamie DeWolf will perform his show about his great-grandfather, L Ron Hubbard.

An extra photo from last night (thanks to Pete Griffiths) of the cocktail hour in Toronto.

Vaquera tells us that during Nora's talk she was brought to tears talking about the indoctrination of children and her project "From Cradle to Slave." Jon goes up on stage to deliver hugs. Applause all around.

Thanks to Spike Robinson for Day 3's "Schedule of Events".

Please note:

"Schedule subject to change. Also, it's Chris Shelton, not Christian Szurko, speaking in the "2nd generation" slot."

Day 3 Schedule of Events.JPG

From the Bunker's Vaquera, who is in the audience once again:

"Now Chris Shelton is up. He's talking about being a child in scientology. I believe he said he was 5 years old. He said the good news is that both he and his parents are out."

"Chris said his parents indoctrinated him, but the word Scientology wasn't used at first. He was yelling at ashtrays as a kid. Chris's parents got out before he did. He stressed that he loves his parents very much. They were taken in by the cult. He is not scarred by the experience."

"On break. Man, that was a tough topic to hear about. The abuse of children. Heartbreaking and somber. Jon talking about children raised in the Sea Org. My eyes are teary."

Chris Shelton on stage Day 3 B.jpg

Chris Shelton on stage Day 3.jpg

Back to Vaquera:

Nora to Tory: "I want you to know that when I was in the RPF, you (and Tory's protests) were our #1 problem!". Hana adding more information. Now a video of Larry Wollersheim. And it's NEVER been seen before.

The Bunker's Skiesareblue:

"Nora Crest gave a very emotional account of her time in the Sea Org. The trailer to her present movie project was shown. It is Exceptionally beautifully done, and will touch your heart in a big way because she is focusing on the children in there. Please do plan to donate when she re-opens it up for contributions.
This is going to be HUGE."

Tony Ortega (where does he get the time?) posted a rundown on the conference with Chris Shelton .

A rundown on the truth being delivered at the Toronto Scientology conference

As to the event itself, the stories and information related by the speakers thus far, after only two days, has been eye-opening and in some cases, down right astonishing. While I certainly knew some of this information, many of the details escaped me in my earlier research, and I also came to find that there were whole years of Scientology history I knew almost nothing about. I’ve had some key details also filled in about David Miscavige’s takeover in the mid-80s and how his coup actually went down.

I’d say this has been the best “Scientology event” I’ve ever been to, mainly of course because I’m finally getting straight shots of unfiltered truth about Scientology versus the bloviated Shermanspeak propaganda that Miscavige spews. And of course, we aren’t standing up every 10 minutes applauding COB’s greatness.

About the Truth Rundown:

Its end result is not just a person confessing that they did some things wrong; it’s convincing himself that he didn’t actually see what he saw and that he has been deluding himself all this time, that he’s only been spreading this “black PR” because of his own evil activity and that the black PR never even happened.

So what you have is a methodology that literally re-writes a person’s memories so they feel that horrifying abuses which happened to them in Scientology didn’t actually happen and puts in its place the idea that the person himself did purposefully evil and destructive actions.

If that isn’t the ultimate in mind control, I don’t know what is

TORONTO - Day 4

I'm afraid I only have time today to post a few pictures from Pete Griffiths and Tweets from Chris Shelton (thank you chaps!).

If you haven't already been to the Bunker to read Jonny Jacobsen's report into Nora Beth Crest's speech yesterday about growing up in Scientology, I highly recommend it. I'm not alone in being blown away by Nora's strength and grace under fire.

For this reason I've also copied Nora's moving comment that she wrote at the Bunker this morning:

"Good Morning Bunker. Thank you to Johnny for this wonderful article about me. It was a day of raw emotions for me on stage. I spoke and then showed the video. Seeing my son on a large screen saluting and hearing him recite the code of a Sea Org Member echoing on the loud speakers broke me. I cried. And it was, as some women would say, an "ugly" cry. It was raw and most definitely unplanned. It was a good thing though. I needed to let it out.

These last three days, meeting all these people, listening to them speak on stage, chatting with them over a meal or drink has been beyond helpful. I have spent the last 13 years figuring all this out on my own. Trying desperately to unravel and untangle myself from the abyss of lies. These last three days have been equal to years of therapy for me. Truth is pouring out of this conference like a NYC fire hydrant on a hot summer day. I am honored to be featured here on Tony's remarkable blog. And to be one voice speaking for the far too many that were enslaved by Scientology because we had the audacity to be born.

Thank you so much to all of you on here who keep this fire burning bright and never let anyone forget that this battle, while we are gaining speed and power, is not over. Thank you to everyone I have met here in Toronto. Your friendship and love has meant the world" - Nora Crest.

Nora Crest in Toronto: Growing up in Scientology means indoctrination from birth
We had to leave the Toronto Scientology conference to deal with some changes back here in New York, but Jonny Jacobsen remained, and submitted this account of Nora Crest’s presentation on Wednesday.

<snip>

“I grew up in Scientology but straddling the two worlds,” she said. “I would get violent when people described Scientology as a cult.” But what she now realizes is that the indoctrination of children really starts from birth.

Time was limited so we didn’t hear all the shocking details of her story inside the Sea Org. You can learn more about that over at Nora’s website, Raging Buddha.

The main crime of $cientology children
in the view of the cruel Guru :confused2:

The ''shame'' of the shames!

I hope $cientology children (thetans in small meat bodies) may heal that sens of being unwanted and neglected that $cientology imprinted within them
especially when they encounter normal society and experience true love and care..how any individual is important to another..I hope...
Can they wognite the sickness was in the guru's mind and his true believers followers...? Deep suffering of a child takes time and lot of care to heal

TORONTO - Day 5

What an incredible five days it has been. A short round-up from those who were there on the last day and some beautiful photos from Pete Griffiths which show some incredible people beginning to wind down after a week that must have left them exhausted and elated.

From the Bunker's Panopea Abrupta:

"Lunch time here in Toronto.

First morning session was preceded by Pete Griffiths and Prof. Dvorkin addressing the libellous statements Prof. Jim Beverly had received from $cientology about them.

Then the issue of violence in $cientology was addressed by Jon Atack, Prof. Beverly, Chris Shelton and Nora Crest.

Prof. Beverly listed 7 reasons why he believes DM is violent:

1 People I trust have told me they were beaten.
2 People I trust have told me they have seen it.
3 It's consistent w the teachings of Lord Hubris.
4 It's consistent w the practices of Lord Hubris
5 I do not trust $cientology leaders.
6 The climate of fear within $cientology is consistent with violence at the top.
7 Great journalists - Larry Wright (Pulitzer Prize winner), Alex Gibney have reported it.
It is truly unlikely they have it all wrong.

He added that Larry Wright had told him he was sorry he could
not join us in Toronto and wished he was here.

Then Chris spoke of being in the Sea Org in LA in PAC and being attacked unjustly by Jenny DeVocht
who was in-charge.
He spoke of the perpetual stress and being frantically busy all the time.
Of the shock and shame for having been struck, of assuming it must be his fault.
He used the analogy of battered-wife syndrome.

Nora spoke of having suffered much physical violence
but said that the worst violence was the mental torture.
The worst story she told was of a fellow SO member, 22, 6 weeks pregnant,
given a "separation order" - couldn't see or speak to her husband, locks changed,
..
She was suppressive as she would take her husband away from his extremely important job
of receiving telexes.
She also spoke of being screamed at every day, of the feeling of terror
when DM came to see them rehearse for the New Year's Event 2000.

The second session, after the break, was about hard-sell and Les Dane in $cientology.
Jon and Nora spoke.
Nora pointed out that the first time she experienced the hard-sell, she was 8!
An attempt to get her to sign a staff contract.
By the time she was 18, she had had 10 attempts to hard-sell her
on contracts for a total of about 30 hours."

From Vaquera:

"Just gave Hana, Spanky, Pete, Spike, and Jon a hug goodbye. Wonderful, loving people each and every one of them."

When I am able to, I want to write a post, or several, about the Getting Clear Conference.
Professor Jim Beverley and Jon Atack assembled a remarkable group of people with an extraordinary range and depth of knowledge and experience.

Fortunately for us, as well as for posterity, it was recorded and will become an important part of the historical record.

It was unfortunate, but understandable, that OSA declined to send someone to speak, as Jim Beverley had hoped, but that

really would have been unprecedented.

Scientology is quite simply incapable of competing in the free and open marketplace of ideas.

The exposure of lies, half-truths, contradictions, fraud and criminality that form Scientology accumulate with such astonishing speed, that it is difficult, at times, to keep up

(Witness Sylvia Stanard's debacle at the Chautauqua Institute before an audience with rudimentary knowledge.)

Consider the role of Aleistair Crowley in Hubbard's development, and read the quote below which both Jamie Kennedy(Nib's grandson) and Jon Atack confirm as accurate.

Does anyone know when YouTube videos or DVDs
of the event will be available? What's the plan?

View attachment 10698

Edit:
Chris Shelton in his most recent video mentioned
the event would not be a YouTube release, but rather
a product that could be purchased. Pay-to-stream or
DVDs, I'm guessing. He said there was about 30 hours
of speaker content. (Might take a bit to edit and package
all of that, I'm thinkin'.)

My 11-DVD box set shoop earlier was a pretty good guess. :coolwink:

PS: Idea
. . . publish all the videos on a USB memory stick
that people could purchase from you and play on their
computers. Easy to produce and mail.

I've read multiple conflicting explanations.

Apparently, Jim Beverley owns the copyright. What will happen when people who gave talks want to post their talks, and others' talks, on their sites remains to be seen.

It would be a shame if the 30 hours of talks were not available for broad public examination on places such as YouTube.
