Don't call him Doctor

Please don't refer to Hubbard as Dr.Hubbard, or put PhD or DScn after his name.

Hubbard attended George Washington university studying Civil Engineering. He did not complete any courses or earn any qualification. He then bought a PhD qualification from Sequoia university, without doing any work or passing and exams. Finally he awarded himself a DScn qualification. All bogus.

Hubbard never passed any university courses. He never earned any qualification. To call him Dr Hubbard is an insult to all those thousands who spent years studying and working to earn their degrees. The only qualification that Hubbard earned, and that with flying colours, is Fraudster.

So please don't call him Doctor. When you do, you are aiding and abetting his lies. He is simply Ron Hubbard, and that's it!

Which critic has ever done that? Just curious. I have never seen anyone but Scientologists call him a doctor.

Oh damn! I call him "Dr. Hubbard" all the time. LOL

I guess it's a kind of Poe's Law thing where it's sometimes not obvious that it's mocking his degree from Sequoia University. Maybe i need to put a tone scale emoticon in those posts somewhere? LOL

In any case, I plead guilty.

Mea Culta.

I have total certainty that Dr Hubbard states within his writings completely backing up your thesis.

I've referred to him as Dr. Hubbard on some occasions, but always in a sarcastic J &D'ing manner, and in circumstances where I assumed the reader would understand that no respect was ever intended.

I assume that anyone who reads my posts on a regular basis would understand that.

Yes, I know it can be dangerous to assume.

I don't recall ever seeing anyone around here put Dsc or Phd after his name and anyone calling him Dr. Hubbard is obviously joking so I don't see the point of this thread.

I think we're all clued-up on his lack of qualifications and his ability to lie about everything.

Is this your biggest problem in life ?

BTW, the correct designation is: "El Con Hubbard"

OK, I used the search button in the top right corner, and got 42 pages of hits on "Dr.Hubbard". I hope they were all joking or mocking. But my rant was provoked by someone putting DSc or PhD after his name, and I can 't find that one now.

If you found them and reposted here we could all have a good laugh together.

Well then those individuals need to be sent to cramming and read the Flounder's issue of the 1960's wherein he commanded no one refer to him as a Dr ccoz he didn't want to be associated with such such scoundrels. They can find it by doing an INCOMM query but need to make sure they include " hidden files".

YES! I want to see a Knowledge Report write-up on this!
:coolwink:
Hope the writer gets a quote from the reference I mentioned above.

If anyone did either of those things on ESMB in a serious way, using "Dr. Hubbard" or putting PhD/DSc after his name they would get hit with so much ridicule and WTF's that they wouldn't make the error of doing it a second time.

Hubbard's fraudulent bio and use of credentials is well known around these parts of the internet.

I didn't remember anyone calling him "Dr. Hubbard" either, so thought I'd repeat OP's search to point out what he'd done wrong.

Heh. My search on "Dr.Hubbard" also showed 42 pages of results, which reduced to 30 pages (749 posts) when examined more closely (the ESMB search facility does this, as does Google's). Digging in a bit more, it looks like each of those 749 posts did in fact include strings like "Dr.Hubbard" or "Dr. Hubbard" or even "Dr. L. Quack Hubbard". The most prolific offender was Hoaxie, although Hoaxie's posts are often not meant to be taken at face value.

Now, where's that  smiley?

Yeah....but that Delusional and Paranoid Crazy Dr Hubbard invented a delusional Bridge to Total Spiritual Freedom. And it is still being $old today.

I say he deserves to be called A DOCTOR OF FRAUD! An expert in the field..if you will.

Bitter defrocked apostate
It's all the fault of the British, who forced poor old Ron to raise the stakes and make himself an obvious fraud.
Russell Miller: Bare-faced Messiah said:
In February 1953, Hubbard decided it was necessary to bolster his status with the phlegmatic British by acquiring some academic qualifications. He knew precisely where they were available - from Sequoia University in Los Angeles. The 'university' of Sequoia was owned by Dr Joseph Hough, a chiropracteur and naturopath who ran a successful practice from a large house in downtown Los Angeles and conferred 'degrees' on whoever he thought merited them. Richard de Mille was awarded a Ph.D. from Sequoia, somewhat to his surprise, for a slim volume he had written under the title An Introduction to Scientology.

On 27 February, de Mille, who was then living in Los Angeles, received an urgent telegram from Hubbard in London: 'PLEASE INFORM DR HOUGH PHD VERY ACCEPTABLE. PRIVATELY TO YOU. FOR GOSH SAKES EXPEDITE. WORK HERE UTTERLY DEPENDANT ON IT. CABLE REPLY. RON.' De Mille found Hough thoroughly agreeable and replied the following day: 'PHD GRANTED. HOUGH'S AIRMAIL LETTER OF CONFIRMATION FOLLOWS. GOOD LUCK.' It was in this way that Hubbard acquired the distinction of appending letters to his name - a mysterious 'Doctorate of Divinity' would follow shortly, along with a 'D. Scn'.

I still recommend Bare-faced Messiah today. Despite all the additional loony stuff that happened post-1987, it's a great book – and it delivers a very healthy dose of closure. It demonstrates that Hubbard was clearly a sad, bitter fantasist and that all his victims should move on and do something better with their lives.
