Well, they're free of CofS and they feel free to practice what they want to practice. But if you were to ask me if I thought that FZers and other non CofS Scientologists could be in danger of being defined by a label and fit into a little box, in a way, yes, I think it's possible. That's certainly why I ended up ditching the label.

Oh. it makes perfect sense! This thread and all your posts are thoughtful and well stated. Your anguish about your inability to be with your mother because of LRH's 'ethics' is so understandable and certainly a natural reponse. There will be some who know this more acutely from similar experiences, like Marcus concerning his brother. One cannot know the depth of pain in situations where the connection was stopped intentionally and covertly. I pray you will find more peace as you go along on this new adventure as a non-scientologist! Your delight in being free is delightful!

Thank you, Mary! I'm delighted!

It's like getting out of deep dungeons where you had buried yourself for many many years, and finally allowed yourself to see the LIGHT. And - My God! - how beautiful the light is! Just the light. No thoughts about the light. Just pure perception of its beauty.

I think writing is your way, to go around with your past and your time were you was a Scientologist. Now you are not a Scientoligist. You must not tell the public everything what happen, maybe a diary helps. In a few days, years, month,... you can read again your thoughts and see how your live changed to anything better.

Maybe you should think about it, what it means not beeing a Scientologist. I mean how should your life be in 1 month or maybe in 10 years. You are having now the chance to create your life.

The board does help you, but sometimes is it usefull to talk with a real person. I don't know if you are having a friend, maybe one of your old friends. In Germany (in Russia?) exist advice centers they are specialist on sects. Maybe you can go there and talk with people.

But you are now free and I am sure you will find your way to get lucky.

Thank you, sauerlaenderin!

Good thing is that I do have my dad and do have relatives and friends who were never into this crap. And they are REALLY very good people (as I see them now, having stripped off this scientological crap off myself).
I befriended with my dad this year again (after all those years of being mentally "away"). Before that I had always been fighting with him to "bring him to understanding" which "I had". He didn't surrender. And now I'm very happy with that fact. :happydance:

So to say, I don't feel a need to go to a specialist at this point. I still have my "comm lines" in! Thank God!

That is good. The socialworker in me awake :wink2: and wanted to take care! :)
You will know which way to go! I am sure.

But one question does in Russia exist specialist on sects? It interrests me. In Germany do they exist in every big town.

I know for a fact that Russian Orthodox Church is all over it (regarding sects).

I don't think that Social Psychology network is well developed here... Can't tell since I haven't looked into it...

Something I've got to tell more about.

There was my failure and unwillingness to differentiate between what *I* think and what "I believe as true" (most of which came from Hubard's words which were hammered and pounded into my head with numerous "number of times over the materials equals certainty" plus starrate checkouts plus clay demos plus "show me a reference"... ).

I think it's been for me just having been glued to that false identity where *I* was something extraneous and stupid and what acted was "I" as total TULPA of LRH's teachings....

Something like that...

P.S. And I think that it's what Scientologists have hard time with in their communications with anyone outside of their perimeter (non-Scientologists and others). They can't DIFFERENTIATE between what they really know (with their own perceptions) from what they've been taught by Hubbard and the Church. imho

There was an original post above "i'm not a scientologist".

"To be or not to be", THAT's the question.

To be a Scientologist means to believe in "LRH said.."
Not to be a Scientologist means NOT to believe in what "LRH said..." .
But (!!!!!!!!) this last one also means many other things that are to be experienced, without and beyond what "LRH said..."
I mean that Hubbard is just a trace in our overall spiritual experience and game. (For Ex-Scientologists).

It doesn't make sense but - i'm NOT a scientologist.

It makes sense to me - I am NOT a scientologist too.

You could make a "Bridge" chart, with awareness characteristics, that goes something like:

0. Life Repair/Grade 0 cognition - The TECH works! - I am a scientologist.
1. Nth trip to Ethics, getting body routed to RPF - You are PTS (effect, effect)
2. Getting declared - You are an SP (in the eye of the beholder)
3. Leaving the COS - I am not a member.
4. Optional detour: Admin/Tech works - Freezone.
5. Admin/Tech does not work! - NOT A SCIENTOLOGIST.

Congratulations! You are now "Clear" of scientology indoctrination!

The only thing is ... when you talk to a registrar (or any other COS member in good standing) they have absolutely NO idea what it means when you say "I am not a scientologist". You are better off telling them you are a "declared SP". That is the limit of their "awareness".

Little of my life story:
Read Dianetics in August 1993.
Joined S.O. in Moscow (Walter Cotric was CO) almost immediately after being offered in March 1994.

Hi Vadim,
I'm interested in the unique elements of a Russian being attracted to expensive courses involving the ideas of an American sci fi writer's "religion" or system of self improvement.

Do any of these things play into its attractiveness:

1. It's an American thing and therefore exotic and exciting.
2. It may present an opportunity to go the the United States.
3. It's an opportunity to improve one's English, which is, after all, an important international language.
4. Was the association of American movie stars like Travolta and Cruise, with Scientology, an attractive element of it for you at all?

Also, do you think that if the year were 2012 when you read Dianetics for the first time, instead of 1993, that you would have used the Internet and not gotten into Scientology?

Also, Scientology strikes the outsider as a system of control (like the security checks you mentioned) that reminds us of the Soviet system or the Stasi of the former East Germany. I know it is presented as "freedom" but at what point did you realize this is more like what your parents went through with the old style of Soviet control?
