Not open for further replies.

as I'm sitting here, we are doing the tickets for the Coast Starlight to and from LA, where we're taking the youngest kids to Disneyland. The trip starts at 10 AM in San Jose and gets to LA's Union Station at 9PM.

It is easier to drive and way quicker. But train travel isn't going to be around forever, and this is a beautiful trip.

When our kids were little, we took them to Chicago, Washington, DC, Seattle, Portland by train. It was fun.

My Observations

On the “GE.”

Hubbard first wrote of it in around 1952, and it was written up perhaps most fully in his “History of Man”— formerly titled “What to Audit.”

As usual, his notes on the subject are in the vein of generalities and not very explicit, as can be seen from folks comments on it here.

Personally, what I have found is this. (And this speaks to Hats’s posts #7548 and # 7551 on this thread.)

Basically, the basis to all this “GE” and body stuff began long ago before the Physical Universe. There are a series of Spiritual Domains of Existence or, put another way, Domains of Existence we spiritual Beings presenced ourselves as in order to be in relationships with others. During these relationships/”games” we recorded impressions and turbulence in our own spiritual presence of Being or “energy field.”

It is to be noted that as we continued on down the time trail, and as the various relationships and games ran into strife, we solved them by creating new conditions and new bases (basic phenomena for) our relationships. Indeed, each new Domain of Existence was a solution for the upset and strife of the one preceding it.

Alan W wrote of these in his books. In around the middle of the decline down the time trail we have Domains or “Universes” wherein we created objects and used them in positions against each other in a relationship Alan refers to as “The Opposing Spiritual Objects Universe.” Later, we went through relationship/games he refers to as: The Spiritual Being Identities Universe, The Spiritual Beings as Objects Universe; and a key one for the discussion here, The Your Own and Others’ Valuable Creations Universe—which is also referred to as “The Cores,” which is a series of creations based on and both encompassing and comprised of the foregoing Universes debris that is in essence a forerunner of what we see as the DNA at the core of our bodily cells.

I have skipped several of the universes of the sequence in order to be brief here, but I have personally viewed a lot of this material, and found what Alan wrote to be valid.

Bottom line, what we are now seeing as the physical universe and the bodily structure we are familiar with, is the end result of all of our activities and created solutions along down the time trail. It is all within us, and actually composed of our “energy” or Life-Force. It is “real” or has reality because we have all contributed to this scenario . . . even if as a result of our conflicts with each other down along the line.

So, of course, individuals would perceive such things as discussed on this point as “being in their mind” or “being in their brain.” That’s the appearance of where we condensed it all down to . . . inside of us.

As to the “GE,” I and others have observed and processed spiritual teammate groups (spiritual teams) that we have linked up with who wear the hats of such functions as “the Body Team,” of “the Mind Team.” In other words they look after those functions and areas of our operating.

The trap has been that we have often not been too friendly with nor honoring of our spiritual team members. They have often been abused, suppressed, oppressed, invalidated . . . you name it. Hubbard’s thing on it is a good example . . . to him they were BT’s, degraded Beings to be gotten rid of! :duh:

My view is that my Bodily Spiritual Team is what I was looking at when I believed in Hubbard’s thing of GEs. Nowadays, I have addressed and worked with my various spiritual teams and rehabilitated our harmonious relationship and alignments . . . and my body runs better because of it :D as does my mind.

And none of this invalidates the “scientific findings” as to observations on the mechanical structure and observed phenomena of the brain or the functioning/structure of the body. Those observations are correct, but are also incomplete and also lacking in address to any comprehension of “how come.”

As to music and its affect on the “brain” and us . . . I would say it is a synthesis of the effects of the resonance of earlier expressed spiritual emotions. Folks I know who are advanced in their spiritual processing are aware that one’s moods/emotions are actually as a “wave-length” or “carrier wave” of our own spiritual Being when we are relating and projecting and exchanging and reciprocating with others. Moods are a something the Being actually feels within itself as it itself is resonating on that particular harmonic.

Oh, and yes, Hats, our old imagery and “mock-ups” do reside at a cellular level also, as this a fractal universe . . . . so it figures that you could observe the conveyance of such info via spermatozoa and ovum :p

Hope the above does not offend too many :D I was away yesterday, and am just catching up.

Oh, yes, PS: on the music thing Lakey; my dad was an opera singer, and I played the violin a little in my younger years. So, “good” music is a thing I am very much into.

I saw my first channeling - also comments on music

I'll just combine two recent topics here to promote one of my favorite books: This Is Your Brain On Music.

The following review is from Amazon's pages:

This review is from: This Is Your Brain on Music: The Science of a Human Obsession (Hardcover)

There are questions that are too big for science; are there gods, for instance, or what is love? And maybe we will never fully find out scientifically why music does what it does and why we care about it so. But for many reasons, music ought to be a profitable subject for scientific enquiry. It is, as Pythagoras knew, an activity strongly rooted in mathematics, and the physics of music is fairly well understood. It is as universal as language; all human cultures have some sort of music, indicating it does something indispensable. And we are increasingly able to figure out, with our sophisticated brain imaging gadgets, what brains do when they hear or think about music. The neuroscience of music is the area of expertise of Daniel J. Levitin, and he writes of it in _This Is Your Brain on Music: The Science of a Human Obsession_ (Dutton), a fascinating account of current music psychology. Levitin has produced a book wonderfully accessible to lay readers, since although he is an academic (he runs the Laboratory for Musical Perception, Cognition, and Expertise at McGill University), before he became a scientist, he had been a performing musician, sound engineer, and record producer, working with names like Steely Dan and Blue Oyster Cult. He does pull examples from Bach and Beethoven, but he is obviously more comfortable citing universally-known tunes like "Happy Birthday to You", "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", or "Stairway to Heaven". (Readers whose tastes range in previous epochs will possibly be surprised at the sophistication modern popular musicians have displayed.) Levitin has a good sense of humor and is a genial explainer.

He starts out with a forty page first chapter "What is Music?", which is as good a short explanation of key concepts as tone, scale, fifths, and timbre as anyone could want, and is a fine foundation for all that comes after, a collection of scientific lore and tidbits from all over. For instance, even if you are not a musician, you have a huge store of tunes in your memory. You may not have perfect pitch, the ability to know that an A flat is an A flat as soon as you hear it, but Levitin's own research has provided surprising evidence that your sense of pitch, even if you are not a musician, is really quite good. Subjects who were asked to sing a song from memory got the absolute pitch just right, or very close; they did the same with the song's tempo. There are differences in the brains of musicians and nonmusicians. The corpus callosum, the mass of fibers that connects the right brain hemisphere to the left, is larger in musicians, and is especially larger in those that started music training early. The overall lesson here, though, is that we are all musical, even if we are not musicians, and so non-expert musical brains are really very similar to expert ones. There are descriptions here of surprising research that makes clear how truly ready our brains are to incorporate musical experience. Fetuses in the last three months of gestation, for instance, can hear music within the womb, along with other outside and inside noises. Experiments have shown that if you repeatedly play a song into the womb, and then make sure the child does not hear it again after birth until it is one year old, and then play the music again, the infant will prefer hearing the womb-music rather than completely novel music. This was true whether the experimental music was Vivaldi or the Backstreet Boys.

Levitin certainly has connections; he tells of discussions with Francis Crick about themes in this book, as well as with Joni Mitchell. The final chapter, "The Music Instinct", is a response to cognitive scientist Steven Pinker, who spoke at a 1997 convention of researchers in music perception and cognition. Pinker took the dismissive stance that music was "auditory cheesecake", tickling the parts of the brain that were really for the important functions of language and (unlike language) useless as a force in human evolution. It is not surprising that Levitin and his fellow researchers disagree. Darwin himself felt that musical tones were used in conveying emotion and that those who were able to expend energy in singing or playing were demonstrating biological and sexual fitness. Musical success does make for high numbers of opportunities for spreading one's genes (just ask Mick Jagger). Interest in music peaks in adolescence, indicating a role in sexual selection. Music has been around longer than agriculture, and there is no evidence that language actually preceded music in our species. It may have promoted the cognitive development that was harnessed for speech. Only in the past few hundred years did music become a spectator activity, but in the eons when it could have shaped our social evolution, it was a group activity that may have promoted group togetherness and synchrony. It is an engaging final argument that serves to emphasize the importance of all that the book has presented before, a demonstration that looking at an important human activity in a scientific way only increases our wonder and delight in the activity itself.

Ginger's Wellness Center in Orange County put on an event last night and they had a channeler. I saw my first live demo. He was channeling an ET named something like Bedronus or Pedronus. I did not see the name in print so I don't know how to spell it.

MUSIC and CHANNELING - Prior to channeling, the group of which the channelr is a part but on a Gong and "Bowls" musical exhibition. Oddly, there were two men playing empty glass bowls, striking them with mallets with padded heads. The bowls were two sizes so they each gave a different musical note. Once the bowls were struck, the mallets were dragged around the upper rims of the bowls. Meanwhile, the Gong expert was doing all sorts of things with her gong, including striking it, then turning it sidesways and striking it again to set up standing waves of sound reverberting against one another.

I was fascinated with the bowls. The bowls use the exact same technology as the Glass Harmonica, invented by Ben Franklin in America in the mid 19th century. Dr Mesmer of Mesmerism fame owned a glass harmonica in Vienna around 1764. In Franklin's instrument, various glass bowls are different sizes and they are filled with water so that all notes of the standard mucial scale are playable by the instrument. The gong players only had two bowls and no water was used. Mozart and his Dad visited Mesmer in 1764 when Mozart was 8 and he wrote a piece for the instrument. Shortly before his death, he wrote another much larger piece which I already posted here.

The gong is a magnificent instrument. When the gong is struck and then rotated 90 degrees and struck again, the room seems to go askew. The room fills with sound, vibrating air. When the waves are made to clash with each other, the vibration of the air become very apparent. I can almost "see" the columns of air vibrating in the room. This vibration is quite similar to sight for me. It must contain the principes of "sonar" or "echo" technology as is used by both dolphins and in submarines at sea.

GONG AND BOWL MUSIC
There are only 3 distinct notes so not much is possible in the realm of melody. However, rhythm is certainly very possible as are musical dynamics such as loudness and softness. Particularly striking are soft passages building up in gradient crescendos until they are very loud and just take over the entire room. The exact opposite is also possible, going loud to soft. The effect is not as dramatic in scope as going soft to loud but going loud to soft, can set the mood for doing meditation. Unique to the gong, the only instrument which I have encountered which has the capability, the opposing waves at various angels creating standing waves, etc. are extremely dynamic and bring in more senses than just sense of sound. In these manuevers, visual, tactile and emotional components are brought to life.

Meanwhile, all these various effects of vibration resonate very strongly with ones spiritual essence. As spiritual beings we emit and receive vibrations. Just intuitively, that tells me why music is such a big deal with individuals and in various societies. A society will respond to the music most similar to its societal vibration. Thus you have the Third Reich big on bombastic marching displays of sound or particularly responding to Beethoven's powerful musical statements. In a country such as India, that society would not at all respond to what the 3rd Reich enjoyed but would respond to music which promotes an atmosphere for meditation. Chinese or Japanese music, I just have almost no reality on. Squeak, squeak, clink, clink, it does not do anything for me personally.Turkish or Greek music brings out sensual and artistic dancing in people. Italian and French music promote love. What about Islam? They disallow music from what I have been told. Under a regime such as the Taliban, if you are caught listening to music, your music system is destroyed and you are subject to severe punishment. Go figure! Are they nuts or what?

This post is sufficiently long. I'll talk about the channeling on a separate post.

OK Ted, I just took a snippet from that review. What it says is more or less true for today's "typical western style" music, the mainstream if you so will; that stuff can be relatively easily expressed by mathematics. BPM, common dividers in frequencies etc. - but when you listen to e.g. Chinese music from a few centuries ago... I find it incredibly hard to recognize a mathematical concept in there, if any at all.

If I find the time, I'll digitize and upload some songs from approximately 700 years ago, that have been recorded about 30 years ago. Directed by scientists, these records were produced for the "Museum für Völkerkunde" (Museum for Anthropology) in Berlin, Germany. Although these sounds can be explained with the historical and technical concepts of that time, explaining them with math wouldn't work. Just too many variables involved - plus there is no way to mathematically express "cultural background". Since "fixed" frequencies didn't exist at that time, and there was no constant beat, where would you find your "hook" to hang your math on anyway?

So yes, music and it's effects on people (or psychoacoustic phenomenons in general) is definitely something scientists should explore, but that'd be a subject for interdisciplinary research. Mathematics alone could hardly scratch the surface of that topic.

job advice for a fresh college grad

My girl friend from junior high, who is still my friend, called last week end. Her daughter finished college at Santa Clara University last year. she had a double major in biology and french (I think). She spent last year working at some top cancer research place in Seattle. She discovered that she doesn't like research.

She's 21, has a college degree, is smart, needs to work for a living. She has some artistic talent.

Any suggestions for her in finding her direction in life, making a buck, etc?

Chicken Nuggets

I thought you might want to see this - it's a photo of mechanically separated meat- the meat that goes into chicken nuggets, hot dogs, and all sorts of things.

Fooducate writes:

picture.php

Someone figured out in the 1960s that meat processors can eek out a few more percent of profit from chickens, turkeys, pigs, and cows by scraping the bones 100% clean of meat. This is done by machines, not humans, by passing bones leftover after the initial cutting through a high pressure sieve. The paste you see in the picture above is the result.
There's more: because it's crawling with bacteria, it will be washed with ammonia... Then, because it tastes gross, it will be reflavored artificially. Then, because it is weirdly pink, it will be dyed with artificial color.
Here's the article it came from:

Very nice post, I enjoyed the entire post, but particularly the parts I highlighted in blue in the 2nd half of the post.

Those team hook ups, the Body Team or the Mind Team are really real to me. In 2002, I was really having some body issues as regards clogged arteries and also an enlarged prostrate gland. I talked to Bob Bushling at the O.C. Org and he stated something which caught my attention and helped me to better conditions. After explaining to him what was going on, which I was using as an explanation to route out of that Org on a medical leave, he said to me, "It sounds to me like you are ARC broken with your body!" I know he evaluated but it was the correct indication. I came way up tone and responded that I was ARC broken with my body. I was only 62 years old then and I was in danger of a heart attack or stroke whereas everyone else in my family was living to their late 80's or into their 90's. May grandma even lived to one month short of 106!

Bushling arranged for me to get some touch assists and their D or T gave me one memorable touch assist session. This guy was OT3 and resonated far better with me than the young kids, non OT, who had been giving me sessions. He had a great communication cycle, and my perceptics really turned on. Though my eyes were closed, I "saw" him standing near my feet and could see his finger approach my body every time. I knew where the touch was going to be about 1/2 second before every touch. The inside of my body, had entities everywhere, each one manning a different station, so to speak. There were beings monitoring the lungs, kidneys, spleen, pancreas, all those organs. The heart muscle was really down tone, just fending for itself and protesting. After each command, I would smile or chuckle and after about 12 commands, I just started laughing. The auditor said, "What's going one?" I told him what I was observing and I told him that I sent a message to all of the beings working inside my body. I said to them, "Hey guys, we are all in this together! Please do your job and I will do mine and exercise and lose weight and eat better. If we don't do our jobs, we will all be looking for a new home very soon." I just started laughing and session was ended.

That touch assist turned out to be a major session for me. From that point forward, my body started to pick up and my heart troubles have pretty well gone away. Things got better on a gradient, not overnight. I owe Bushling and that D of T who gave me the touch assist a big thank you!

Another nice thing about the quoted post is that spiritual and mental technology is not directly opposed to today's brain and medical technology. A link is provided between the two fields. This is very critical and is a big plus! Also, the comments on your Dad being an opera singer are uplifiting!

It's a good post but a very overly complicated way of saying that we descended the dynamics by being each in turn and that all past identities are still present overlaying each other.

Lakey, I've posted elsewhere on ESMB, and even here on this thread, on the subject of "Harmonic resonance."

It's a big subject . . . it even been known to cause major engineering structures to fail and collapse (the famous "Narrows Bridge" up in Washington State [or was it Brit. Columbia?] is the example cited in the video I post here.

But in music, did you know that "all" violins have what we fiddlers refer to as a "wolf-tone" . . . this is a particular pitch or note that (is different for each instrument) when resonating sets up a harmonic that interferes with its own harmony such that it comes out crappy.

The big challenge for musicians is to get instruments that don't have such patches on true notes or important notes.

Ya . . . the funny and confusing thing about it is that both positions and views are true! :p

The trick is to be able to knowingly have or operate based on either or even both at once.

Best is being able to operate with an awareness of the whole chain of development . . . . I'm not there yet

But at least I'm not stuck unknowingly is just one of the limitations :D

And these "Universes" I spoke of are not Hubbard's "Dynamics." These are way different orders of magnitude. Hubbard's Dynamics, in essence, a limited to and within the physical universe . . . with the exception of his no-description of the 7th & 8th Dynamics.

Just like the "Power Split" is not Hubbard's "emotional 'curve'". They are quite different orders of magnitude and, while appearing to be similar because there is an emotional aspect involved, they are completely different phenomena.

No problemo.

Just realize that the reviewer's comments are not mine, nor are they those of the book's author.

Being in possession of both a brain and a musical instrument, I found the information fascinating.

Welcome CW.

Reading this thread from the beginning is a daunting task…I know ‘cause I did about 6 months ago and it’s more than doubled in pages since then.:confused2:

This thread is sort of a collaborative community of crazy people, metaphysical mulletheads and older folks with too much time on their hands and no supervision, but like the old adage goes, we might be crazy but we’re not stupid.:coolwink:

The Sun never sets on the Apollo ’73 thread. There are folks here from all around the world and the whole gamut from never in Scn or briefly in, all the way to highly trained “Techies” or personally worked with El Ron El Rey Hisself. There is a veritable cornucopia of valuable, well written and interesting information—and irreverent silliness and fartin' around—in all these 700 plus pages...or 700 plus turd piles as some would label them.

I was one of the "Southern Land Develpment and Leasing Corporation" and “United Churches” front guys that snuck into your nice little corner of the world in the dead of night back in the ‘70’s. Sorry, Pal—“I was just following orders”. I’ve been out of Scn for over twenty years and have told some of the story on ESMB, mostly on this thread. :melodramatic:

There are lots of good folks here and your sure welcome to join our “Moveable Feast”.:happydance:

Best Wishes,

Face:)

PS: There's also some wonderful investment opportunities here, but you'll have to talk to Carmelo or Nozeno about those.

Mark Purdy:
Like the man said, Giants baseball is torture

ATLANTA -- Prediction for today: The Giants will show up here at Turner Field for their next game. Their locker-room sound system will be playing the sounds of a dentist's drill. Their uniforms will be covered with poison ivy sap. And they will be forced to take the field by trotting across a bed of flaming hot coals.

None of that could be any more cruel than what the Giants endured here Sunday -- or any more cruel than what their fans have endured throughout this playoff series with the Atlanta Braves. Could it?

"You're living on the edge," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy.

No, they are living on the edge of a razor blade that is on the edge of a cliff that rests above the edge of a pond filled with the stomach acid and curse words being churned out by Atlanta manager Bobby Cox.

The Giants, just as advertised, are a team that turns torment and angst into a scheduled daily activity. Sunday, they took a 1-0 advantage into the eighth inning. Then they blew the lead. Then they un-blew it, by coming back in the top of the ninth to score two runs and defeat the Braves 3-2.

This gives the Giants a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series. And they should be paying inning-by-inning royalties to one of their broadcast voices, Duane Kuiper. Over the summer, after yet another gut-twisting close game, Kuiper coined the phrase: "Giants baseball -- torture!" It has become an unofficial team motto.

"Certainly by no means do we ever want to be tortured out there," said outfielder Aubrey Huff, who drove in Sunday's tying run. "It just seems like every game "... everything's so stressful. You know what I mean?"
We know what he means. All three games in this series have been decided by one run. All three have come down to the final pitch with the outcome in utter doubt. Anyone want to bet that it happens again today in Game 4? Anyone want to bet that it doesn't happen?

This season, the Giants played in 52 games that were decided by one run. They played in 28 more games that were decided by two runs. And they won 33 times after they entered the seventh inning either tied or behind on the scoreboard.

All of that prepared them for what's happening now, said rookie catcher Buster Posey.

"It probably helps us in that kind of situation like tonight," Posey said. "There wasn't a lot of panic in the dugout."

The truth is, amid the anguish, there is a lot of great strategic baseball machinery humming away. For example, Atlanta mounted its scoring rally in the eighth inning when, through a series of lineup maneuvers, Cox was able to get the exact matchup he wanted -- namely, Braves left-handed pinch hitter Eric Hinske against Giants right-handed reliever Sergio Romo. Hinske hit a two-run homer over the right-field wall, and the Braves had their 2-1 lead.

But then Bochy dealt his own cards in the top of the ninth. He sent up pinch hitter Travis Ishikawa to draw a walk -- and Ishikawa scored the tying run after singles by Freddy Sanchez and Huff.

Then up came Posey, who would illustrate another wicked aspect of postseason baseball -- namely, that sooner or later, a team's weakness is always exposed. In Atlanta's case, that was second baseman Brooks Conrad, filling in there because of injury. He already had committed two errors Sunday when Posey slammed a ground ball that went directly between Conrad's legs and drove in Sanchez for the Giants' eventual winning run.
Nothing out of the ordinary for this team.

"It's experience that you're able to draw on," Bochy said of learning to win late. "It's the way we play. If you play enough tight games, guys get accustomed to it. They know how big every pitch, every play, every at-bat is. In the ninth inning, the way they grinded out at-bats, that's pretty impressive off some tough pitchers. They found a way to get it done."

And here's how eerie it is getting. Sunday was Oct. 10. Ishikawa's uniform number is 10. In other words, No. 10 scored the winning run on 10-10-10. Not saying. Just saying.

"If I help the team win," Ishikawa said, "then I love close games."
On this Giants team, there's a lot of love going around.
