The Time I Nearly Made It at Flag As An Out of Org Trainee

Wow LA SCN. Thank you so very much. I shed a couple of tears reading your response. I wish I could just offload and cry into a bucket. God, there is nobody here to witness that, so why not. It will probably happen somewhere crazy, like Subway. That built-in truth detector of yours, of mine , of others: if that was all we took notice of, our lives would be taken care of to a large degree. 33 years. I salute you. You probably have heard this before, but I firmly believe that you were trying to help people for those 33 years, regardless of the latter detection of lies. When we are in the middle of something, we so much want it to be real. I wanted the Bridge. I wanted to come out the other side a free man. I firmly believed that was achievable. So did many others. I can only wonder what you got from your 33 years - and I would need to read your post - but I hope it was something tangible. I continue to search. I trust that knowing-ness that we have as much as possible. I hear you that there were times when yours was going off with alarm bells. I just wanted to love people more. Scientology was not the way to do that. I still believe that there is a way. I just have to keep looking. Much Love Greg

In case you haven't seen it. You might find this interesting. :)

William+Burroughs.jpg

An excerpt from Naked Scientology by William Burroughs, re. his experiences at St. Hill in the late 1960s:

I remember some old biddy dragging me into a broom closet... and asking me on the e-meter, "Do you have any unkind thoughts about L. Ron Hubbard? ... That reads. What do you consider that means?"

"He's so beautiful he dazzles me. I can't help resenting it sometimes."

In the words of Celine - "All this time I felt my self respect slipping away and finally completely gone. As it were, officially removed..."

Like an anthropologist who has, after unspeakable indignities, penetrated a savage tribe, I was determined to hang on and get the big medicine...

...I was ordered for a Joberg [Security Check] because I rockslammed [a type of 'read' on the e-meter] on a question, "What would have to happen before Scientology worked on everybody?" (I couldn't confront it.) The [1961] Joberg http://www.xenu.net/archive/books/isd/isd-5i.htm ...is published for the first time in Inside Scientology http://www.xenu.net/archive/books/isd/isd.htm [1972]...

..."That's it!" barks a sulky Sea Org lieutenant in the doorway of the Public Ethics Officer.

"Everybody line up for a Sec Check."

When my turn comes I pick up the cans.

"Do you consider St. Hill a safe environment?"

"Yes, of course I do."

"There's a read there. What do you consider that could mean?"

"Well, we're surrounded by suppressives. It frightens me to think of these devils all around us."

I was learning...

Scientology is the model control system... How did Hubbard do it? With the e-meter of course. The e-meter is, amongst other things, a reliable lie detector in expert hands...

Naked Scientology: http://www.apologeticsindex.org/Naked Scientology.pdf

John McMaster, the "world's first real Clear" of the 1960s, from a 1985 interview:

He [Hubbard] got the technology to a point where he had a sort of assembly line as he called it. And he told me he was putting all these square ball bearings on the assembly line, and then turning them into round ball bearings at the other end.

Burroughs, in his 'Naked Scientology', does express the view that there are some worthwhile aspects to Scientology, but refused the "invitation" to do the "OT levels," and was happy (relieved) to depart St. Hill when he did, never to return.

I thought he, Burroughs, did up through OT 2 Mims

Nope. :)

From a post on ESMB by DartSmohen:

"...After attesting [to Clear], the Reg asked him if he was ready to sign up for his OT levels.

"'I don't think so' was his waspish reply. The Div 6 lady asked him to write a success story on attesting clear.

"He wrote 'Adequate' and then flounced out of the building on his way back to NY."

Going to Flag these days is like walking into a LION'S DEN with hungry lions that act as if they have not been fed for years - and you are the RAW MEAT - whether you are an outer org trainee or a public paying for "services". It is extortion, bribery, spin, psychotic Sea Org members fleecing you of everything including your sanity.

L Ron Hubbturd was correct when he said "aberration is contagious" and FLAG is contaminated and contagious! No one returns to Flag - they quietly go away.

Flag does not get it - they don't care - they are too far gone! Fleecing its dedicated members are the goal - of everything they have and before they leave - they get some auditing to take the attention off of the fact that it is a criminal Morgue of epic proportions!!

The gig is up Flag - we have your number! Down with the Cult! Hip Hip Hooray!!

In LA I had a friend who went to Flag for the 'Financial Rescue' Rundown or whatever it was called. It was supposed to handle all factors preventing the person from financial affluence. She hoped it would help her become an affluent small business owner. No product after thousands of dollars.

Flag - the yeccchhh of technical perfection.

HI EVERYBODY!!!! (HI DR NICK)

Well I finally took the step. Now the waiting game starts (although I am not concerned). I got an email from a current Scientologist saying hello and wanting to be added as a friend. When I left a year ago they were still "in". I really liked them and their family. Great people. They would be great without Scientology, too.

I get messages from Scientologists. Very rarely I say hello back and that is the end of it. VERY BIZARRE CYCLES. They seem to be testing if I am still alive, or waiting for me to say something.

So...I got bored with it. I told this person via email that I am no longer connected to Scientology and I am content with my decision. I also let them know that they are welcome to communicate to me, but I understand if they do not want to.

I am testing to see if they are still in. I would think they are as I see them communicating with a current Scio.

I await their response.....if any. Could be interesting times.

Thanks Sindy. Firstly, WOW . Your husband went for 8 weeks and was there for 2 1/4 years. WTF!!!! I met a guy there who was a brother of a colleague of mine from my Org. He had been there 6 years. I wonder what sort of product they were trying to get for his Org. I found out that he finally made it back after 7 years.

There's a scam that Flag would do regarding org students. The students arrive, start on course, and then they are told that the org didn't make their room & board payments, so the students have to work for their lodging. And so the students work and work, giving Flag free slave labor.

I have never told anybody including family or friends this story. I have held it for 5 years. Thank you for listening.
You were treated really badly, onthepes. It's not surprising that you still have feelings about it. It's really disappointing when people you expected to be terrific turn out to be dreadful - or to behave dreadfully, at least. You went to Flag with your hopes really high, thinking you were going to meet really spiritual people. Instead...

When I was there as an OOT many moons ago, they had the OOT's clean the courseroom. I forget now if b/4 or after course. Anyways, I never did do it for a few months. But, some of my new friends, other OOT's, asked why I didn't help and pressured me a bit, so I decided to help clean. Gawd, at the time it pissed me off. Here I am on course training from 9 am to 10 pm and I gotta clean the fuck'in courseroom.:angry::angry::angry::angry:

I should have demanded a paycheck for services rendered.

Too funny, though, now I understand the whole scam.:angry::angry:

tl;dr but "nattery" :(

Just to clarify. I understand what Roland is saying here.

He is sad that OP used the word "nattery". I know where he is coming from because I felt the same apprehension when I read the word, as I do whenever I see someone using ScioSpeak outside of a facetious context.

Glad you're out Bud. I'm not sure if you are trying to stay under the radar, but just be aware that the church does read posts on here and does track people down. I know from personal experience.

I was an OOT for AOLA back in 2003-4. I had an interesting time to say the least. Might have been different for you because I was Sea Org. We were used to the constant badgering, being asked ridiculous questions, threatened and yelled at every time we did something wrong. As a matter of fact that is day to day life in the Sea Org. If you don't get yelled at it is strange.

I ended up having an affair there with someone of the same sex so I was of course kicked out and sent home.

I can only imagine what that flap was like for everyone else there at FLAG. I only experienced what happened to me with the offloading and stuff. Reflecting on it, I wish I could have seen everyone running around like chickens with their heads cut off screaming about, "How could this have happened!?" "Cover this shit up before more people find out!"

Good times, good times.

Thanks Cherished. Yes it was like when I was 8 years old and wanted a bike for Christmas only to unwrap my present to reveal "not a fucking shirt". Scientology is a bit like that

Thanks Adam. You found a novel way of getting kicked out. Boy, that would have been an interesting experience. Good point on flying under the radar. I guess I am going under the radar less and less these days. I come to realise - "what can they do?" apart from being annoying. They cannot take away my freedom :). Nice talking to you , buddy

Wow! FSO has become a true nightmare!:omg:

Just caught up with your story and it's miles away from the crap I experienced when I was there back in the late 80s but it was headed down that dark and evil path when I went there for the GAT release.

Thank you so much for putting this story down for us - I know how hard it is to write these sort of experiences.

The cult has truly totally gone insane if they treat people like you in that manner. That is abuse pure and simple - bullying of an outrageous degree. And, of course, you have to pay for it. Not them - they're too busy saving the planet to worry about DBs like you who've meditated once and turn up for training.:duh:

As an ex-Syd F'er myself, I know what you mean about the good folk still plugging away there thinking they're saving even us SPs from total spiritual oblivion.

Think I'll take the kids for a bike-ride down along the creek - this story brings back way too many unpleasant memories and it's a beautiful spring day outside.

When I was on lines, it used to annoy me when Flag was described as "The Mecca of Technical Perfection". It made me think that all the other orgs services were less than standard.

Not that it makes much difference now. It's all crap anyway. :confused2:

......... It was Class V Auditor training so realistically I may have died at Flag. .......

This is not such a far fetched idea...Thanks for your story and for not letting anything really bad happen to you at Flag!it's good to have a recent perspective. I really don't get why they treated you like that! As people do not feel free to speak to each other about the stresses they are going through at Flag when they are there, it is hard for one to compare notes. I always though it was me they considered the worst being in this hemisphere. But now that I know it is you, I feel much relief! :eyeroll: They are completely nuts.

I think it is satanic. What goes on in Scientology these days is unbelievably evil. It probably always has been, but it is really coming to fruition in the last few years. The foul nasty bits that I at one time thought were exceptions....just some individual asshole with a heap of MUs....has become SOP.

Thank-you for the story, onthepes. Every little bit contributes to the whole truth, the big picture.

I used to excuse it, same way. And for soooo long. It was interesting how that just stopped working at a point.

Thank you for letting that out.

Those guys are idiots.

So I was determined that enough was enough. I advised the MAA that I was not sure if I wanted to be there. He said "I don't think we want you here either". Then their boss (I assume) sat down to talk with me. I don't know his post. He read "Safeguarding the Tech" to me. I gathered it was due to my meditating once in my 3 years in Scientology.

I was routed off. I was escorted back to my hotel. The wanker who had kept asking me "What are you doing?" pulled my bag apart. There was a glossy magazine with a nice looking girl on the front. He glared at me "What is this?" I said "Just a magazine". He looked all through it. He then left my clothes and everything on the ground. I had to put it all back.

I was driven to a hotel near the airport which I paid for. There was a guy who was to stay with me. He looked awkward and apologetic. I asked him "What are you doing staying with me?' He said "I have to make sure you make it to the Airport". OMFG.

So I left Flag and never returned. Quite a deal happened after that but this was one of the big ones that stuck.

I have never told anybody including family or friends this story. I have held it for 5 years. Thank you for listening.
