Congratulations Aaron. I remember the Balmain Courthouse from my days in Sydney.

Why are Australian judges less corrupted/corruptible than many of their USA counterparts?

I know that you'd be aware of this Graham, but for those who aren't......

In NSW (and throughout Australia), magistrates, police and all those who have jurisdiction, are *watched* pretty closely. When they don't strictly adhere to mandates, more often than not they are made accountable.

*Governing* can be a pain (especially when some of the laws leave a lot to be desired), but when it comes to this area it works to our advantage. From what I can tell, it would seem that judges or magistrates in Oz are taking a far bigger risk than those in the States if they choose to go down crooked lane, and they would have had to have done something pretty wild in order to see the risk of submitting to blackmail less than the risk of "breaking the rules".
