Been asked by a few people if I'm still a Scientologist and believe in "the tech". Nope. I'm not. And I don't. While I can respect people's individual beliefs, (okay, even certain ones so long as it's not just HATE), I think the "church" needs to be closed down as a criminal organization so families can reunite and people are free to live without threats and abuse.

Excellent post.

Excellent post.

Yeah, I'm much the same, who are you talking to though?

<edit> I got it now, the first para was a quote from Amy, the second was your comment.

Certainly is a good post. I agree with her completely.

Critics have been dumping on Amy lately because of a reported posting by Robin Scott on Facebook that Amy claimed ANYONE speaking critically of Marty Rathbun is an "OSA dupe".

I believe Amy was referring to a specific individual known to Amy & Marty, but alot of ex-Scios & anons took issue with the comment, believing Amy was speaking about people, in general.

Amy's recent posting proves that she can "agree to disagree" with Marty on the tech and still remain friends. I think Marty has long had a problem accepting those that criticize him for is acceptance & practice of the Tech. He takes the criticism as a personal insult, when it wasn't intended to be. Unfortunately, Marty is not alone when it comes to some people taking personal offense to any criticism waged against something they have said or believe to be true.

I have good friends that believe in the Tech, and some that think it's a waste of time. That's their opinion. It's not my role in life to determine what's best for someone else. Regardless, I think we all have gifts & experiences that each of us can learn from.

I already knew Amy believed that. And I completely share her position. Put that fucking "church" out of its misery already! The sooner, the better.

Smurf, based on my close acquaintance with friends who used to be Scientologists but now are not -- who have long been and are currently friends with Marty -- I think it's inaccurate to suggest Marty won't be friends with exes. That doesn't conform to the information I have.

BTW, I completely agree with your (Smurf's) statement that it's not our business to tell someone else what they should or should not believe (speaking strictly about "beliefs," that is). Debate and disagreement are wonderful things. They're big contributors to personal growth, tolerance, learning, etc.

Otherwise, I fear, we wind up with more of the same disconnection crap.

And then we get to live ignorantly ever after in the same booming echo chamber for the rest of our lives.

He seems to be inconsistent about this. He has said a lot of negative things about critical of Scn exes on his blog. Go to his blog and do a search for "anti-Scientology" and you'll see what I mean. He has said or implied that people who want Scientology to be totally eradicated are as bad as DM.

That's not what I said. I said Marty took issue with those that criticized him for continuing to practice the tech & applauding LRH. Marty heavily moderates his blog and his critics have seen their posts deleted or responded to by Marty, with personal insults. I tried posting a positive comment on one of his videos, but couldn't. He had blocked me.

Marty has very right to continue drinking & enjoying the Kool Aid. He needs not to take offense against those that don't drink it. I've been criticized & ridiculed over the years by people because I still enjoy Mormon Kool Aid. I'm not an active member & don't agree with the direction Mormon leaders have taken over the years on substantive issues, by there are elements of the LDS faith that I respect & honor, and I financially contribute to my nephew & sons of friends who are on their fulltime missions for the Church.

And, by their rules, I'm an inactive Mormon. I haven't been ex-communicated. I have friends & acquaintances that, again, think only in black-and-white terms, and neither understand or accept this. That's not my problem.

I believe a huge part of the problem is that, until Marty arrived on the scene and created what would become a core group of Independent Scientologists, is that many ex-Scios & critics never comprehended that an off-shoot of Scientology was possible.. they all lived with the idea that to eradicate a disease, you had to kill it.

The Independent Scientologists movement remains suspect to alot of people. Some have critiicized Mark Bunker & others for "going over to the dark side". Regardless, there are those of us that have friends & allies among Independent Scientologists, and respect their right to practice whatever they want as long as their not hurting anyone else, and there will always be those that think in black-and-white terms & never accept it.

We all can learn from each other.

Great to hear that you are no longer a Scientologist and a follower of that despicable Hubbard .
I do know your husband Matt whom I found to be one of the most decent and helpful persons in the cult when he was staff .

I Look forward now to reading your book!!

Smurf,

For once I agree with you for the most part. This strikes me as one of the fairest things you've ever said about those who still choose to practice Scientology(no tm) outside of the Co$.

LOL Smurf LOL

The following thoughts are my own personal thoughts, opinions and viewpoints.
They do NOT reflect the thoughts of my affiliations,my friends, or anyone else.

People have an innate character. Everyone has a UNIQUE fingerprint, UNIQUE DNA and UNIQUE personality.

For example, if a person is happy and upbeat, they will import that into any group or religious group they join.

If a person has an evil streak, they will import that into any group or religion they join.

Hence we have a spectrum of good and evil people in all religions
There are good and evil Ex-Scientologists, good and evil Catholics, Good and Evil Indies, Good and Evil Muslims.

To stereotype everyone in any group as DELUDED, CRAZY, INSANE is a generality.

I like that phrase, "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly !"
