Other than make me vomit and have diarrhea, CalMag never did anything for me. In fact, I felt better for having rejected it.

It Did Nothing for Me

Cal-mag did nothing for me that I noticed, but then I always ate my veggies . . . and got my calcium & magnesium that way:yes: The best way

Some cal-mags that did not correctly complete the chemical reaction between the cider vinegar and the alkaline of the calcium and magnesium always tasted awful . . . but that, I suspect, was because the dunce making it didn't have the temperature up sufficiently to facilitate the reaction, or that the amount of acid vs alkaline was out of kilter. These cal-mags had an unpleasant taste.

I see the mention of osteoporosis on this thread. The difinitive way to handle and/or prevent it is with the use of strontium. I came across a reference to this recently. Blew my mind!

Strontium is atomic # 38, in the same column of the periodic scale as calcium and magnesium but heavier and below than them. (Mg is lighter and above Ca). Being in the same column they react relative to each other in the body but, with strontium being heavier than Mg and Ca, it has the effect of forming a lattice in the bones that binds and holds the Ca.

I have begun taking a little strontium daily to repair a part of my spine that shows a loss of density  (old rugby injury :melodramatic: )

You'd figure Scientology would shift away the failing batshit crazy UFO cult business and leverage their highly popular Xenu brand into a line of consumer products or chain restaurants.

Xenu UFO chewable Vitamins for children,

Teegeeack Volcanic CalMag for Adults,

and maybe

A chain of Volcanic Brink Oven Pizza Restaurants,

Or a

A chain UFO themed donut shops.

I have a question to you guys:

What are your thoughts about calmag. .......Did you like it, hate it or ignore it?

Good thread, Ex_SH. After the purif RD, you could not have paid me to drink that stuff ever again. It is such a relief to see that I was not alone in wanting to puke every time it had to be taken. I also remember the farts :whistling:

cal mag

I actually have find memories of the Cal Mag drink and used the formula some time after leaving the SO.
I suffer with my joints, especially in the ankles and found that if I drank Cal Mag on the evening after having done severe physical stuff, sport etc I had less pain and stiffness in my joints.
I know it didn't taste pleasant but there was something about the smell of it when drinking it freshly made, like a cup of tea, and I almost felt like it was a medicine for me, therfore accepted the weird taste.
In fact I think I'll go a make a cuppa now.
The farts I blame on my dog anyway.

NOTS auditoes and Vitamin B1

oh, and by the way I forgot to mention that I think the chain-smoking NOTS auditors needed extra vitamin B1, as I think smoking does burn a lot of that vitamin apparently

Who was that very tall, round lady that smoked a lot at Saint Hill, a NOTS auditor, and always seems grumpy. (about 40 at the time, dark short hair)
Maybe its cos she couldnt smoke in session

I've taken glucosamine and chondroitin for a long time. It's helpful.

One thing I noticed recently is that changing to a new, better quality mattress helped. We bought a nice pillowtop mattress and even though it's rather soft and not one of the firmer ones, my back's never been better. Oddly enough, my knees are better, too. I smashed them up, kind of, a long time ago and sometimes they're stiff. The new mattress even helped with that. We've had it not quite 3 months now and everything's completely different.

I know I hated that stuff, as it always nearly made me puke, but what was the purpose of that brew supposed to be, except to give one calcium and magnesium? The only guys I've seen who regularly drank it where the NOTS auditors, who were using it to wash down the horrendous amount of vitamin B1 they ate.

Did you like it, hate it or ignore it?

Sold under the name of CALM it is a lemony flavored drink that you drink hot like tea. It is good for muscle aches and for relaxing before bed. As for the stuff they served on the purif, I HATED IT!

I didn't mind the taste so much but didn't feel it noticably did anything for me either. I have tried that CALM that Wolf mentioned, just out of curiousity, and it does taste much better.

Back around 1983/84 when on Boston staff we had some girl come onto Div 6 lines and when getting ready to leave she was acting very crazy and erratic. I don't remember now the things she was saying , but remember it was pretty alarming to the point where I was worried about her walking the 1/2 mile or so she was about to walk to get home. So as it was at the end of the night and I was done anyways I decided to walk her home. But first I got this bright idea and got her a glass of Cal Mag thinking that that would calm her down. We got 5 minutes down the road and then she has this realization that I had tried to kill her by poisening her with the Cal Mag! I thought she was joking at first, but she wasn't at all. I tried convincing her I wasn't trying to poisen her or anything and after maybe 20 mins and some locational assists, had her calmed down some and got her to trust me somewhat. I eventually got her home and stayed with her for a while as I was really worried about her. Hopefully she got the help that she needed.

The only other comment on strontium I ever read was nuclear testing put loads of radioactive strontium in the atmosphere. More data on I presume non radioactive strontium if available would be cool. :)

Re Glucosomine/condroitin this is possibly something that should be taken as a prevention of bone problems.

Was reseached 30+ years ago, and has been widely known only in recent years. Wish I knew it earlier!

I was feeling back pain even sleeping, had damaged my back much earlier.
Discovered these natural substances and handled the problem completely.

Note that not all, or even maybe most back problems will not be handled with these. The facet joints can be, my problem.

More likely to be usefull for hip and knee koints in particular.

L. Ron Hubbard was quite uneducated, dumb, stupid, assumptive, arrogant and offensive regarding his ventures into the world of nutrition. But then, when was he not uneducated, dumb, stupid, assumptive, arrogant and offensive? A being hallucinated into existence by nothing. It (L. Ron Hubbard), a mechanical brainmind patched up from the depths of the psychic darkness through which other brainminds could channel their tombs of useless information (axioms, logics, etc.).

During my purif and association with CalMag, I learned to hold my nose and guzzle the stuff and then drink lots of water afterwards. Or was the lots of water used to down the mega amounts of vitamins and stuff? I dunno.

There was only one guy I knew who could make it so I wouldn't feel like vomiting. And those were the only times that it actually had a positive effect on me.

Otherwise I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

I was introduced to the ready to use dry mix, but it wasn't that good either unless you added lots of lemon...ugh!
