I love Breaking Bad! It's fun guessing where they shot certain scenes from.

The most astounding thing that happened to me like this was when I was living in LA, my girlfriend and I went to the Hawthorne Grill, a little greasy spoon of a place a few blocks from our house in the South Bay area of LA, before going to a movie on a Saturday afternoon.

We get done eating at the Hawthorne Grill, and then drive over to the movie theater and sit down.

The movie was Pulp Fiction, and the first scene was Tim Roth and Amanda Plummer, sitting in a booth, calling each other "hunny bunny" and planning to rob all the patrons in the diner they were in. The booth and the decor, and the scene outside the window of the diner looked very familiar.

Then an outside shot shows what restaurant they were in:
It was the Hawthorne Grill, and they were sitting in what looked like the exact booth we'd just eaten in! :omg:

That's wild, Alanzo! There's a house down the street from us that they used in a James Wood film. Don't remember the name right now. It's surreal to see everyday places you've actually been in films.

Killy, I'm with you. If it was considered "normal" and "expected" that we learned all the base languages, you know what, almost all of us would!

I have 4 langugaes comming downt o me form my parents and grandparents.

My Mum speaks Swedish and Danish, and therefore most of norwegian etc. My Dad speaks Hindi andArabic and two other languages.

They never bothered to speak these with me - ever.

I have a great ear for languages and can get any accent right. I spent my 3rd and 4th year in Hong Kong and spoke Mandarin and Cantonese - as much as any 3/4 year old does. We moved to Melbourne. I never heard it again for thirty years but when I was given phrases to speak on a trip to HK everyone was amazed, oh, you speak like a native - wow, you must know what you are saying!

Nope. Dear Mum and Dad, didn't continue my Chinese either. What a waste.

What a terrible waste of brain space.

I know I could go an take courses etc but I am engaged in 2 post grad studies and will not undertake as major a study as another language in the next few years. How easy would it have been to pick up if M&D had just spoken the other langtugaes at home, or made a chinese friend I could continue to speak with when I was a babe. *sigh*

Don't worry. China will soon own the U.S. We Americans will learn the language of the new owners, so as to obtain a better position at the factory.

Keep shopping at Wal-Mart, comrades. :duh:

Now see, I do vulgar language very well. Behind this Angelic Face, and soft voice lies a Woman who could make a grown Man's ears bleed.

My poor friend. Despite his working on English, and my working on his language (I have not learned the swear words yet, odd for me), I still managed to contradict him, and be contentious.

I am such an American.

I should be ashamed. Poor Guy.

The most important word in 'American' is 'Whatever!'
It's an automatic reboot

yeah...that word didn't fly with my Russian Bear. (Especially if I put my hands on my hips while saying it.)

I removed it from my vocabulary for 4 years.

Wow, he is learning English fast!

(And his language was not as tough as I though.)

Ah, communication. Takes work, but it is worth it!

Thank you Guys for your help.
