DM as a WOG

I recently completed Leah Remini's wonderful book, Troublemaker. In the book, one sees a bit of the personality of David Miscavige.

Leah reveals the events surrounding Tom Cruise's wedding in Italy. According to the book, there were many, many awkward moments caused by the clumsy and heavy-handed attempted manipulations of David Miscavige. It appears as though DM and TC were hoping to create a magnificent and lovely storybook SCIENTOLOGY wedding so the adoring paparazzi would flock to Scientology.

But normal folks don't respond to DavidM or TomC the way Scientologists would, and certainly not the way an SO member would. The wedding was a PR disaster. With a drunken Norman Starkey grabbing Brooke Shields and SO goons hanging around, why wouldn't it be a fun time? BECAUSE STAFF SCIENTOLOGISTS ARE WEIRD IN SOCIAL SETTINGS.

DM and TC were trying to position JayLo and her husband, Mark Antony close to the wedding couple. But JayLo was only there as a fun thing to do with Leah. JayLo wasn't really close to TC or Katie.

DM and TC were using Leah to create a contrived closeness with THE OTHER CELEB COUPLE, JayLo and Mark. JayLo took a pass.

It's apparent to me that DM is way over his head as top Scieno exec and has no idea how to fix his Church. Dave's formative years were as an SO exec, not a junior level manager learning all the posts and working his way up. Was Dave a body router? a reg? a course supervisor? a letter reg? No, no, no. The world outside of Scientology is nothing like the SO. Non-Scientologists aren't all about compliance or flowing power to power. The SO exec personality was invented by LRH and isn't capable of fixing the organization, but very good at punishing. Dave is GREAT AT PUNISHMENT. Dave's only public foray was on Nightline with Ted Koppel. Dave's comments were rehearsed and rehearsed. Like an actor learning his lines.

Dave has NO experience with folks outside of the COS (who are not employed by him). This equates to NO UNDERSTANDING of the non-Scientologist and this explains his complete inability to get new people into Scientology.

Dave's ONE MAJOR SKILL is being able to intimidate SO members by carrying out punishments. That one skill has served him well. It's the same skill set dictators have.

I see DM in a mental cage, falling back on the only skills he has--building orgs and punishing people, hoping someone of substance will acknowledge him.

We can expect to see more stupid decisions and more punishments and more buildings, but not much in the way of expansion.

Lol, did you catch the part where he went fishing and got impatient, wanted to jump in the water and grab the fish? I wish he had jumped in, if he was in my boat and said that I think I'd overboard his little butt Scientology style and tell him he can't get back in till he has a fish in his mouth, what an idiot...

Yeah Dave, golden age of fishing! Quite the technical genius, why didn't mankind think of that brilliant technique thousands of years ago? He couldn't bob for an apple without drowning first the impatient dunce...

Do the math

9th grade education

Temper of a 2 year old

Tendency to physically attack co-workers

He'd be locked up in jail or a padded cell

You can get away with insanity inside a vindictive cult but no so much in the real world...

Keep hiding Dave you wouldn't last a day out here!

Agree with DM being so out of touch with the world, but most narcissists are.

I don't understand why TC wanted to have a wedding in Italy in an Italian castle. Why not use Saint Hill for instance with the faux castle there, along with all the willing slaves who would cater for his every whim and make it their mission or whatever to ensure TC was happy as this somehow meant the planet would be a better place....

So pleased though that the rest of the world got to witness Norman Starkey as a dirty old man...

Actually I think that was in the book going clear not troublemaker...

In troublemaker the thing that stuck out most was Miscavige told leak the reason shelly is gone is subpoenas! Foolish thing to say true or false

For what exactly? Who is trying to subpoena her?

Because that creepy castle in rainy rural England has no charm, no real history and most importantly is run by creepy scientologisits. He could kiss goodbye attracting most of his wedding guests by choosing that location. Sunny, beautiful italian castle with no cult taint, on the other hand was a much more attractive vacay option for celeb guests.

I do agree with the OP and it's an interesting subject. DM literally has NO real world experience with non-scientology society besides a few short years in a Philly neighborhood as a child. It probably is a major factor in why he has failed so miserably attracting new members and PR in general because he has no idea how to interact with normal humans, everything is dictated by CoS bizarre rules and social strata. His entire adolescent and adult life has been in the bubble of Scientology and it has certainly warped his entire perspective and I must say given him the absolute worst taste on earth. He so proves the old saying, money can't buy taste (or intelligence).

Similar to detached execs

Well said.

So what does Dave do now?

He punishes and builds buildings and oversees stuff, like punishment and building new buildings.

About 20 years ago, I noticed a tendency in top level, non-Scieno exec's to build NEW BUILDINGS whether the buildings were needed or not.

What I noticed was performed by people who were narcissistic and didn't really understand what was critical to the organization's survival or expansion or health.

The big guys just wanted flashy new buildings to fulfill a dream image of running a slick and successful business. In many of the cases I was close to, the new buildings were financial disasters.

So Dave, as if on queue, is obsessed on building flashy new buildings. Dave has the money and it matters not that the buildings stand idle.

It's what Dave does and I expect he'll keep on doing it.

Each building is a monumental legacy to the idiotic notion that hoards of people want what Scientology is offering.

I suppose the constructions are being justified as enhancing the dream image of Scientology, like the glitzy posters selling honor, wealth, success, smiles, and really cool uniforms.

Admin "tech" is loaded with policy surrounding the concept of seeing what's there with stats and surveys. It's interesting that Dave is applying the formula of DELUSION.

Yeah, well, Disney could have done a better job with the themed castle at Saint Hill where every room has a, 'theme,' so yeah, I agree with you that an Italian castle has more charm, but suppose my point being that the PR fall out from TC's wedding was huge, which would have been avoided had it been within the confines of Saint Hill. What this shows is that at least TC is aware that scientology PR is dreadful, and didn't want his special day tainted.

Of course DM has had almost zero socialisation outside the cult, but think he would essentially be the same person even if he worked at McDonalds, although probably would have been reported to the police for his violent outbursts by now...

Call me an old reactionary, or conservative with a small 'c', but I'd rather keep 'England's green and pleasant land' the way it is (or was) than allowing the construction of a high-speed rail link through some of the most picturesque areas of the country that will shave only a few minutes of the journey time from north to south and back for those breadheads rich enough to afford it.

Likewise I'm not for pumping millions of gallons of water and chemicals into the ground to extract fossil fuel and pollute large areas of our beautiful country.

But I stood and watched as this grotesque 'castle' and ugly adjoining buildings grew in the grounds of Saint Hill Manor and knew it was all for the best for humanity. Brainwashed? No doubt about it.

A very interesting distinction. He is a wog surrounded by Scientologists and Scientology.

No amount of money is worth that.

I agree, but I'm not lil davy and I have no idea the extent of greed and avarice that is
in his heart and mind, the telling so called cognition of "power is assumed" is telling.

It's rapacious like any petty dictator. power grab, entitlement.

If you can grab it hold onto it, then it's rightfully yours ? That amoral little jewel
has justified some of the worst crimes in history, from stealing another man's wife
to seizing property, you name it.

It's simple brutality whether its white collar crime or blue collar. a thug is a thug even if
he's wearing 5000$ suit and 1500$ shoes and priests collar
