Escaped out of Scientology in 2000

Thanks Paul....and thanks, Alonzo! :dance3:

If you've followed my story at all, you know I spent years watching my own
auditor, Bill Yaude, run a volunteer group whose intention was to distract
ANY and ALL posts off of the actual post, onto ANYTHING else. Yes, he was on newsgroups, as well as ARS, and other chat groups--so it's not like I didn't watch it happen.

Those experiences hound me, to this day, so when it happens, consistently, I have to ask.

I know what you mean, believe me.

Glad to hear it's "all in fun" :happydance:

Hang in there with me--I'll get the drift soon, and as I said, soon I'll not have the time, anyways. I'm still learning this web site, so thanks for the info re numbers, too.

My best,
Tory/Magoo~~

What do you think about escaping out of Scientology or my story?
How long were you "in" Scientology and what got you to leave? You've no doubt posted this, but *I* missed it, and would like the short version, if you please.

I think one of the best things about this board is that although we are discussing serious and emotional matters, there is so often humour injected into threads. It can take some getting used to!

When I started here I didn't know what Alanzo was on about either, (and wait until Tanstaffl gets going too, he always make me laugh) and now it's a game. Yes sometimes the humour completely derails threads too and there are rare spats ...and sometimes perhaps the Freezone and tech discussion areas can be too intense... but overall it's a completely different place to any other I've found. The whole humour section is for when the going gets tough and it's hilarious.

Alanzo's story is remarkable, it's an ongoing saga I hope he continues soon. :)

Alanzo does it to everyone, Tory. It's his thing. He does post useful stuff too, so we tend to overlook the occasional aberration from him. :)

Personally, I think Alanzo's Bridge to Total Status is a work of genius! :happydance:

It may not appeal to everyone's taste but I think it can be cathartic and part of the healing process from the "deadly serious activity" most of us were involved with.

This is a serious response and belongs on the Serious Thread.

Yes, but he does go on so about it, doesn't he?

Yeah well you have 2,822 posts unlike us lowly plebs huffing away down here...

All that means is that I'm closer to achieving the condition of FOS than you are! :happydance: :D

BTW, I hope someone is noting and recording my greatest posts (I grant you it's less than 90% of my total output) to record in my official biography.
Future generations will thank you.

The magnificent Tans has said it in grand manner...and Alanzo, the great post master has a heart of gold despite his in-and-out burger posting strategies.

Welcome magoo......I got out in 85. SO. Congratulations on your escape. Jesse was a grand buddy of mine back in the SO. You were in good hands I am certain.

I have been away from ESMB for a month of mall shopping and coffee drinking bliss. I am a downstat, I know, having not posted since before Christmas...but forgiveness is at hand, I am certain. Those who post here are a wonderful lot.

I look forward to hearing more of your story.

Anytime you would like to read my gibberish, you can look it up under my threads.

Thanks Free to Shine! Wow--you're Patron Meritorious? Are you serious,
or is that a joke here? If you're serious--I hope you get your $$ back. I got
my IAS money back ..it took some doing, and Pre-Paid legal attorneys, but I not only got IAS but also my BC money from ASHO. (Once I saw how the "Golden Age of Tech" Crap went down, I knew I'd never get to do that course, even though it was a goal, since 1969.)

When I asked for it back, I literally cried,
and told ASHO--of all my experiences in Scientology, my happiest ones were
with them. They were! My first course, HSDC (Dianetics then) and of course the Communications course, which I still think is a good course. Oh well--life rolls on.

Thanks Alanzo--Please do have a cream soda on me :)

PG: thanks, too. I've heard of SKYPE quite a bit, but am not sure what all
I need for these conferences. Can you tell me?

Namaste---thank you for your very kind words. Even though I've been
around for awhile, it's always nice to be greeted when you join a new
group--so I appreciate each of you responding to my first post.

And once again, I *love* these emoticons! :happydance:  :hysterical:

Here's my whole gang :) :woohoo:

My best,
Tory/Magoo~~

Magoo, do you have a write-up on how to get one's money back from the IAS? I got all of my accounts monies back, but I also donated a lot to the IAS.

Colleen---

Ok, here the deal re IAS: Alot in life, and certainly Scientology, has to do
with timing. I left in 2000, and almost immediately asked for my IAS money back,
as I realized they'd lied to me.

I wrote to them, told them I KNEW they hadn't done what they'd promised,
re IAS___And *I* wanted my money back!

They sent me a check, and that was it. Soon after, a bunch of people asked for theirs back, too, and got it. Then, from what I've heard, they've clammed up.

So start again---keep on pushing.

Also, for ASHO, I joined Pre-Paid Legal (as they declared me SP without ever having ANY Comm-Ev, or anything--they just did it, and told me, 'You're only terminal is the Int Justice chief. I'd written, called, etc to him for 6 months, never heard *A* word. So I joined Pre_paid Legal, and asked them to write a letter for my money that was on account).

The next day OSA called to tell me, "We have your check".

T A DA :)

Hope that helps.

I'm a little initially stunned by the strength of your life force. In a good way. I had been told that the IAS is structured in a way that makes them hard to send a letter to. They were lying to us about Germany and I gave them money. When I paid for my auditor's course I was told I had to give $3000 to the IAS.

Well, I am keeping it brief---believe me, the story is a LOT longer,
and took WAY more energy than it sounds there.

The IAS thing I will say was pretty easy, and it was due to timing (they were
giving people back money at the time).

ASHO____That took months and months of refused communications, letters saying they weren't sure who I was, etc. It was insane...which is why I finally joined Pre-Paid legal. Even then, I spent days educating the attorney on
$ spent and $ on account. Then she wrote the letter, the next day OSA called telling me "Once u sign the waiver, we'll get u the money". These were people I'd worked with, for years!

Ok, so I said, "Fax me the waiver". They did--it was some insane waiver, basically cutting me off from EVER speaking out, blah blah blah. I called my attorney, who said, "Well, you always have to sign a waiver when u get $ back". I said, "you've never seen a waiver like this, trust me!"

She said fax it over, and I did. NOT 3 minutes later she called me furious.
She told me to call them and tell them not only wasn't I going to sign that,
it was an illegal waiver!

So WE drew up what I would agree to.

THIS IS HOW SLEAZY THEY WERE:
We're to meet at a local restaurant. I bring a friend, as a body guard/witness.
This is Pam Shannon, who I'd worked with, for years.
I sit down, and their attorney hands me a waiver---the EXACT one that
My attorney had said was illegal, and I said I would NOT sign.

I told her so. She then said, "Well, we thought you'd say that" and then
pulled out the real one, from under it.

WHAT CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPS.

Yeah--I've fought hard with them, inside, outside, and in court.
I know their routines, and they don't scare me AT ALL.

They're a bunch of loser, floor mats who have long ago lost why they
ever joined Scientology.

I wish you well. I say: GET YOUR $$$ BACK. If they won't, tell them you're going to the media. AND DO IT. :omg:

Best,

Tory/Magoo~~~

PS: Don't be intimidated by their titles. They're just people who have
lied, and lied, and ripped people like you off. Just use COMMON SENSE.

Would the media back up you, or them? 100% YOU. So get on it, and
GOOD LUCK
