Mike Rinder: Ireland — Miscavige’s Lies Just Won’t Go Away

If you have difficulty reading this, one of our Irish correspondents was so kind as to retype it:

The Scientologists in Dublin got a strong pat on the back earlier this year when the leader of the worldwide cult singled the Irish mission out for particular praise. However, all is not well this side of the Atlantic and the sheriff looked to be heading to Middle Abbey Street at one stage.

Speaking in a New Year’s message to Scientologists at a large conference in Florida, David Miscavige said that the Irish mission was carrying out excellent work. He listed the services provided at the Scientologists’ HQ on Dublin’s Middle Abbey Street, such as ‘Life Improvement’ and ‘Personal Efficiency’. A video clip of an interview with a Scientologist on the Ocean FM radio station in Sligo was also shown in Florida, although the station management subsequently issued a statement on their website stating that the station shown was not theirs and that the ‘presenter’ shown conducting the interview ‘is not known to anyone at Ocean’.

Miscavige attributed quite remarkable achievements to the Dublin operation, claiming that the mission had ‘accomplished an 85% drop in drug-related crime’ before quoting an unnamed county councillor who apparently said: ‘You set a shining example. You have effective solutions and are dedicated to improving the lives of others.’

Maybe the directors of the Dublin mission – who include Gerard and Siobhan Ryan – have been paying too much attention to improving the lives of others and overlooked some pressing matters. Last month, an execution order was issued to the Dublin City Sheriff by the Circuit Court on foot of a judgment awarded to the landlords of 64 Middle Abbey Street – DMZ Properties Ltd. The judgment was obtained in default of any appearance from the cash-strapped Church of Scientology Dublin Mission Ltd (CSDM) and was for just under €12,000. The execution order means the sheriff could seize goods and equipment from the offices to the value of €12,000, although this setback looks unlikely to get a mention in Miscavige’s next motivational speech to the faithful. The good news is that the Scientologists told Goldhawk that the matter has just been ‘amicably resolved’.

The last accounts for CSDM only cover the year to April 2010 and show accumulated losses of €690,000. Someone who may be interested in the judgment will be Kevin Stevenson, who is currently suing the Scientologists here for €100,000, alleging fraud, misrepresentation, undue influence and infliction of emotional suffering.

This is the best laugh of the day (so far, there are so many these days).

A model for the 'church' all right, liars and cheats that they are. Their losses are a figment, intended to save all their cash for Head Office. Not that I imagine the Dublin Mission is rolling. IANAL but it seems to me that Kevin needs to get his foot in the door before they disappear entirely.

This is a perfect example of the ungratefulness of the WOG world.

After
Scientology had reduced drug related crimes by 85% in Dublin,

some SP's have evicted them

merely for non-payment of rent.

Scientology Dublin plans to handle this attack

with an 85%
increase

of Scientology-related crimes.
