I think that Facebook is a great way for people to get in touch and stay in touch.
But, I also think that it is a great way for others (especially, for example a vindictive and abusive cult) to gather info on those they want to keep tabs on. I don’t want to put anyone off, but I think that it is sensible to think very carefully about what info you make available and to whom.

Fuckem, because we shouldn´t be afraid of the cult and let them control how we live our lives.
Rather aware of how they work and that it is very easy to see networks of people on Facebook.

My sentiments exactly, GT. I'm paying it forward for every time a "bigger SP" came onto the scene, and gave me some relief from the fair-gaming I was getting. The more people who do this -- well, you know how a flock of gnats can drive you bananas?

I am on facebook too. I still don't know what I'm doing. I accepted a friend of a friend as my friend and now I spend all my time weeding her damn garden. And I still can't remember her from high school. They don't give you enough fertilizer to fertilize a plantation either.
I really need some neighbors as my miniscule little garden needs weeding and I keep forgetting to harvest my damn crops.
I am now wondering what the hell I got myself into.

I heard that Twitter accounts got hacked repeatedly.
So what makes you think that facebook is bulletproof?
I think there are too many personal details gathered (IM, mail, chat, youtube, what do I know...) which could cause trouble.
The other thing which bothers me is that it is extremely addictive, thus time consuming.
If I would be in my eighties and retired, well, I might think differently.
But would probably still prefer some workout in the gym to start with and get myself some real fun afterwards.

Secure in what way? unless someone somehow gets a hold of your password I think its secure enough. Altough the point with FB is to connect with people and yes anyone can see who you are friends with.
There are alot of privacy setting to fiddle around with though so you can have personal info restricted.

I don't think you have to fill out every blank on the form. What if you don't even have chat? They can't make you fill it out if you don't have it.
