Excerpts:
This time, the plaintiffs are Ricky and Jana Martin and their son Wes, who live in Texas. According to the complaint, on July 23, 2014, the Martins were looking for a rehab facility for Wes, and they talked to Dan Carmichael of Narconon Fresh Start.
Carmichael told them that the facility in Nevada, Rainbow Canyon Retreat, had a 76 percent success rate, that the program’s sauna-based ‘detoxification’ program was based on scientific principles, that it was a secular program featuring licensed medical professionals.
As so many others have before them, the Martins eventually learned that all of that was deceptive. The Narconon program is Scientology training, not drug counseling, and the staff is made up of recent graduates, not medical professionals.
