Hello all, I have visited this site a few times over the years and felt it was finally time to join. I spent a couple of hours looking up names of people from my childhood today. My parents got into Scientology a year before they had me, and I was born at home in a silent birth. I grew up in NYC and moved to L.A. as a teenager. I also lived in Clearwater for a few months. My parents were not in the SO, but my sister was, and I was while I was at Flag with my mom. My parents and brother are Scientologists, my sisters and I are not. Hence the username. I look forward to getting to know you. Thanks!

Do you have any issues with your parents in regards to Scientology?

Has Scientology negatively affected your life?

Thank you for your welcomes! I don't have any serious issues with my parents. I know they were disappointed I didn't become a Scientologist, but they haven't disconnected from me. We aren't in the greatest of comm, but we do stay in touch on Facebook.

Sorry, I'm on a tablet and can't scroll up to see the replies. I don't think growing up in Scientology has scarred me, but it wasn't an ideal childhood. It wasn't as awful as some had, though. Possibly because my parents were not SO. I'm guessing their hippie drug use prevented that.

WELCOME Wog_Girl!! Happy to have you here and very happy you never got trapped.

Who would have thought that Hippie drug use saved your life! :duh: :happydance:

welcome wog_girl I am glad you are NOT in scientology. Do you see yourself and sisters as having more freedom to choose than your parents or brother?

I am curious if your brother or parents have had problems/challenges with money, time, or staying connected with friends who disagreed with them and if they talked openly about such things.

Thank you! I do feel that my sisters and I have more freedom. We have homes and families and "normal" lives. I remember being fairly poor. Being evicted from apartments. Moving a lot. I don't think my mom had a job other than being on staff, and you know how well that pays. My dad had a good wog job, but raising a family of 6 in NYC ain't cheap. Especially when you are also paying for training. For how long they have been in Scientology, and how much money they've spent, you would think they would be further up the bridge. Either that or become discouraged.

I don't recall them discussing cutting comm with specific people who speak against Scientology. They warned that they would have to disconnect from me if I went forward with my lawsuit against my former employers, who were Scientologists. Even though I was a new mom and they knew how slimy the company was. They were prepared to choose them over their own daughter and grandchild, for doing something I had a perfect legal right to do. Even though I stuck to my guns and they ended up settling before it went to court, I was never declared. I went through being deposed, but when it was their turn, they pussied out. Ha!

I appreciate you telling this WG. There is a scientology written policy that scios won't take other scios to court. I am sure it is written to prevent public scrutiny and possible bad PR. scientology hates being investigated and exposed especially as hubbard did as he didn't like to lose his human trafficking, money laundering, enslavement business. Glad you stood up for your rights and put justice ahead of bullcrap fraudulent promised spiritual freedom which sadly was most likely the controlling BELIEF your parents were miss-thinking with.

It is another good example of how scientologists are led to operate outside the justice system and harm others while they incorrectly think they are helping.

Hope your parents and brother get out of the prison of belief soon.

Hi Wog-girl and :welcome:

I know you have been reading for some time but just wanted to say straight out that some people have been identified for what they have revealed here and you have already given us some info that could possibly used to id you and cause trouble for you and your family :coolwink:

Other than that, looking forward to more of your story and generally joining in the

Yes, it was explained to me by my parents, sister (who was still a Scientologist at the time), and friend that I was potentially bringing bad PR to the church. It hurt and saddened me that they knew the company was doing illegal "out-ethics" things, yet still sided with them.
I am aware that I've already said enough to be identified at least by my family, if not others who know or knew me. I've always been one to keep a lot of my past to myself, but oh, well.

Welcome, wog_girl, long may you run...(Neil Young).

That just happens to be one of my favorite songs running through my head so I threw it in there...it has no other significance than that.

Hi, wog_girl.

Welcome to ESMB.

Yes, you've certainly provided enough info to identify yourself, which could lead to disconnection. (A lot of people who think it would never happen to them have been surprised to become a disconnection target/victim.)

HOWEVER, and you might not know this yet, you have 24 hours to edit your posts (above).

And please don't feel compelled to answer any direct questions posed here.

Frankly, such direct interrogation of newbies isn't typical here on ESMB. Ahem!
