NEWSFLASH! EXCITING NEWS!

There is monumental news regarding this year's OT Summit. You've heard mention of an epic event coming in a new tomorrow. Well the time has now arrived.

At this year's Maiden Voyage celebration, we are convening a special one-time-only OT Summit, co-hosted by the Freewinds and the Flag Land Base, to be held in Clearwater, Florida.

This will be a spectacular week of events, the largest gathering of OTs on this planet and the most historic event in our history - marking a time from that point forward when nothing will be the same!

The scope of the news and announcements are simply TOO BIG - so we want everyone to attend!

We will also be opening the Freewinds Academy at the Fort Harrison for delivery of all the Freewinds-only courses. The Grand Opening of the Freewinds Academy is on June 20th, and goes throughout the week of the OT Summit until July 6th. The first of the MV events is on the 29th of June and goes until July 4th. These will be the most epic events in Scientology!

We want you to take advantage of this special opportunity to do the Freewinds-only courses at Flag, so please answer the following questions:

1. Which OT Hatting or Congress course are you going to do?
2. When are you arriving to Flag to start?

Let us know back right away, because we want to assist you in making your reservation for your room and course today!

ML,

Michael Sander

As Tory said later on in the thread, they are probably going to dump the ship because they can't afford it.

I have yet to here of anyone returning from the Freewinds and stating that it was empty.

Some people have reported that the OT course rooms at Flag are empty bar a few people (confirmed to me by a personal associate and former staff member at Flag). It is possible that most of the training at Flag is Outer Org Trainees. An edition of Source I have from late 2005 gives a very high number of completions for Pro TR's and False Purpose Rundown (Highest for Training & Auditing).

What I think is happening is that the course is being moved to Flag on land to boost the number of local Scientologists getting 'debugged' to then encourage them to get through their OT levels and filling the courserooms. I also believe that this will entice foreign visitors to do the same as they are more likely to be at Flag for big events, the 'flag experience' and the tough training than they are the Freewinds.

I assume it is to boost the number of people moving up towards and through OTVII.

It is unlikely the Church will dump the Freewinds. 'N' a membership officer in the UK informed me that the ship was receiving rennovations for the release of OTIX and X. Maybe these courserooms are taking up space for that?

First of all, I would take anything a "membership officer" said with a very liberal grain of salt. They will tell you that it's going to rain polka dotted piglets if it would result in you forking over money.

I assume that you were being told that the ship was getting renovated as a reason that it has been in dry dock for a while. Am I correct?

The truth is that there is no way it is making anywhere near enough money to be afloat.

Regarding the church actually dumping the Freewinds: For the PR benefit, you are probably correct. It would look really bad to Scientologists to have the Church get rid of the "OT ship".

However, it has always been a financial liability for COS. Even when they were actually delivering OT VIII on it. (When was the last time that an actual OT VIII was made, by the way?)

I had a friend who was in the finance office on the ship in the first few years it was launched. She told me what a nightmare it was to have anything to do with the ship's viability.

Her comment?

"Try paying for all the crew and all the fuel and all the uniforms and all the things that have to be repaired and all the other expenses, in an org that delivers one OT Level that only 300 people on the planet are eligibile for, and a few courses."

Hello Lulu,

the ship wasn't dry docked. In the week this membership officer told me this, she informed us that there had been 46 or 49 OTVIII completions (that week). I believe I know several of these completions. I checked the stat and who the completions were and I am sure it had dropped to twelve the following week. I believe it may have then dropped to 8 and those people were pictured with COB for an event.

This membership officer wasn't a bullshiter, though she was not particularly liked by all the public. In the same briefing she informed us that 350-400 people had walked out of an event at Saint Hill (that was about half the audience) and that staff were 'taking names' in order to route people to ethics. The rennovations were only, I assumed for part of the ship in order to accomodate these confidential courses.

Regarding the financial liability of the ship- I can see how it can be a dead weight, even with the cost of Scientology courses. I hope that someone can reproduce some completion stats from highwinds or Kristi updates her site so we can have a closer look.

I believe that these courses are being delivered on land as people who live in Florida or have cycles at Flag can now do these courses without having to leave their wog commitments and travel to the ship. It could be an income thing for Flag and to boom their courserooms.

In 2005 there was a huge push to get as many as people as possible onto OTVII.

I am highly skeptical of that stat. If it is in any way true, it is probably people "retreading" the level.

I have no doubt that everyone who originally did OT VIII was told they had to do it again.

The ship is either sailing and delivering courses or it's getting renovated. It can't be both. (Am I missing something here?)

Personally, I don't believe that COS is cranking out all these OT VIIIs and I don't believe they are renovating the ship for OT IX and X courserooms.

Keep in mind, even though your membership officer may not be a bullshitter, someone could be bullshitting her.

(By the way, since the Asbestos Issue has become public knowledge, I wonder how many public Scientologists refuse to go on the ship?)

OT VIII and beyond what lies ahead of us???

While all evidence points to the fact that no new OT Level will be released by the Church in our lifetimes, for those lucky enough to have "strayed" away from the yoke of that Institution, the bridge needs not dead-end at OT VIII.

Throughout the years, there have been many speculations as to what OT VIII and beyond were about. A number of uninformed individual even started to broadcast, quite erroneously that LRH had never even researched or written those. The same people are also content to tell that the world that the "last technical lecture from LRH dates from 1972", utterly oblivious of the fact that in late 1975, LRH gave a series of 22 lectures on the Flag Only "Special Rundown" (later to be called "New Vitality Rundown" or NVRD, to a group of over 40 Tech People.

In 1977, in broadly released issues LRH announced that at least 15 new Levels were fully researched and merely awaiting final write-up. Also the Class X, XI and XII materials make repeated and specific references to these Rundowns coming from "research on OT VIII-XV".

I have also confirmed from private discussions with a number of individuals, some of which I have known for decades, and whom I consider to be honest and reliable that they even saw the materials themselves.

NEW OT LEVELS VS OLD OT LEVELS

There is no such thing as OLD and NEW OT Levels, except within RTC's feverish mind (and therefore those of its followers). Except for "old OT I" (originally developed in 1966 and found in 1967 by LRH to be a dead-end), there has not been, since 1967 any "OLD OT Levels".

Its core issues written up in 1969, LRH found OT VIII to be "only for a High level Thetan", and the gradient simply too steep for most people, even a Full OT 7 completion. It took nearly a decade for tech to be developed to address those points.

Finally in 1978, LRH triumphantly announced that NOTS was the answer and the prerequisite for OT VIII. NOTS was found to be a far longer rundown than originally expected. Unfortunately over the next few years, RTC and the CSI (Church of Scientology International) re-wrote the bridge solely for "Marketing" and "Income Making Purposes" and not for "technical Reasons". NOTS, became "New OT V". The Solo NOTS Course (NOT an OT level, by any standard), became "New OT VI", and Solo NOTS (essentially the continuation of NOTS auditing, but done Solo, became "New OT VII". This
was done, disregarding the obvious fact that by making "New Levels", the previous ones of the same name automatically became "OLD", in complete contrast to the Issues on technical Degrades. The issues on technical degrades are deemed so important by LRH, that he has ordered them to be at the beginning of every single course in Scientology. There is also no issue whatsoever or even order from LRH advising to market NOTS and Solo NOTS as "New OT V-VII" and to drop the previous line-up. This was a "bright idea" entirely dreamed up by the "New Management". To compound the felony, the entirety of the NOTS materials was purposely NEVER fully released by the Church to its own auditors or Public!

The original issues of NOTS date from 1978-9. Additions were made in 1982, more in 1984. In 1991, several dozens pages of actual original LRH NOTS and LRH Solo NOTS materials was released as "New NOTS Rundowns". Faithful to its insatiable greed, the Church promptly found new names to market them such as "The Held-Down Seven Rundown", or the NOTS Stability Rundowns". Had the Church been more honest, they would have called them "The previously withheld NOTS rundowns". In the same vein in 1996 and 1998 "Newly found" (or rather withheld" materials) were announced, as a method of generating interest in an ever increasing bored public. Scores of "Newly found LRH Tech" still awaits Flag public and their eventually release is planned over the next several decades.

Why would someone do such a thing? More crass than the mere Evil Intent to Harm others because of some fancied threat, (the true genus of the Suppressive), Money and Greed are the actual motives. By releasing the entirety of NOTS and OT VIII, Flag is in great Danger of forever loosing its public, because they have no Intention of releasing OT IX anytime soon. The publicly admitted goal of the Church is that when every Organization (as of the 1990s) is the size of "Old St-Hill", OT IX will be released. Considering that the average Organization has substantially lower statistics than a decade ago and that some have even permanently closed their doors, that goal is in no danger of being attained in the foreseeable future. By keeping a trickle of LRH Tech coming in, the Church feels it can maintain its rein over all of its public. Better yet, by releasing "New Vital Tech" the Church can even justify recycling its OT VIII public through a second run of NOTS and then OT VIII (a cycle they may feel justified in repeating over and over if the number of its public continues at its current stagnant level). Add an infinite variation of Sec-Checks and False Purpose Rundowns done to address any fancied wrongs the individual may have ever committed this lifetime, and you now obtain a bottomless Technical Estimate, capable of bankrupting even the wealthiest of its public. As an added bonus, the latest tech Individual to have fallen out of favor will become the perfect scapegoat for having been "discovered to have withheld those materials", when new materials are to be released.

THE TRUTH ABOUT OT VIII

OT VIII was originally written up in 1969. Around 1983, LRH wrote the final piece of that Rundown, a final step intended to polish up and stabilize the results.

Either deliberately, or perhaps, more accurately, as a direct result of the unawareness brought about by the burden of heavy overts, the individuals responsible for compiling OT VIII, for its 1989 release aboard the Freewinds, entirely disregarded the original OT VIII materials and merely released the "final piece" as if it were the entire Rundown. The rest is History. In spite of the carefully controlled hype, the original release of OT VIII went like a lead balloon. Within just three months, well over 10% of its original public completions were dropping off like flies either dead or seriously ill, or victim of an accident or a crime. Many of the "younger public" were either tepid about the results or per actual session records, simply incapable of running the level with any substance or reality. The actual technical reason is actually not hard to imagine. Beside the fact that they were missing the majority of the rundown, younger public had never done the Original OT VII. The Original OT VII is a beautiful Level that has a lot to do with the ability to project one's Intention across. OT VIII was originally developed assuming everyone would have done OT VII prior to it.

OT VIII

LRH says that OT VIII handles the subject of Amnesia on the Whole Track. By addressing the failure of the thetan to maintain his pan determined Viewpoint and remain unaffected by unpleasant experiences, one can handle the basic reason why a thetan start to go down the effect scale from total Awareness toward oblivion. A Rehabilitation of one's ability to view the Whole Track, and addressing the factors that predisposed one to have a Reactive Mind in the first place are the type of abilities one should expect at this level, aptly called "Truth revealed".

OT IX

OT IX (Orders of Magnitude) was originally forgotten by both RTC and the Church of Spiritual technology in 1982 when legally registering them to their names and erroneously named Character (OT X).
For someone familiar with that level, the Technical reason for it is extremely clear. OT IX (Orders of Magnitude) intensely deals with the Universe of Others. It requires no special knowledge to realize that a
small elitist clique devout on perverting a valuable subject for its selfish gain and that an organization (The Church of Spiritual technology), whose board of Directors is exclusively composed by people
practicing a profession that is dedicated at manipulating the truth to satisfy private interests (lawyers) are incapable of any true awareness of the Universe of Others.

At OT IX one should expect a whole new level of Interaction with others, especially at the OT ability level. Things like telepathy and "reading minds" are closely associated with this level. Contrarily to the lower end of the Bridge, on each of those Upper Levels, the individual is expected to produce "tangible" and measurable results, nor mere subjective gain. After all we are dealing with factual OT abilities here, not merely "feeling better".

Whereas, the lower end of the bridge is almost exclusively dealing with "negative Gain", i.e. getting rid of what is wrong with one self, the Upper OT Levels deal almost exclusively with "Positive Gain", i.e. Gaining Abilities and rehabilitating a being. Dianetics, OT III, NOTS are example of Negative Gains. The Original OT IV-VII, OT IX and beyond are examples of Positive Gain

OT X

OT X, Character, addresses the subject of Postulates. On this Level one confronts why some, in spite of an apparent High level of OT still revel in Evil and why others remain good. OT X is meant to rehabilitate one's fundamental purpose and blow all the reasons one would ever become PTS in the first place. The result is a very fortified thetan with an enormously increased ability to make his own postulates stick. This level explains the reason why "old curses" sometimes work, and provide the ability to blow them.

OT XI

Operating is a true OT Level. This is a Level the Church, who is now effectively under the Control of the US Government, is and should be terrified of. This level deals with Remote Viewing. Remote Viewing is the worst possible commodity for the corrupt individual or Organization. It is not that a decadent Organization is so much terrified at the idea of its secrets being known, but rather its elitist clique goes into a complete frenzy at the thought that its dirty backroom deals, its bribes and its secretly committing the very same acts they routinely expose in others, could become common knowledge.

OT XII

At this Level, one starts to have a new understanding and viewpoint of the Physical Universe and its components: Matter, Energy, Space and Time. New notions about time are part of this level. One of the things discovered on this level is that the flow of Time is not a constant and that time actually is flowing faster today than on the early track. This level revolutionizes most people's understanding about Physics. A whole new concept about the Future opens up.

OT XIII

The Church does not name this Level. Its name is "Knowledge"

OT XIV

The Church does not name this Level. Its name is "Ability"

OT XV

The Church does not name this Level. Its name is "Freedom"

SUMMARY

From all evidences, neither the Church, nor the Government is interested in making people truly OT.

A true OT cannot be fully controlled against his will. He will not become the adverse effect of an individual or a group.

A true OT automatically supports what is good and tries to prevent what is Evil.

A true OT perceives the ulterior motives and hidden agendas of others.

Read the "OT Wins" from Advance magazines from the 1970s and compare them to "OT Wins" in recent Church Publications such as Freewinds or "Source".

The former talks about remotely causing effects, bona-fide miracles, exterior phenomena and actually exercising one's OT skills.

The later merely talks about "Feeling great", "Handling one's difficulties" and "Getting rid of undesirable traits".

In other words, the Church's OT Wins have now degraded themselves to the level of those achievable on Lower grades.

If you don't believe it, pick up a recent copy of the Freewinds magazine and compare it to an early Advance Mag.

I can believe there are roughly 46 completions on OT8 a week.

Over the last 19 years that would be roughly.... 45,000 OT8's.

Sounds about right to me.:pirate:

I have no doubt it is an "income thing" for Flag.

Does the church do anything these days that is not an "income thing"?

It still makes me suspect that 1) the ship is not operating so they have to make the money for these courses a different way or 2) they can't get enough public to go to the ship to do these courses to give the ship any kind of viability at all.

(As i said earlier, one factor may be that the Asbestos Issue is now public knowledge. Which probably would make a lot of people decide to do their vacation cruise somewhere else.)

It's possible the income made from these courses at Flag will go on FSSO's GI rather than Flag's GI, as a possible "solution" to the ship's low income.

In 2005 there was a huge push to get as many as people as possible onto OTVII.

I have no doubt. Since DM put everyone back to the bottom of the grade chart with his GAT, there probably haven't been any OT VIIIs to speak of in years except for redos.

Like I said, the ship was never a viable endeavor. It was an Int Management vanity project, essentially. It was a romantic idea to have the upper OT Levels delivered on a ship.

A ship is a freakin' expensive operation to run. It costs a lot of money to support an org, even on Sea Org slave wages. Food, electricity, building expenses, promo, postage, phones, etc. etc. It costs multiple times that to support an org floating on the water, especially when every aspect of it is supposed to be perfect. No leaving a broken door broken or a worn carpet worn (which is what generally happens in most orgs). If it isn't exactly like it's supposed to be, it has to be replaced. That gets very expensive.

Management was never realistic about the actual number of people there actually were that could potentially do these upper OT Levels, as we have discussed on other threads on this board. They based financing the ship on the illusion that there would be thousands and thousands of people going onto OT VIII.

There is some sort of fixed idea that Int Management clings to that there are 50,000 or 100,000 Clears and 8 million Scientologists or whatever ridiculous number is out there. They look at these bogus mailing lists and org central file numbers and actually believe that all of these numbers are real individual unique identities who are reachable who are actual Scientologists.

So, the orgs get beat on as to why they are not getting these 100,000 Clears in and onto their OT Levels. Truth is, the number of Clears on org mailing lists who haven't gone OT are more like 7,000, and even a percentage of that list is totally bogus. Bad addresses, duplicate names, wrong information. Not to mention the number of people on it who haven't done Scientolgy in years and have no interest in returning.

Not surprising that there is a problem keeping the White Elephant afloat.

OT8 to be moved onto land? Incredible.

I was told that it had to be done at sea, because it was too dangerous on land (all that lightning and other strange phenomena). So, if OT8 is now safe to do on land in the vicinity of lots of other people, has it been "dumbed down" or did it never really live up to its claims?

Hi Lulu,

I agree with a lot of what you state. Maybe I have missed something. Is the boat being docked for a period of time? Maybe the revamp for OTIX and X is a front for removing poor interior/asbestos etc etc or a cheap way of doing both at once. Regarding financial viability- I believe Scientology in the UK operates at a loss (outgoings against income).

Central Files is a very poorly handled area. In my Org, know one really spent time until I was declared (when someone was hired for London Day) handling that area. London had one of the biggest central files in the world. I was informed that the several thousand files we had in the Org were only a fraction of the files as the rest were down in East Grinstead in storage (same with PC folders). All of these files were being revamped (including PC folders) for the opening of the Ideal Org. A warehouse had been purchsed by a wealthy public and loads of volunteers were recruited to handle this project down in Forest Row.

The duplicates, the ask offs, the returned mail were not handled with speed. London was also shifiting as many as 400 copies of Dianetics a week and very few of those addresses were making it into central files in a good time frame. My own file had none of the receipts for my services! This area was a great area of financial and time loss. Every staff member had a letter quota and some of the letters in the files did not communicate to people at all and many people received letters in short succession. My own handwriting was not too great so I am not entirely innocent. I did feel like banging my head on the wall when I seen how hideous this section was. The guy they recruited seemed to want to clean it up and was horrified at some of the letters that staff had written to Div6 public.

My Org had hundreds if not a couple of thousand public who considered themselves Scientologists. The majority barely came near the Org except on a few occasions. A small handfull were on courses and auditing. The rest would come to events or buy the occasional book. Who wants to spend the best part of their free time having people trying to continuously recruit them, sell them revamped editions of books and lectures they already have, sign them up for more services, get a higher membership, sign them up for more events with more membership officers guiding the door.

Too many fanatics. The remaining public are often converted into staff quite quickly making the ratio of staff to public very abberated. When the non fanatical and dissafected leave staff, they become just another phone number on the call-in list.

I have never been to the Freewinds, though Mr Bad posted a story at OCMB regarding the routing form. My worst nightmare!

I never really progressed up the bridge, I was too busy being downtrodden as a staff member.

I don't remember who told me that, but that was the rationale for it being only available on the ship. It was simply too dangerous to do on land, paritcularly in the vicinity of non-OT people. I therefore guess that all staff would have had to be OT7 as least?

Put it down to marketing hype. I have no further accurate data.

I do have to ask: Per the contents of Terril Park's post above, is there any OT out there who truly experienced some of the earlier type wins as written up the Advance! magazines? It seems to me that the goal posts are always being moved further up the "bridge".

I think it's safe to assume that what you were told is a total crock of shit. :)

When I first got in I expected to see that OTs had halos or something. :duh:

I believe there were some issues about doing OTIII on the old ship near the Canaries (in the very early days), based on the contact assist principle. Others will be able to expand on that.

Personally, I don't believe they are renovating the ship for OT IX and X at this point. They haven't even finished the Superpower building, for heavens sake.

And I think it's way too late to worry about removing the asbestos. They would have to tear the whole ship apart, redo the insulation and re-renovate it. I can't see that happening any time in the near future.

People everywhere experience all sorts of things at different times from all sorts of stuff.

The operative word for the idea of a hubbo OT, is to produce a being who truly stably / consistently demonstrates some of the earlier hype wins as written up in advance magazines. And I have noticed Ron "blew" or should I say, went off lines, from his own org at one time.

There is a bridge consisting of levels through OT 43 being sold in Capt. Bills Ron's orgs and now Pierre Ethier is talking about new OT 8plus? Seems to me we we're going to need a new numbering scheme!:) How’s about LRH 1~8, CB 1~43 and PE 1-8Plus?

Seems like another case where perhaps the cash flow in the freezone could use a little boost? Maybe the CoS could donate the Freewinds to the Freezone?

I think Independents own their own boats!:)
