The lack of compassion and empathy is stunning.

The seeming inability of Carole to perceive her own lack of compassion and empathy in the letter is even more stunning.

How screwed up does someone have to be, to place the welfare of a woman and her child below the interests of a corporate structure.
It's beyond redemption to place the welfare of a friend and her daughter below the interests of any organisation.

To Carole: When you look at OT's and Clears and aspire to be what they are (and exactly what are they really?) is it really worth betraying your humanity for that?
You are a disgrace as a woman.

</rant>

Good luck Cathy in getting your refund as fast and painless as possible and good for you for making this public.

Wow, you've never heard of excommunication?

Pull your head out of your ass, man!

From earlier discussions I gather that's a "disconnection" from
God or going to heaven, but not an order saying other catholics
from communicate with you.

Maybe a catholic or two can expound on this.

No, but Amish do practice "shunning" and there is a tradition among the ultra orthodox Jews and Moslems to disassociate from errant children.

This is not offered as an excuse. It's all terribly wrong and CofS is one of the worst and nastiest churches/cults around. But it would not be true that there aren't any churches or religions besides CofS that practice disconnection.

Either way, though, it's wrong.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Excommunication

Excommunication is a religious censure used to deprive, suspend or limit membership in a religious community. The word means putting [someone] out of communion. In some religions, excommunication includes spiritual condemnation of the member or group. Excommunication may involve banishment, shunning, and shaming, depending on the religion, the offense that caused excommunication, or the rules or norms of the religious community.

It's an interesting topic of study and I have to admit my ignorance as it pertains to other religions. I know that Jehovah's Witnesses have a 1 year rule about not being able to speak with an apostate. Hey, at least they have a limit.

I wonder, though, how far these other religions go as a matter of written policy. Do they have anything akin to "Fair Game", "SP (almost the devil incarnate), etc. where they have members being prompted to harass and humiliate.

How far does this go in other religions?

Scary that anyone would be hacking into someone else's FB account. Truly.

Well Fluff, it wasn't technically a hack. Steve is her husband but, apparently, he's just along for the ride and incapable of deciding for himself who his friends should be. The main reason that she went in and deleted my friend from her husband's FB account was so she wouldn't have to admit to the MAA that Cathy was on any of their FB accounts. What a bunch of cowards!

Funny that you posted this, ma, I was just coming on to see if anyone was talking about it.

I think that someone should let Carole (and the MAA) know that she's created a huge flap, what with all of these wogs thinking she (and scientology) is crazy. She should have to spend weeks in ethics. The finest punishment for her I can think of.

I still find the level of obsequiousness to the Cult displayed by Carole and the other dupes shocking.

I’ll be among the first to acknowledge the dumbing down of America.

Thousands upon thousands of hours in front of the television and years of a K-12 (and baccalaureate) education system where rigorous instruction and a drive for excellence in math, science, and literature have been eschewed in favor of a socialistic political correctness have rendered countless millions of Americans intellectually impotent.

They are no more likely to identify Australia correctly on a globe than to convey the Queen’s English with (what used to be) a ninth grader’s level of competence.

Yet despite our vapidity, we are a people proactive against unwanted sales pitches- our doors are adorned with “No Solicitors” decals, and our phone lines are protected by inclusion in the federal “Do Not Call” Registry, which was quickly passed by Congress some years ago after viewing our white hot outrage at receiving telemarketing calls.

We use the word “scam” freely to describe any product or service which we don’t find is an equitable bargain, and we remain vigilant against such unprofitable transactions.

And yet we have Carole, and a few thousand others like her, who have not only allowed the Church of Scientology free access through their “Do Not Call” fence but have essentially endorsed over to it both their bank accounts and their bill of rights.

Perhaps what makes this such a vexing conundrum is that what the Church of Scientology has sold (and continues to sell) to Carole is as worthless as unwanted items at a 99¢ Store and as dangerous as a mislabeled can of rat poison.

:unsure:wow, that note is just amazing! I'm just so happy that her intelligence won out and so sad that she participated for so long without seeing the truth. I'm just dumbfounded that the Scio's around me can't see this...astounding..:duh:

Someone else already said this, but I want to say it, too:

I LOVE that thecult nutjobs are posting this kind of crap on Facebook for anyone and everyone to read. Those who want to burn the place down could not have better cooperation from the Kool-aid drinkers inside.

Thank you, you idiotic, stupid, uncomprehending, clueless (need more synonyms!) Co$ cult member.

Thanks for bringing that over from FB Synthia, I was hoping it would make it's way here. :coolwink: I have been blocked on FB by some because I "denigrate their religion" and it really is pathetic.
