Family members of Scientologists are fighting to get their loved ones back, one billboard at a time. A billboard in Los Angeles reads: “To my loved one in Scientology … call me.” Now Scientology leaders are firing back against the allegations.

There are over 9,000 billboards in Los Angeles, but this one stands out. Instead of advertising plastic surgery or DUI attorneys, this display was purchased to reunite families torn apart by Scientology.

Phil and Willie Jones are ex-Scientologists who joined the church in their late teens. They estimate that they gave over $150,000 to the controversial church, but they also gave even more: their children. Their son and daughter, Michael and Emily Jones, are members of the Sea Org – a billion-year commitment according to the religion, requiring 100 hour work weeks and a wage of 10 cents an hour, according to Raw Story.

Let's get a billboard put up in Clearwater! Would it even be possible to find a sign company in or near Clearwater that would host it, do you think? Is there someone in Clearwater with the cojones to handle the 'cycle'?

Los Angeles Times finally "reports" on Stop Scientology Disconnection billboard story

Los Angeles Times finally "reports" on the Stop Scientology Disconnection billboard story.

The Los Angeles Times finally "reports" on the Stop Scientology Disconnection billboard story, albeit pathetically and only because of the breaking story about Ron Miscavige's book.

The Los Angeles Times "story" is:

Parents Use Billboard in Echo Park in Attempt to Reach Out to Children in Scientology.

http://www.latimes.com/books/jacket...en-in-scientology-20160427-embeddedvideo.html

The "story" consists of a now old KTLA 5 video about the billboard, simply captioned "Phil and Willie Jones banded together with other families to launch a very public and visible appeal to their children using a billboard in Echo Park that simply states, 'to my loved one in Scientology ... call me.' Chris Wolfe reports from Echo Park for the KTLA 5 News at 6 on Wednesday, April 6, 2016."

This story also has the tag: "This video is featured in these articles: JACKET COPY Father's memoir spurs Scientology leader David Miscavige to threaten lawsuit."

The linked story --

JACKET COPY Father's memoir spurs Scientology leader David Miscavige to threaten lawsuit

http://www.latimes.com/books/jacket...threatens-lawsuit-scientology-book-story.html

-- simply includes the video and caption. It does NO original reporting.

Maybe this by Tony Ortega helped shame the LA Times into putting the billboard story on their website:

"The Los Angeles Times, meanwhile, had done legendary work exposing Scientology in the 1990s, and even as late as 2005 it did a major piece on David Miscavige and the Int Base. But since then, the newspaper has shown almost no curiosity about the church’s controversies in its own backyard. The L.A. Times has still, for example, not written anything about the Los Angeles billboard about Scientology disconnection that has garnered so much interest by other news organizations around the world. "
