Says the man who has been posting since March 2007!

Again an ESMB Person thats need help.
My socialworker heard does shine.
Socialworker:
"Hello Great Zorg, welcome at our support group.
WE understand your addiction. Will you talk?
The first step to lose the addiction is to see the addiction. (applause from the group incl. the socialworker if you live in North America. In Germany you will get a OHHH or AHHH and a head nod)"
I'm so addicted to ESMB that once I announced that I was making my last post..... and then I came back and kept coming back.
Why is it so hard to leave?
Well, the church, with all its faults, gave us a group.
After leaving Scn, it's unlikely we would ever join up with any other church, but I believe there is still a longing for a group.
ESMB is OUR group!
Face it, we are linked by a common purpose, and it gives some meaning to our lives.
But it's free, communication is open, and it's fun!
That's why we keep coming back.
(That, and insomnia - lol!)
I'm addicted, too!
Here's what this addiction is to me:
It's my *enhancement* after being involved in $cn.
And the idea (I had to give it a thought for a day) of my being here, reading and posting is two-fold:
1. Lack of REAL understandng of Scientology. Something not fully understood is like a glue. Mystery sandwich.
We see here many threads like this one: http://www.forum.exscn.net/showthread.php?t=18802
where exes are STILL trying to figure out what this scam really is.
I'm with them on that one (and got some answers which - when they become ripe - I'll post)
1. is about the Past
2. is about Present and Future.
2. is Educational and educative value of being here. It's about developing *immunity* to any kind of cult. My parents tried to relay that immunity to me but I didn't learn the lessons they gave me... so ended up in S.O.
And -
Along with that being addicted I try to suggest some answers to those who are in question about this or that, 1. or 2. (if I feel it might help).
That's why I've been sitting on ESMB for many hours a day straight. And this IS addiction. But this addiction has Value (unlike being addicted to drugs and alcohol). It's Educational Value (something we've been missing while believing to "one man's vision, one man's dream"). Multiple viewpoints on the same subject are very educative! (VERY opposite to what's in $cn).
The one thing that keeps me here is a longing for more and more news, awaiting the final death throws of Cof$, waiting for a major scandal that will break it TOTALLY open, any absolute confirmation that there was, indeed, CIA interest/infiltration of Cof$, news that Slappy has been arrested, etc.

Man, how do you guys get away from your computers? I find myself so addicted to this message board!
STEP 1. Admission that one is powerless over their addiction.
"OK, I'm powerless over my thread reading and posting at ESMB (smiles and nods from many in the assembled group)."
"So, who cares (assembly of posters, readers, trolls, oas dicks and future blow offs begin to look around and sort of shrug)?"

I think you need a hard way to loose your ESMB addiction.

Back in the '90s I was attending a Christmas in July party and I was told I was not allowed to bring a computer.
So, I complied. I didn't have a computer, I just had a keyboard, and I carried it everywhere like a Teddy Bear for the entire three days just to p** people off!
I am quoting my own post here, because so many others here have. And seeing the above quoted a number of times, "BING!" it hit me ... the similarity of the addiction ... while still IN Scientology ... what kept me going was the promise of that next great revelation, that next big cognition, the next major stable win, the next EP reached, etc. You have to admit, there is a similarity. Whatever it is that keeps people here or in Scientology, it is probably the same thing that keeps people staring at Generally Inhospitable or As The Stomach Turns or As The Mind Rots or One Life To Loose (watching soap operas, that is). And I will admit ... I had a brief bout of soap addiction, for me it was Generally Inhospitable back in the "Luke and Laura" days and something about an "ice princess" wtf that was. That was Spring of 1981 I believe. I don't even recall wtf it was about, only that I was hooked on watching it at one point.
WTF knows, perhaps the Scieno/ex Scieno thing is, a big phuggen real life soap opra, we are all waiting for the next supprise but the director and script writer are taking their time.

But it has been great therapy.
