I don't know that the Indie Dependents and other Scientologists generally are "afraid of facts" per se. In their mind, there are no absolutes and facts are dependent on viewpoint. Its a world where up can mean down and the L Ron Hubbard Law of Commotion can be ignored because of things like "intent" and atomised context. Structural coherence is far too banky a concept worthy of homo novis consideration.

What I think they fear most is the "invalidation" which comes from disagreement. Those of us not locked into the Scientology mind fuck know that where agreement meets disagreement one will find the melting pot of ideas, the arena in which beliefs and facts are put to the test with a view to leaving behind that of which we once were certain. Or finding new evidence to support it. Invalidation is a Scientologist's kryptonite and disagreement the enemy of their reality.

Good points and a great explanation.

Thank you :)

It just keeps getting worse! This is hilarious.

You'd think he would have had another translator there so that he could have heard the accolades spoken twice . . . . but of course, then he wouldn't have looked multilingual and all-important to the masses. But, it appeared that he enjoyed this flattery even more when he was the one saying it about himself. I have never seen anyone promote themselves so shamelessly and with such exaggerated, narcissistic grandeur. It is absolutely comical . . .and I don't think even a Saturday Night Live satirical sketch could make it any funnier.

I would love to be a mind reader at one of those events, and see how many of his adoring subjects are trying to squelch supressive thoughts so they won't "read" at the next sec check. They just can't be brainwashed to this degree. . . . and if they are, I feel bad for them when it's time to run their BPC (By-passed-cringes (TM Helluvahoax)) ;)

Omg, lololol, I thought at first it was a YT glitch/stutter :roflmao: , still never made it past 30 secs, maybe tonight after a few  ...
Yikes! (dunno why but for some reason I flashed on the old Roman tradition of 'Vomitorium' when imagining the audience reaction)

That freeze-frame in the video looks like a promo piece for the TV game show:

Contestants try to win Total Freedom by competing to see who can give COB the most tone 40 obsequiously servile compliments.

WOMAN CONTESTANT
How can we ever put our exchange in to COB?
It wouldn't even be enough thanks if we let him
break into our homes and steal all our possessions
and anally rape us at knifepoint. Would it?

Audience roars with approval.

The Applause-Meter on screen rockets to the right.

COB, taking a cue from the off-stage director,
looks down at at his feet in mock humility,
while actually admiring his 1800 dollar Berluti loafers.

TACKY?

the stage mockups are so garish and grotesque they make ceasar's palace look amish

Still here in Vegas and consider the design philosophy of Ideal orgs and events
must be From the Vegas branch of the " Bauhaus" school of slot machine and
billboard aesthetic.

Yes Ceasars Palace is in comparison classic but old and tired, drive past it every day.

They should consult DM for a rebuild and some creative input on how to more quickly separate the punters and their money.

Perhaps a new aesthetic movement for " Ideal Casino's"?

It's not possible to read their minds.

Because the tech is much more powerful than anyone realized.

When they went Clear and as-ised their reactive mind, there was some minor collateral damage and their analytical mind was erased too.

Maybe he does it with the intention that the OTs will suppress those rancid thoughts thereby commiting a mind crime of the SP kind and therefore conclude that they have to immediately make plans to report for their next 6 month sec check.

All he needs next is to have regges handy for the next week to somehow miss their withholds so that the BTs are keyed in and the OT has a greater urge to buy that airplane ticket now and book the hotel room now.

Circa Feb. 1982, my first night in Stevens Creek Mission, everyone standing and clapping at a picture of LRH on the wall. It was probably the first clue I had that something is not right in Scientology. I had read The Gulag Archipelago a few years previously and [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Solzhenitsyn describes the Central Committee standing and clapping at a portrait of Stalin for forty-five minutes, no one wanting to be the first to stop and be seen as an "enemy". Could end a career and get shipped to the Gulag for that. So I was intrigued by this same silliness in Scientology and wanted to see how long it lasted. When I was in the SO at INCOMM I never saw it go on more than maybe three minutes or so, although it felt like forever sometimes. Anyway, The Gulag Archipelago is a first person account of just how insane humans can go with group think and one of the most depressing books ever written so I knew right from the start from what I saw that Scientology had the same potential for idiocy. How did this clap at the LRH picture get started? Any old-timers know the story?

I'm not going to watch the video with the midget, It would be 2:33 of my life I'd never get back. :)

The story about Stalin was that the first person to stop clapping was later disappeared.

I had to force myself to sit thru this video that Karen#1 has posted for us. I wanted to turn it off, as it is so sickening to watch - but I also felt compelled to sit thru it. Miscavige is such a repulsive little person - pretending that his "translation" was not rehearsed down to the last tiny detail. And the trappings - podiums, columns, medals, uniforms, symbols, etc. Yeucchh.

... and then I remembered why I liked Scientology events. It was because that was the trigger that made me start "looking", and ultimately led to my leaving Scientology.

The first and only event I attended was huge. I went with some Scientology "friends", and I was immediately struck by how tacky the whole thing was and how hypnotized everybody seemed to be, and the clapping - my GOD, the clapping, the endless fucking clapping. I realized right there and then that I wanted no part of this "reality distortion field". This self-congratulatory masturbation was simply a car-crash in slow motion that could not be looked away from. I was absorbing in every little detail, so that I could embed into the core of my being why I wanted absolutely nothing further to do with these people. I can still remember looking around at the glazed eyes of the people around me - and noticing that I was the only one doing so. Everyone else was eyes-front, smiling, and clapping furiously.

I made it thru the event, but started looking for information very soon afterwards. This was at the dawn of the internet, and information was scarce (BBS's etc) but it was out there. I became more and more fascinated with the stories from ex-Scientologists who were blowing the whistle.

Scientologists became disturbing to me from that time on. My perspective on them had totally changed. They were nothing that they claimed to be:

They were not free of MEST - just look at the trappings of Scientology these days. There is no group more obsessed with MEST. (please forgive the use of Scieno-terminology).

They were not free-thinkers. They were closed-minded sheople being herded to the slaughter (at least of their bank accounts).

They were not trustworthy. I was ripped off by several Scientologists, and the Ethics departments did nothing about it because they were upstat OTs.

They could not communicate freely.

All in all, they had nothing that was promised by Scientology. L Ron Hubbard was just an old con-man.

So, THANK YOU Karen#1 for this nice reminder.... and thank god for Scientology Events !!

Yeah, I gotta pretty much agree with you there!

It's funny. I never liked Scientology events, even back in the 1980s, and that was WAY BEFORE they got so horrendously over-the-top glitchy, and gaudy and OVER-PRODUCED to the MAX! Even back then, they seemed so contrived, and the excessive PR and exaggerations were annoying and simply difficult to tolerate. Just the "look" of a modern Scientology event is so TACKY. They are "materialism pushed to an absolute nauseous limit".

And, I am supposed to believe that all of these people with cute little pins and large dangling gold medals are "advanced spiritual beings"? :duh: :duh:

It is amazingly absurd to me. In my involvement with Scientology I NEVER for a moment had ANY desire to get a nice gold medal, and stand up in front of some event audience with people clapping in enthusiastic admiration. Maybe I am "out of it", but such things never did and still don't make ANY sense to me. Not to mention that people actual find "meaning" in doing such things.

I was a Flag Rep at a Class IV org in 1979. It ended up being my job to implement the program for each big event. I remember commenting to my wife, "Isn't this ironic? I am the guy who HATES Scientology events, and here I am having to set them up!" Even with that I would often manage NOT to attend the actual event!

Amen GF.

What does a glitzy show have to do with spiritual freedom? NOTHING!

What does cheering for a simpering dude in a tuxedo (who stats are egregious) have to do with spiritual freedom? NOTHING

The icon of success is the same image that LRH used by having all those meaningless certificates on the wall, "L Ron Hubbard Day" in Blubblah, Kansas.

Who actually buys into that stuff? I'd love to see a survey of attendees at the events asked, "Did you truthfully enjoy the long clapping or the hip, hipping?"

Even when fully brainwashed, I resented it. How could LRH think that it was something that his followers enjoyed?

I can see holding celebratory events because it can be a lot of fun and provides an opportunity to socialize and be entertained. The scieno events just seemed phony, unnecessarily so.

:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

Now all we need is an online comedy show with real freaking funny performers like Saturday Night Live to do that skit.

Might have trademark issues on using "Saturday Night Live" so we can change that...

I miss those where 60% of the audience were the same 5 people:)

I thought about it.

But, really....what's the difference whether Scientology shoops 5 people or 5,000 people or zero people?

There is really only 1 person in the audience anyways.

The Ideal Scientologist. Same ideals. Same ideas. Same same.

Despite the promo, Scientologists are supposed to be the same. That's the purpose of Ethics.
