What's new

I have a new opinion about ESMB

My epiphanies

Could you provide a link the specific Blog site so that others can share your epiphanies?

What comes up from a quick search is something from several months ago where you wrote, "I didn't think I'd see the day when ESMB would out-rabid WWP."

Was that one of the epiphanies, or were there later epiphanies?

Nope, those are not it.

I am sorry Paul but I did not understand anything you said, my computer/internet knowledge is limited, I am still learning...
I will try to figure it out.
Thanks

User CP = User control panel, lets you change some things like your time zone and what information you choose to display about yourself. You will find it on the left hand side of the lower menu bar, towards the left hand edge of the screen, above the posts. One of the things you can change is your "User Title." Currently it defaults to a title that automatically depends on how many posts you have made. Yours says "Patron Meritorious," a joke based on the IAS Status Levels, and shows by default based on the number of posts you have made. You can change that to "Aida Thomas" or "I like burritos" or whatever you want.

My opinion of ESMB has been morphing just like everything else in my life.

When I got onto ESMB in summer of 2007, I felt that ESMB had much to offer in relevant knowledge, links, references and stories. This forum was an important source of information that ultimately led me to leave the CoS in the summer of 2009.

But to me ESMB's value dwindled - both because I caught up with the important information and because I felt the quality of the postings deteriorated. With my latest epiphanies (reflected in my latest blog posts), ESMB has become irrelevant to me.

I will make use of this post to thank the people who have served up actual and factual relevant information. I will mention none as I will undoubtedly leave a few important people out, but you know who you are. I will thank Emma for erecting the forum in the first place.

It is time to move on.

I will hang around for a few hours to read any direct responses, and then I will be gone. C U :happydance:

I totally understand this.

I have to say that with the censorship of peoples' posts and threads who are not spamming and not trolling, I am having some of the same thoughts.

There don't appear to be any startlingly new epiphanies, but thanks for the link anyway.

You've been out of the Church of Scientology for over a year, so you've probably fully epiphanied yourself by now. (Especially since Scandinavians epiphany at a faster rate than regular folks.)

But just in case you have any new epiphanies on the topic of Scientology in the future, please check back and share those with ESMB.

I understand and I agree that ESMB's value has dwindled, particularly for us who left a long time ago. Nevertheless it is great for new people to see what it is truly going on with the Church and this helps them to make a decision and get out.

There are a lot of wonderful postings, information, etc that are invaluable to the history of the fall of Scn. I hope they never take down this board.

Paul, thanks for the improptu hatting...LOL!

As Toad said: In 25 characters, or less, I've always been able to dig myself a pretty deep hole...ROTFWL!

If anything I should change my title to ex-Freezoner...LOL!

You're welcome. But in reality, *are* you a Freezoner, i.e., someone who embraces Scientology and thinks with its writings and audits it outside the CofS? As opposed to someone who, well, doesn't.

Paul

Well, I am for auditing but not for the cult crap or the admin crap; is where most of the brainwash lies in my consideration.

I am not a freezoner...neither independent...I am on my own, like you....I am an auditor; that is my profession and I try to help people with the training that I have to the best of my ability without promising anything or lying to anyone.

I only embrace those aspects of Scn that I agree with and that are true for me, just as I also embrace a lot of other philosophies as well...no, I do not think of Scn, as the only solution, neither it can help all.

Sometimes people think that Emma speaks for ESMB.

I totally understand this.

I have to say that with the censorship of peoples' posts and threads who are not spamming and not trolling, I am having some of the same thoughts.

Heh; I was just waiting for this. As predictable as brown bananas :)

A New Crusade! Yipeee!

But, I haven't seen the censoring of posts. Yes, 'Success Stories' has gone the way of the dodo, but, it was always out of place here, and, yes, in its way, it *was* spam; advertising, not discussion. *Other* people's statements, not even Terril's. Nobody's removed *Terril's* hype or comments; just those he imported as advertising, popular as that has been with some, including far flung elements who otherwise dislike ESMB for the kind of open discussion prevalent here.

Now, I didn't have any problem with them being here, or, at least not many. I got really tired of seeing the eternal turban guy's video filling the pages. I got tired of them being dragged out elsewhere to suggest that external marketing of 'theta posts' was effective in curbing us rabid SPs, but, on the other hand, sometimes there were juicy little success stories worthy of comment, even if the story-writers themselves weren't around to hear the comment.

But; out of place in 'discussion' and misrepresentative of ESMB.

Bye bye.

Now, where was the other censorship Alanzo?

Oh, and some may be a bit hurt that Emma finally 'spoke her mind', but, that was one of the main objectives of giving up management, even if the giving up isn't as all encompassing as first thought. It's *good* for Emma to be able to shoot her mouth off, like the rest of us. Without worrying that she's 'speaking for ESMB'. I'll be glad to see more; she was a valuable contributor *before* she had to be the over-lording bitch and now she can be again.

It's a good thing.

Which is, very simply, that when the owner and leader of the forum makes statements like "Scientologists are fucking stupid" and shuts down the success story thread, what balance there was no longer is, and so I do not belong here anymore.

After all, while I do not blindly buy in to the whole Church of Scientology or "KSW" package, I'm an auditor, I do good things for people by skillfully applying the techniques that I have seen to be valid, I hold my head up and make no apologies to anyone for that. I am open to inspecting any principles of Scientology and judging it for myself, on what I personally find to be their individual merits and workability, and the same goes for the techniques and principles developed and/or practiced by those who made contributions to these techniques and have split off in their own directions, even though I cannot agree when these people now claim that the whole of Scientology is invalid, or when anyone who ever has been a Scientologist in effect pronounces theirselves, me, my wife and friends, and others "fucking stupid" for being or having been a Scientologist. Alan Walters authored the L1C, and I'm sure, other valid pieces of tech, and was a Scientologist up until the Mission Holder Meetings in 1982, ran missions, and got large numbers of people into Scientology. How "fucking stupid" is Alan? A dear friend here on this forum has been vocal in declaring how great being audited by me in a Scientology org was for him, and still is, and yet now jumps onto the bandwagon of Emma's thread, endorsing this talk. Hypocrisy runs rampant here, now that Emma, the owner and leader of this forum, after being upset at a Scientologist, ranted as she has.

I don't want to be misunderstood-Emma and I have privately expressed high levels of mutual affinity and respect, now and in the past, and this doesn't change that, and I've genuinely come to like many people on this forum whose views conflict with mine. But what message would it send for me to, by my presence here, appear to endorse a forum led by a person who states that "Scientologists are fucking stupid", when I value many Scientology techniques so highly, and continue to practice them? At best it is confusing, and at worse it makes me appear dishonest in my convictions about what I practice. And I am not the least bit dishonest about that.

Short of Emma sincerely retracting her words, being in this environment is detrimental to my moving forward in my practice and doing what is important to me.

Furthermore, given this shift in the political environment on ESMB, I think it would require more effort and work than I can justify spending my time on to try to maintain a worthwhile discussion.

I hope everyone here will truly understand that I now take my leave without bad feelings towards anyone here, in fact I really appreciate all who engaged me in thoughtful and sincere conversation, shared interests and opinions, humor and friendliness. May the force be with you!:)

Love to all,
Dex

Please don't take this the wrong way, .....

Srsly, I'd miss you if you left.

The Success stories thread was always open to comment by anyone.

It is what Scientologists do.

It's good for everyone to see that, out on the screen, rather than inside their minds and unable to talk to anyone else, unable to question those success stories, or unable to scream "that's bullshit!".

We could never do that in the Church, and now that thread is no longer here to do that to, either because the board owner could no longer tolerate it.

The freedom of speech is the main thing that makes ESMB a therapeutic place for anyone who used to be connected to Scientology.

Without the freedom of speech for EVERYONE (except blatant trolling and outright spammers), ESMB is like Marty's blog - a place where the blog owner's views are the only ones tolerated.

By the way - "tolerate" is a verb. It is an action, and even a skill that one can get worse at, and better at.

Such a nice post this one http://isene.wordpress.com/2010/11/25/on-enjoying-the-game-immensely/

On enjoying the game. Immensely.

Most religions teach salvation. From sin, from pain, from entrapment, from the game called “life”. Christianity has Heaven, Buddhism has Nirvana. Scientology has “Total Freedom”.

There seem to be a longing after escaping. Life.

In Scientology, we are taught that we are living on a “prison planet”. In Eastern religions one seeks to end the seemingly endless cycle of life and death. The mantra most religions “sell” is this “escape”.

And much of the focus is on “sin”, “transgressions”, “overts” and the rules of conduct to purify oneself.

What happened to the all too simple “enjoying life”?

Rather than the focus on “escape”, I would like to see the selling of “embrace” – of enjoying life to the fullest, enjoying the game. Immensely.

Maybe one can only reach Nirvana by fully embracing and love what is. But to do that, one must truly see what is. And maybe one can most easily reach happiness by being happy.

[...]

Thanks Geir :)

There's nothing to prevent anyone from posting his own Success Story (or stories) here. The Success Stories Thread was in its own way a ghetto for *non-discussion*. *Other* people's 'Success Stories'. Since Terril was publishing *other* people's success stories in bulk, it was a way of keeping down the clutter.

If you'd like to publish a success story, I have no doubt you'll find a way :)
