Independents' Day Celebration 2013... will apparently not be taking place.

Sometimes what is important is not what happens, but what does not happen.

A timeline of Independents' Day celebrations....

Mark Shreffler Goes Indie on Indies Day

2013

The Fundamentalist Independent Scientologists split from Marty, first congregating at iScientology Blog.

Then Marty announced he is no longer a Scientologist or an Independent Scientologist.

Then the Fundamentalist Independent Scientologists split, with some continuing to congregate at iScientology Blog, and others at Milestone Two and the Milestone Two Blog.

Result: No Independent Scientology Independence Day or Independents' Day celebration.

Oh, and Mark Shreffler, who announced his independence on Indie Day in 2012? Now a member of Milestone Two.

Mark's whole life was selling scientology thru his seminar talks to orgs & missions of which he probably got something like 10% for ticket sales. So he had a captive audience.

But now that's he's indie, I assume his captive audience is much much smaller.

Once a person opens his eyes to the internet, well, the faithful kind of go away.

Well, Christie and Mike got married in late June. That was a pre-July 4 gathering -- and folks from several sides were there.

Hey, I'm a big romantic!

I was going to comment to the same effect. Allow me to add the following.

I think the people who most need a group or an Org are, first, the exec and admin people -- the Int and RTC and CMO and ED types. I mean, what the hell else are they going to do Scientology wise? They need an "Org" to have a Scientology Hat.

For example, I know Lana now is an auditor, but my understanding (and correct me if I'm wrong) is while in she learned on an RDD basis while on the RPF, and has since learned it more formally on the outside -- to the extent "formally" exists outside the COS. I'm not attacking her abilities as an Auditor, just saying her credentials may not be competitive.

But, the next group of people who next most need an Org or a group are the FSMs and salesmen types, like Shreffler. I guess they could hustle around trying to get a 10% cut from random and disburse truly independent Auditors, but the latter might get the idea they can do their own marketing and really don't need an FSM. No, a Shreffler really needs an Org or a group. What I can't figure out (I suspect there is a real back-story) is why he left the COS.

Returning to my OP, one can see a real devolution in the series of pictures. From a smiling, happy, up-tone crowd, to an empty fortress, to simple announcements sans pictures to... nothing.

Well, they do now have ten blogs and 12 Facebook groups. :)

I'm not on facebook nor their blogs. So I don't know.

But I don't care, really. As I'm a self announced SP.

How does that fit into hubbard's attributes of SP's.

I'm more cause than them, the scientologists that is.

Not to mention a growing number of online groups that seem to include indies, exes, anon, critics, antis, etc.

I guess they're in the digital phase of their expansion. :)

I'm very glad you mentioned that. From everything I've heard everyone was most civilized, supportive of Christie, Mike and the wedding, and on-purpose.

That is a sign of progress. They may disagree over scripture and doctrine (e.g., KSW), but unlike corporate Scientologists they didn't disconnect to the point of not attending the wedding.

Btw, how many members of the corporate Church of Scientology attended the wedding? :coolwink:

I'm not sure it is truly "expansion" to have more blogs and Facebook pages... for the same or decreasing number of people.

But wait! Maybe they are learning from the corporate Church of Scientology Ideal Org strategy of increasing square footage of building space for a decreasing number of parishioners....

Corporate COS: Increasing square footage of building space for a decreasing number of parishioners.

Independent Scientology: Increasing number of blogs and Facebook pages for the same or decreasing number of people.

The Independent Scientology Ideal Blog and Facebook Group strategy?
