    Don't statutes of limitation apply to criminal offenses? They don't apply to filing a civil lawsuit do they?

    That entirely depends on what state you reside in, doesn't it?

    Best to ask a lawyer/solicitor. Most places I have lived have different "law lines" where you can call and check, free of charge.
