Is The Independent Dianetics Foundation - iDianetics.org - an OSA front?

There is a new supposedly "independent" Dianetics group, The Independent Dianetics Foundation - iDianetics.org.

Website: http://www.idianetics.org/

Twitter: https://twitter.com/iDianetics

Tumblr: http://www.idianetics.tumblr.com/

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/iDianetics

The website proclaims:
Dianetics outside the Church of Scientology

Under "Who We Are" the website states:
Dianetics outside the Church of Scientology

Our Mission

First, let's begin with a clear differentiation. The Independent Dianetics Foundation is not related to, associated with or endorsed by The Church of Scientology, The Hubbard Dianetics Foundation or any other parent or subsidiary corporations of The Church of Scientology, its affiliates, management, organizations or groups.

We are a self-betterment and reform group, using and teaching the spiritually-based mental healing technology of L. Ron Hubbard.

The Independent Dianetics Foundation exists to serve a number of purposes.
Among those purposes are:

• To serve as a proprietor of Dianetics independent of and distinct from The Church of Scientology and its subsidiary Hubbard Dianetics Foundations.

• To support the creation and operation of Dianetics Book Auditors.

• To act as a dissemination channel for those interested in pursuing the study and practice of Dianetics and Scientology independent of Church corporate organizations.
However, questions have been raised about whether The Independent Dianetics Foundation is an OSA front group created to collect names, mailing lists and other intel.

One thing that is suspicious is that there are no individual names associated with The Independent Dianetics Foundation. Scientology is a small community. Most Independent Scientologists, Freezoners, etc. are known to somebody. Leaders, or at least people one would expect to lead an organization such as The Independent Dianetics Foundation, are well known. Such knowledge is quite frankly used for marketing purposes and to build trust. Individual names are an asset. Thus, a purported "independent" site that is not associated with any individuals or identifiable persons is highly suspicious. The lack of any real, identifiable person associated with The Independent Dianetics Foundation is weird at best, and suspicious at worst.

One is advised to proceed with caution.

I find it at hard to believe that OSA would provide these links on the bottom of the page. Perhaps I am a bit naive.

Recommended Websites:
iScientology.org - The voice of Independent Scientology
Scientology Reviews - Real reviews written by real people on everything Dianetics and Scientology.
Friends of LRH - An extremely well constructed and detailed documentation of the changes which have taken place in the corporate organizations of Dianetics and Scientology under the auspices of David Miscavige since the departure of L. Ron Hubbard.
LRH Words of Wisdom - Articles and quotations from the Founder of Dianetics and Scientology.
Free and Able - Business and personal networking between Scientologists free of the Church.
Ron's Org - Home to a predominantly European network of Independent Scientology organizations.

I noticed that too, and at first had similar thoughts. But then I thought OSA would do it only if it wanted to ingratiate iDianetics.org with the Independent Scientology Community. They could hardly link to Scientlogy.org. :coolwink: And it might look suspicious if they linked to no one.

Perhaps my OP was paranoid, but I've heard concerns and quite frankly the lack of any individuals associated with the site seems weird.

I just think people may want to be cautious.

Good points. Exercising caution would be warranted.

I know it would not be a good thing, but what would be the danger or disadvantage of being on OSA's shit list?

What i noticed about the thing is that nowhere is the word "Dianetic" used. CADA owns the word "Dianetic", so COS is careful not to use it.
You will see that COS always uses "Dianetics" ( with the "S" at the end) so as not to violate CADA's legal ownership of the word " Dianetic".
makes me wonder if he is COS. But I see that he is in nowhere Texas, so he is no one to be concerned about. Prolly one of Marty's guys.

Well this guy John S. Christen calls himself an Independent Scientologist,
but nobody in the Indie Scientologist Facebook group knows him or has
even heard of him prior to this.

(edit added) He is not on the Indie 500 list on Steve Hall's site.
(edit added) There is a youtube channel that seems to belong to him:

Who We Are, and Are Not

Hello.

I am John S. Christen and I am the de-facto “leader” of the Independent Dianetics Foundation. I am not associated, nor is the IDF, in any way with the Church of Scientology and any of its parent or subsidiary organizations.

I am not OSA, the IDF is not OSA. I, and we, are in no way connected with corporate Scientology.

To be quite honest, I was worried in taking the IDF into the public sphere, which is necessary in order for us to expand the way we need to expand to do the things that we aim to do. I was worried that The Church of Scientology and OSA would stop at nothing to stop the IDF and that paranoia translated over into trying to keep my name, myself and my life private and separate from IDF.

I am not the only person to harbor this fear and in fact if you look at ex-members of the Church in almost every case it is exactly this fear that prevents them speaking up about the Church until years after they have left.

In any event, there has been talk on the internet as to just exactly who I am and what the IDF is and what we aim to do and so on. But for all the talk there has been, only a few have actually reached out to try and contact me. I thank them for doing so.

I am, as LRH was, willing to communicate with anyone who reaches out to communicate with me.

“I feel quite humble receiving all these lines and wonderful communications. It could be I have more friends than anyone else on the planet. But whether that’s a fact, it is very certain that I love and appreciate them all.

“All mail addressed to me shall be received by me.

“A message box shall be placed in all Scientology organizations so that any message for me may be recieved by me.

“All Hubbard Communications Office Personnel and Scientology Personnel should not discourage communication to me.

“I am always willing to help.

“By my own creed, a being is only as valuable as he can serve others.” - L. Ron Hubbard, Standing Order No. 1

I can be reached at [email protected]. The Foundation is for everyone. If you have anything you would like to add to it, anything you would like to say about it, any question you would like to ask, suggestions, etc. please do not hesitate to write me about it.

Thank you,

John S. Christen
