What's new

I've got an idea: POSTING ASSISTANCE

strativarius

These should be Strativarius' three pics, they're exscn attachments, right? I took that from a look at the source code. But they do not show up as pics for me. Do they for YOU, Strativarius???
I wrote it each one time with "IMG" tags, one time without but with some stray spaces, so that you can compare the names:

This is the funpic from Armstrong that I have used on the page before - and so far, that still works - right?

Yes, the Armstrong pic works whatever browser I use.

But they do not show up as pics for me. Do they for YOU, Strativarius???

Nope! Not with MSIE.

My brain hurts, I'm not grokking what's going on here at all.

I ALWAYS DO.

I'm tired beyond all bearings. I've been up quite long; although I'm still almost sure that I'm not a whole group of OSA agents (almost). However, I'm very interested in Stratty's pics problem and will look into it later, I have some more ideas, and not all of them end with "IE sucks".

Meanwhile, you can comfort yourself with the thought that you can steal away whoever's uploaded attachments here or linked funpics, by searching them in the html salad and linking them yourself.

Okay, thanks...

1) I've cut away what I didn't need on Armstrong's pic also, to make it work. I left just the 4 Numbers at the end, and it works... Anyhow, it didn't work either when I took all of it:

(What do you see?)

2) When I'm clicking on your links, I get an "invalid attachment" message! :eyeroll:  (Not that I don't believe you, heck no, I do!)

Good night...

I think you should ask a Mod! Especially if this is permanet, or recurring.

Ok, these images are my own private personal hallucination. Nobody else sees 'em! Weird.

Okay. Well, I hardly get any unusual placeholders, with these sites and others, so for the moment I don't know what it is. Tomorrow I'll sort out some more supplementary questions (and, much later, ask them :p ). For example, whether you have tried to upload these three files again. (Yeah, I know, it makes sense, when you can see them anyhow, but...) And which kind of add-ons are active, and which are not.

If you're going to ask any "professional" about this, I'm interested in their answer.

I would like to know how you get a status to appear in the chat box. I see other people do it, and I'd love to do that. But I just have not been able to figure out how to do it.

Go to the Forum Home Page, on the bar that says Chatbox click the little down arrow on the right, that should open the box, start chatting. :) Anyone here can chat there, there's no status required.

Thanks, M3, but I'm not sure that's what I mean. Sometimes I am ESMBing away and I happen to look up at the chat box and it will say some status comment, like "Helena Handbasket is eating an apple." And I wonder how people are getting it to post something like that. Does Helena Handbasket just type in "Helena Handbasket is eating an apple"? like an ordinary chat message? Because it looks like a sort of Facebooky-Twitterish "status" post to me. I don't know if that makes sense.

Edit: I was going to say, you'd think by the time I'd made it to Crusader I'd be bloody allowed to post in the chatbox! Lololol!!

Hum. I've got no idea what you mean, never seen anything like that in the chatbox. Are they doing that often, mean, might I just have missed it? :eyeroll: Maybe my browser cannot display this.
But it sounds interesting... Like facebook parody.

"eldritch cuckoo is cleaning keyboard after it got wet with coffee because of NOTHING"

Oh, you mean those really annoying Chat Box messages such as;

Status Update: *Purple looks confused and scratches her armpit*?

I turned that function off so long ago, I can't remember how I did it. LOL

Try typing a message in the Chatbox with an asterisk either side ie. *(message)* and see if that works, I won't see it of course. If that fails, ask Helenna.

Hmmm, it looks like I'll have to ask Helena. I think I tried asking everyone... sigh! I want the whole world to know I'm confused and scratching my armpit, dammit!!

Status at the time of this posting:
I am using "Internet Explorer". I see placeholders for both of them.

Btw., I have played with their URLs, cut away parts, it doesn't work in any case.

I'm coming to the conclusion that the thumbnails have to be left in place otherwise the main pics disappear. If I knew a bit more about the tek perhaps I'd see what's going on, but I am just a mere C/Perl/Python programmer.

Right. Once more unto the breach...

Digitalis. Can ya see it?

I think it would be a good idea. I hope people who post tiny pics can learn to post bigger pics.

All this bandwidth consumption is all YOUR fault db!!!

So, here is a quote of one of your postings, with the link to the original posting REMOVED, so that it is NOT interactive anymore with your ever again CHANGING posting, because it is important to keep the failed codes/links so that we can demonstrate what went wrong later:

Still, with IE, all these are thumbnails for me.

Lurkers, please comment as well.

Note: usually, I see all user's pictures unless a linked picture has been removed, which I sometimes test by snatching the URL and trying it out, so I'm quite content.

Here is a version of Strativarius' posting with all "IMG" codes and URLs deactivated by spacers, and color coded, so that people can see what is actually written there:

Now I DO see two pictures. The large one, and the small thumbnail below.

This is the code of the relevant part of the posting:

http: //www. forum.exscn.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=8422&d=1413984730

[ ATTACH=CONFIG]8422

Stole it. :coolwink:
Interestingly, this works no matter whether you write "URL"+"IMG" or just "IMG", once it is properly uploaded. In my case, both of these pictures are visible. Deactivated codes below:

[ URL="http: //www. forum.exscn.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=8422&d=1413984730"]http: //www. forum.exscn.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=8422&d=1413984730
