I think the cult has been getting away with so much for so long that they are certain they are bulletproof. Believing their own PR doesn't help either.

Since this investigation started, Jan Eastgate came to Australia once before. The CoS security was the tightest I ever saw. But this event was in Melbourne, in the state of Victoria. She was wanted by the police in NSW. So she wasn't arrested, much to our disappointment. I suspect this gave CoS a false sense of security. Meanwhile, the police just biding their time. Like a cat waiting to pounce. Then Jan shows up for a fundraiser in Sydney.....Bam! Gotcha!

I reckon that osa anzo probably reported up lines (after the Melbourne event) that the situation was 'handled' or was a 'non -sit' suggesting that all was ok in the land down under.

Well if that is what osa anzo did, then they too have really screwed up and heads will roll.

It will be interesting to see who is left standing in osa anzo, if any at all

Did you honest think there was a chance it would go any other way?

The Imaginary Evil Psychs are responsible for every criminal act the cult perpetrates,

Do you think Miscavige wants to beat his staff members? It's the Imaginary Evil Psychs that are causing it.

batshit crazy cult is batshit crazy

Yeah...I'm wondering if that's why they might have possibly even given her up...easiest thing to spin for the moment with all the other stuff hitting them. When stuff hits the fan, find a new SP to blame so the show can go on the road. I hear the scurry of SO feet scrambling to cover themselves...it just can't keep up with it all though. The ship is a sinking....

Scientologist charged for 'intimidating' alleged sex abuse victim

A SENIOR member of the Church of Scientology has been charged by police for intimidating a young girl who wanted to report sexual abuse allegations within the church.

Jan Eastgate, the head of the church's "International Commission on Human Rights" which attacks psychology, has been charged by NSW Police with perverting the course of justice.

According the ABC TV's Lateline, police have alleged Eastgate intimidated a then 11-year-old Carmen Rainer to provide false statements about sexual abuse by her stepfather.

Ms Rainer has alleged that Ms Eastgate, who was then head of the church's citizens' commission on human rights in Australia, told her she should deny any charges of the sexual abuse or she and her brother would be taken away by social services.

Ms Rainer's mother Phoebe has also admitted Ms Eastgate told both of them what to say and to lie to police and in an interview with the Department of Community Services. Ms Eastgate previously called the allegations "egregiously false".

She she has not commented since being charged.

Ms Eastgate has been asked by NSW police to surrender her passport.

Ms Rainer had previously said that she was told by senior Scientology members that abuse was punishment for being bad in a previous life.

"She said, 'Just say no, keep repeating that'," Ms Rainer told the ABC in an interview last year.

"They told me it was my fault because I'd been bad in a past life. I believed them."

Ms Eastgate was the recipient of the Church of Scientology's Freedom Medal for her work with human rights, primarily aimed at uncovering problems with psychology treatments.

The news comes after the Australian Securities & Investments Commission earlier this month launched an inquiry into the business dealings of a Sydney property developer and senior Scientologist over a series of property deals.

The inquiry by ASIC into Carly Crutchfield was launched after independent senator Nick Xenophon - a vocal opponent of Scientology - sent a dossier to the corporate watchdog last month.

Senator Xenophon is calling for a judicial inquiry into the church.

The South Australian senator is asking that the organisation be stripped of its official religious status as a church, which means among other things its earnings aren't taxed.
Scientology is founded on the teachings of American science fiction novelist L. Ron Hubbard, who taught that human psychological problems are a result of an ancient alien leader called Xenu, who attacked the planet Earth and left behind traumatised spirits of the former Earth race.

"stripped of its official religious status as a church"

Wow! If THAT could be done, it might start a domino effect around the planet! Just imagine if all of those TAXES started having to be paid - everywhere! A great deal LESS money for the Church of Scientology to conduct its nasty business with.

Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!! :happydance:

Can you think of a single reason why they should have tax exempt status? .... yeah neither can Senator Xenophon

Good point, Jenni! Their stat is 'situations handled'. They would have reported that Melbourne trip as a 'situation handled'. Wonder who's going to the RPF for that report.

The more the wire services pick up the Eastgate arrests, the more people will read about the whacko scientology practices and beliefs and shake their heads in disbelief. People will stay away in droves. ("And there they were -- gone!")

SenX, you have my complete and total support!

I wonder how many times miscavige has said Fu@k since his President of human rights arrest for violation of human rights.

Who are the actual merchants of Chaos?

He's probably already beyond the swearing and well into the beating of staff members, where as if Hubbard was still running the show, he'd still be curled up in a fetal position and crying about the evil psychs, it would take him a little longer before he made someone else punish the staff members for him.

Carmen and Phoebe have shown remarkable courage and I hope that they will achieve closure on this nasty experience.

I would also like to acknowlege Carmel's willingness to give selfless service as a witness to this shameful incident, when she is aware that as a supporting witness, OSA will do their best to destroy her creditability on the witness stand. Carmel, in my book you are very much the heroine too.

Regards, David.

Oh great find, priceless, that would be a great article to quote from for today tonight.

Psychiatric Rape, assaulting women and children,

Sexual abuse destroys lives.

The defenseless are targeted.

Rape by any other name.

Jans Opening statement, There could be few more bitter experiences than the desperate victim who accepts help and is then betrayed....such despicable treachery in the wake of an already serious personal crisis could only burden the victim with further emotional scars and instability.

How true and how Ironic.
