Scientology Leader’s Niece: “L. Ron Hubbard Was the Ultimate Con Man”
http://www.showbiz411.com/2013/02/0...-niece-l-ron-hubbard-was-the-ultimate-con-man
Yep and this is coming from a guy who claims that people who knew Hubbard and worked with Hubbard don't know what they are talking about when it comes to Hubbard, but Marty who never even caught a glimpse of Hubbard, let alone meet him, or worked with him, is the expert on all things Hubbard.

I will note two things.Notice that today Marty wants to talk about Taoism. When will he have the guts to confront his own wrong-doing? I wonder how the various Indies, etc. are taking Jenna's revelations. Amid the deafening silence I think I can make out the sound of chickens clucking.
I'll let everyone know if and when the above comment is posted.CommunicatorIC | February 6, 2013 at 6:05 pm | Reply Your comment is awaiting moderation.
In the Acknowledgements at page 404 of her book Beyond Belief – My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape, Jenna Miscavige Hill states:
“I want to acknowledge all of the ex-Scientologists and even independent Scientologists who have spoken out over the years on Scientology’s abuses, negligence, and human rights violations, taking personal risk and attack to bring forward the truth and still persevering despite everything. Tory Christman, Mark Bunker, Marc and Claire Headley, Mike and Christie [i.e., presumably Mike Rinder and Christie Collbran], Marty Rathbun, Tom Devocht, Jeff Hawkins, Amy Scobee, Matt Pesch, Lawrence Woodcraft, Chuck Beaty, Paul Haggis, and the many others I have not mentioned. Thank you.”

I believe the issue of book has now been raised on Marty's blog by the following comment that has now been moderated, approved and posted:

Does anyone know if Jenna has ever posted here? Or if she would be allowed to post here?

This woman is courageous beyond measure. Now, I know that she feels very good about the relationship that
she now has with her parents and I certainly would not wish to be disrespectful nor desire any tension there.
Having said that, and I hope I am not out of line, but watching her tell it like it is, observing her bravery and her sincerity I am
continually dogged by the same thoughts ringing in my head and they are, "Where are her parents and Ron senior in
terms of speaking out and backing this incredibly beautiful young woman, a young woman that frankly they all let down?"
These adults need to come up to the plate. Now I haven't read the book (but I will) so I don't know if there are any words
from them committed to the pages of this expose'. What I do know is that whether or not she feels it necessary, I still believe she
deserves a hell of a lot more back up than it appears that she is getting.
Am I out of line here?
Edit: Truth be told, I think we all deserve to hear from them actually.
My guess is that they all signed draconian NDAs -- non-disclosure agreements. Jenna was presented with a NDA that would require her to pay $10,000 for each violation. She refused to sign it. She may the only one of them who is free to speak without being sued for violation of a NDA.![]()

I'm sure they signed non-disclosures, perhaps as a way to avoid being cut off from Jenna when they left and she stayed behind.
I understand what you're saying though.

I agree completely. Their silence is DEAFENING!
To me, you are not at all out of line.![]()
Yeah, I keep forgetting about those damn NDAs. Curious that she didn't have to sign one...maybe she wasn't old enough? I don't know. I forget how old she was when she left.
Well, like I said, I am certainly not trying to stir up anything and I am very, very happy that they are out and certainly, it is obvious that they do, in actual fact, back her 100%
Good for her. She has helped many people for many years starting with leaving and then co-creating the ex-Scn kids site (which made me cry my eyes out).
I just hate the C of S and the control it has over people and their freedom of speech![]()

:confused2:She was legally an adult. All of her family (other than, of course, Uncle Dave) was out. But the COS still had leverage because her husband's large family, who he was (and is) very close to, were still in, and they were threatening to disconnect him from his family. His family did put some pressure on her. She didn't cave. To that family's great credit, neither did they. The book recounts that the members of the husband's family were declared on the day her CNN story ran.Yeah, I keep forgetting about those damn NDAs. And the scientology response that she's "exploiting Miscavige's name" is hilarious. I guess they have been reduced to arguing that she's exploiting herself, since Miscavige is her own name. Lamer than lame.
And as for Miscavige's remark that she's "too stupid to think for herself", that's scientology code for "she's smart enough to think for herself", since so much that they say is the opposite of the truth.
Go, Jenna! I think I'll buy multiple copies of her book and donate them to my public library. And I bet they'll put them in the collection, unlike Hubbard's demented, badly written nonsense. Some day those cowards will be apologizing to you. Just don't hold your breath.

To be honest, I'd be curious if that family are now Indies (Jenna and her husband obviously aren't). If so, that might evidence of one service provided by the Indies -- i.e., providing a place for people to go who don't want to abandon Scientology but also don't want to be disconnected from their SP relatives. I have no idea. Just speculating.
