Here's my position on this death.
Scientology Inc. is continually touting themselves as *experts * on the Human Mind. That is what they SELL for God's sake. Therapy. Advanced wellness. Advanced spirituality. Superior Wisdom and know how on the psyche.
This is their pitch. They call DMSMH "The owner's manual to the Human mind".
I don't give a rat's ass whether Cathrioana did her objectives last week or 6 months ago.
They stupidly, incompetently and greedily took her money for services she DID NOT need, i.e. touching walls and book and bottle and MISSED THE BOAT completely on her mental torment progressing towards Suicide.
For this negligence and greed, taking her $$$ for bogus services and missing the boat, not even *talk therapy* on what was really going on with her, I nail Scientology Inc and condemn them for *Fraudulently* claiming they are experts in the Mind and Spirituality.
They are experts not in clearing the planet but clearing your cash.

Similarly:

Charity (virtue), the religious concept of unlimited love and kindness.

Unlike Scientology "charity status" which was attained by religious cloaking and anyone who disagrees or floweth insufficiently unto Source shalt be throweth under a passing chariot. Amen.

My condolences to Cathriona White's family.. And to Jim Carrey!

But.. While we may seem a bit harsh in our take on it here, we can rely on the Church of Scientology to provide a suitably consoling shore story to the family... Ain't that so?

Yeah, agreed, we are a bit harsh.

And. . .

We are kind of like Nazi concentration camp guards and prisoners who escaped to the free world and breathlessly spit out the unthinkable atrocities happening inside.

The majority of the "ex" critics who post here (typically having spent hundreds of thousands of dollars and decades researching Scientology) are amongst the world's most highly qualified experts & scholars on what Scientology is doing to people behind its glitzy front gate.

Instead of this........

Well, it is certainly possible that my viewpoint on this here thread is mistaken.

In that pic from Advance Magazine you can look at the negative space under the bridge, the bridge arches, and see them as a row of tombstones disappearing into the distance and the viewer being beckoned on to death by the angel. How apt for Scientology to conceal their true intentions in plain sight.

<sigh> Once again:

From Hollywood Life...

“Cathriona’s death is a terrible tragedy, but it didn’t really come as that much of a shock to people who knew her well. She battled depression for most of her life. In fact it was one of the ways she and Jim connected. When he was up, he would try to help her, when she was up, she’d try to help him, and when they were both in a depressive state they would lean on each other. Sometimes they wouldn’t get out of bed for days at a time and just keep the curtains drawn,” a source close to the couple told HollywoodLife.com....

“Jim would sometimes take her out to Hollywood parties, but Cathriona was so shy. You could tell she felt awkward and uncomfortable and just wanted to go home,” the source went on. “It’s not like the end of their relationship is what caused her to take her own life. Depression was something she suffered from most days, but she was really dependent on Jim, especially since he was one of her only friends in the states. That, and she was madly in love with him. When their relationship ended she felt like she had nothing left to live for. So sad because she was gorgeous, talented, and very sweet and kind.”

The Ex and Critic community in their rush to pin this suicide on the Cult may just end up shooting themselves in the foot, and help the Cult's PR at least temporarily if they're wrong. Again, IT IS TOO EARLY TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.

If OSA did a typical "black bag" job on her, and some evidence of that shows up in the future, then the Ex and Critic community will be able to pat themselves on the back and tell the world, "See! We have these fuckers figured out!" Or if several months down the line Jim Carrey and/or close friends say, "I really think that Scientology pushed her over the edge", then again....a see I told you so moment.

But, if the evidence shows in the future that nothing of the sort happened, and that she died solely of a lifelong mental illness with depression as its main symptom then the Cult will say, "See! Typical of the anti-religious bigots and bitter, defrocked apostates to blame every bad thing on us. Their hatred makes them crazy with vengeance and quick to falsely accuse!"

(Now please excuse me but Panda and I have a conference call with OSA, the NOI, and Al Quaeda).

It should be pointed out that people who battle depression for most of their life should never get involved with scientology period.

Scientology can easily use that and magnify it to help squeeze money and effort out of you for their own nefarious purposes. The covert aim is never to make you and independent and healthy person, but to use and manipulate you.

^^^YES. :goodposting:

Low on the right on the OCA (depressed) = Scientology can help you with that! This is ruining your life!

L1Cs? Flying ruds? Puh-LEEEZ! At least those little actions would have been a band-aid of sorts, but she gets put on the Purif, Objectives and SRD!! :wtf:

Then all the anti-psych crap, which starts on Day 1 with KSW and Technical Degrades, which are at the start of every single course pack. M3 and star-rate! Clay demo these "Psychiatry is bad for you and Only Scientology Works" concepts.

Yes, she battled depression all her life. And before Scn, she managed to cope and survive!

After Scn, not even that. :bigcry:

So many people I've known. So many disappeared. So many suicided, ended up in baby watches, some in mental hospitals after Scientology when they were getting along their own way just fine before Scientology.

It is why I am on this Board. It is why fighting this cult matters. Every one of these victims matter. We matter. Our children and loved ones matter, and keeping people out matters. It matters very, very much.

There's that picture of her with her friend in the mirror. I'm pretty sure that's the HGC waiting room at CC. I've spent many hours in that room. I know the viewpoint. CC actually has a nice vibe or at least used to. I didn't believe then nor do I now that psychology/psychiatry had or has the answers - it's completely hit or miss with those people.

So you're in this nice environment, you think maybe the socially excepted practices might be a complete fraud, and just maybe some far out guy named Hubbard came up with something better. People swear by it so it seems worth a shot. You see the facilities they have as well as the materials that exist and it just seems impossible that it could be a fraud.

So you do what they ask. You go in and endure the bizarre questions thinking they must get all kinds of whackos showing up so they must have their reasons. It seems good at times. You simply can't imagine it's all just pretend. That just seems impossible.

Even as I write this, knowing what I know, hanging out at CC still seems enticing. It just fits in with the whole LA buzz. The sad part is it's all just a fantasy and doesn't help you with what you were looking for. You could have a life threatening condition and they will swear they have the answer but scientology is just a high priced hooker. You leave with the same problems but with a lot less money.

I really don't think you understand what these things are like. Many people who end up taking their lives are struggling for years and years and years with these conditions, and yet somehow, barely are able to pick themselves up - again - to try one more time. At some point they just can't do it anymore. scientology is false hope for what could be a terminal patient. Whether that false hope speeds up their demise or actually delays it is anybody's guess. But it should be removed from society because it is false - aka a lie.

Anyone with any sign of mental health issues (past or present) should not be anywhere near scientology because they should not encourage them in the first place.

We all know that the very first "oh so casual" thing done to a new person in scientology is actually an attempt to introvert and CREATE issues so they can flog their 'services" ... if you wander in feeling good they make sure you stagger out with a head full of "outpoints" and negatives about yourself via their very first attack. It takes a very strong and secure person to be able to flick them and the doubts and concerns they induce off.

The OCA test (Oxford Capacity Analysis or "personality test") is used on every single new person. In around half an hour you can go from happy to deeply concerned, and that is the intended result (though the staff member responsible may not realise it for a very long time).

It's a toxic environment for everyone but especially so for those in need of actual help mentally.

The poor girl was heartbroken by the sound of it and may well have taken her life regardless of whether she was a scientologist or not, but that's not the point, she was a scientologist and they should never have been involved in her life in the first place knowing she was fragile.

RIP Cathriona.

...

Just imagine...

A lovely girl who suffers from serious depression.

And the cure is...

Touching walls. And--

Picking up a book/bottle and guessing the weight.

And as far as what she was promised about her depression, Scientology doesn't "handle that".

Then she kills herself.

And Scientology pretends it has nothing to do with it.

Today's Sun newspaper in the UK has a 2-page spread linking this death to Scientology:

There are quotes from 3 ESMB members - Karen De La Carriere, John Duignan and John McGhee.

I don't know, but whenever I see this image it makes my blood run cold. There is something about it that reminds me of the KGB or 1984. It definitely looks like the facade of a cult set on world-domination.

As far as the odds of her having been deliberately killed by Scn operatives, I agree with you that it is very unlikely, and it's too early to tell.

As far as the probability of Scn having been a contributing factor to her death, I do not discount it as unlikely.

Would senior execs have been aware of her being in a relationship with Carrey? That would be a certainty.

Would DM have had an interest in that relationship, and the possibility of it leading to having Carrey saying positive things about Scn? I think this would also be close to certain. Even if Carrey did not personally become a Scn, him saying things like "My girlfriend is a Scn, and it seems to have helped her very much" would have been a big plus.

Would his juniors been very keen to push her to make the relationship work out? Close to certainty. She would have had people in touch with her regularly, stressing the value to Scientology of her making the relationship work.

Would DM have been unhappy that the relationship didn't work out? Very high probability.

Would this unhappiness roll down hill to the people assigned to promote the relationship? Also a high probability.

Would the people assigned to her make her feel guilty about not "making it go right" with Jim? I would say this was very likely.

Would the resulting "make wrong" have been good for her mental state? No. And given her fragile mental state, it may have been a contributing factor to her diving into depression and suicide.

What we may find out in the future, if Mr. Carrey ever decides to talk openly about it, is that Miss White could have been urging him to do the Purif and then the Objectives. He may have then as a result decided to end the relationship with her because of his deep opposition to Scientology. Then the breakup was the straw that broke the camel's back which led her to suicide. From what her friends are saying, her relationship with Jim Carrey meant everything to her.

The possible Scientology connection to her death being a "3rd Party" to their relationship, which he just could no longer tolerate. That is a plausible scenario, IMO.

And I agree with you that DM and Co. could have wanted them to ultimately become a "successful Scientology Hollywood couple".

One thing we know with absolute certainty is that there would have been some kind of pressure put on her regarding Jim Carrey and the cofs is always the "3rd Party" in any relationship, always, always, always ... it's just the way it is and it causes endless breakups.
