. If a "hostage" could escape a building, and make a fuss, a protester would see them inside the fence.
. Protesters, have your camera ready, with adequate charge, or extra high quality batteries.
. For better pictures, remain in one place, move around as little as possible.
. Do NOT whip the camera back and forth quickly, this makes the video un-viewable.
. Taking a picture while running or walking almost always results in an un-viewable video.
. The scientology thugs will be all over the place, trying to mess up your picture.
. Try to get solid/still pictures, of a few seconds each, of all faces, especially any escapees.
. Ask them to speak their name, don't interrupt when they're talking.
. You will probably be nervous, so make sure you have the camera running.
. And make sure you don't have your finger covering the lens.
. You might consider turning the camera around to show your face, at your risk.
. You might consider speaking your name, at your risk.
. You might consider speaking the date, time, and place onto the video.
. Keep audio happening on the film, be an announcer, don't use profanity in case it ends up on TV.
. After you've taken the film, the scientology thugs will be all over the place, yelling, and pushing.
. Remove the tiny SD-Ram from the camera, hide it, in your shoe, your wallet or a pocket.
. Don't mix your valuable SD-Ram with other SD-Rams, mark them ahead of time if possible.
. Possibly even put a dummy SD-Ram back into the camera, so they won't suspect anything.
. Let the scientology thugs confiscate the camera if necessary, but don't lose the good SD-Ram.
. If the file is on a (non sony) SD-Ram, set the (lock) write-protect switch "upward" away from the golden connectors.
. Enabling the SD-Ram's write protect switch will prohibit you from mistakenly deleting the file.
. They probably have microphones in that area, so don't threaten, say, or do anything that's illegal.
. Act fast, if possible, make numerous copies of the video file.
. Copying to/from SD-Rams is "slow", be patient, don't use the PC for anything else while copying.
. Give the extra copies of the video file to people you "trust".
. Quickly upload the file to YouTube, and immediately post numerous links to it.
. Allow people you trust to plug the SD-Ram into their newer gen notebooks or PCs to make a copy.
. Tell them to copy the file quickly, but do NOT let the SD-Ram out of your sight.
. Ask them to copy the file back to any extra SD-Rams you have, write protect SD's, hand them out.
. Be careful of SD-Rams and CD-Roms that people give you, they may have a virus.
. Always keep the write protect switch enabled on your "initial" SD-Ram. That is very clear.
. Then "after" you've done that, call KESQ TV for a breaking story interview.
. Shoot video of the KESQ TV crew filming you, in case the story gets killed on their station.
. Do all of this "before" talking to the "so called" authorities.
. I'm so sorry to say, but I'm not sure Riverside County, CA wouldn't bury the story.
. Once again; turn the camera ON, remain still, don't whip the camera back and forth quickly.
. I do not recommend using "digital" zooms, because zoomed in pictures are "grainy".
. Full scale pics can be zoomed in just as well by using a PC, but it takes more expertise.
. An "optical" zoom camera is the kind with a telescoping lens, zoomed in shots are clear.
. When either digital or optical oucs are zoomed in, it's even more important to remain STILL.
. A 30 frame-per-second (FPS) movie is larger and better quality, than a jerky 10 FPS movie.
. The audio should be about the same on a 10 FPS or 30 FPS movie.
. A 30 FPS movie, 9 minutes long will be about 1 gig in size, approaching YouTube time limit.
. A 10 FPS movie will be much smaller, but you will miss 2/3 of the frames of the video.
. The price of SD-Rams, which are 1 GB, or 2GB in size, are $10-$15ish US as of March-2009.
. Larger SD-Rams are available, but older cameras/PCs may not be able to read/write them.
. Cameras with 8 or greater megapixels are $100 to $200 US.
. Cameras with a bulge on one end generally have 2 AA batteries, vs a proprietary battery.
. Cell phones are OK, but generally have lower "movie" quality than a real camera.
. However, still shots taken with some cell phone cameras can be 640x480, which is good.
. Movies taken with a cell phone are often tiny on the screen, and just a few seconds long.
. When using a cell phone to take "movies", maybe pics too, be very close to the subject.
. The cool thing about a cell phone, is you can email pics right from the phone, no PC needed.
. Test out your camera, uploads, copies, etc when the stakes are low.
. No sweat if you mess up the first few movies, it should be expected, won't cost anything.
. Just get in practice for when it's game time.
