KHTK is coined from "Knowing How To Know."

These KHTK Essays are the outcome of the EFFORT TO SIMPLIFY thread. These essays contain in a nutshell the effectiveness of Scientology without all the curves, which infect that subject.

These essays may be regarded as an extension of 2500 years old Vipassana meditation taught by Buddha. The evolution of these essays continues.

KHTK #1 LOOKING
KHTK #2 EXPERIENCING
KHTK #3 NON-OPTIMUM ATTENTION
KHTK #4 VIEWPOINT

Here is a feedback I got form an ex-Scientologist who did all the exercises of KHTK #1 LOOKING

I did all exercises of KNOWING HOW TO KNOW SERIES # 1.

Noticed gradients of change on the following subjects :

Increased awareness of Looking as a skill all by itself.

Increased tendency to be looking instead of thinking.

Increased awareness of my environment.
Extroverted, released from enturbulation, more in present time.
More alert and conscious of me as myself executing the activity of Looking.
More at cause over Lookingness and Attention.
Drill promotes causativity towards environment.

Looking at things with no effort, more relaxed.
Better understanding of the thought process.
(Mind can loose a lot of time on figure-figure)

Feeling of release because I didn´t had to make an effort to find things in the mind,
no pressure to find a response.
Also not supressing automaticities but looking at them orients oneself
on the correct direction towards as-is-ness ( I used to try to supress all the
automaticities of my mind, allways with bad results ).

I had a tendency to concentrate all my attention in the matter at hand
with almost no attention left for anything else and feel it´s better
distributed now.
During all my auditing I used to submerge (on purpose) into thinkingness after session
with the purpose of deepening the cognitions I just had not knowing that it was
introverting me back into the bank.

Going back into thinking instead of looking was a "beautiful" way to avoid confront
and always ended moving in circles and into complexities.

Can´t find anything wrong with this...... making an effort to find something even if nothing
naturally comes to mind.....................

Could this exercise help higly enturbulated people ?
Probably yes, with the help of a guide.

Maybe looking at the mind could lower havingness, or some people with already low havingness
may not want to get rid of their problems, but going back to look at the environment is
a possible solution if that were the case or some other havingness process.

Well, this is as far as I can go now.

There is a lot packed into these four short essays. These truths have been there all along. I have simply compiled them with a lot of help from many sources.

These essays are free for anyone who wants to use them to help oneself and others.

The KHTK principles let the mind unwind itself in a natural way.

Tricking the mind to unwind itself in spurts, as in Scientology, may provide sudden highs, but those highs do not maintain themselves. One gets the taste of freedom, which then doesn't last. And it puts a person in a state of mind of wanting more of what he only got a glimpse of. It becomes a "spiritual addiction" somewhat parallel to a drug addiction.

Tricking the mind to unwind itself in spurts is not natural. And anything unnatural has unwanted consequences. One seeks more and more spiritual highs, and gradually becomes willing to do anything to get them. Thus, one loses freedom as one gets more desperate in one's efforts to seek freedom.

Freedom comes to one when one is not seeking it. It comes gradually and naturally when one is simply doing what one is doing when one is doing it with full awareness.

The KHTK principles help you be more naturally you. Freedom then appears naturally.

Here is a look on another thread at Buddhism versus the goals in Scientology.

Buddhism. The ineffable ultimate in which one has attained disinterested wisdom and compassion.

Hinduism. Emancipation from ignorance and the extinction of all attachment.

Etymology
From Sanskrit nirvana (blowing out, extinguishing, extinction), from nis- (out) + vati (it blows). Ultimately from Indo-European root we- (to blow) that is also the source of wind, weather, ventilate, window and wing

nirvana
(Sanskrit: "Extinction") In Indian religious thought, the transcendent state of freedom achieved by the extinction of desire and of individual consciousness. Nirvana is the supreme goal of the disciplines of meditation, particularly in Buddhism. Release from desire (and consequent suffering) and the continuous round of rebirths constitutes enlightenment, or the experience of nirvana. Theravada Buddhism conceives of nirvana as tranquillity and peace; Mahayana Buddhism equates it with sunyata (emptiness), dharma-kaya (the essence of the Buddha), and dharma-datu (ultimate reality).

This is where Hubbard strayed away from Buddhism. He could not have "extinction of desire and of individual consciousness." For Hubbard the "attainment of total individuality" was the mantra!

Poor Hubbard! He did not quite realize that a universe itself is a games condition. Individuality is an intrinsic part of this games condition.

Reading Hubbard sounds good until you see how he fared himself in following his own philosophy. The deeper one goes into his philosophy the more one becomes aware of the contradictions that finally did him in.

But Hubbard did give a good old boy try! One can learn a lot from his efforts.

Here is some more feedback from the same person. It is from this thread on The Scientology Forum

http://www.scnforum.org/index.php?t=msg&th=181&start=0&S=9b467c0ac212da56e4e7453325ed5752

Did all exercises of KNOWING HOW TO KNOW # 2

Gradients of change in the following:

Increased awareness of mental processes, emotions and energy in the mind in the form of flows.
Recognition of emotions which are continnuously or frecuently present and reduce them.
Recognition of patterns of mental behaviour and emotions in relation to different beingnesses, and how I assume them.

Feelings of harmony and relaxation at the end.

General comments on KHTK 1 & 2

First of all, the following comments are not done with the intention to add anything to these processes, their beauty and workability are very much related to their simplicity. If this could lead to higher simplicity, then it would be nice.

So far it looks like this to me:

LOOKING at environment
at mind (pictures)

EXPERIENCING (deeper looking) at environment
at mind (flows)

Each person looks from his own level of awareness

The activity of looking without thinking and then experiencing without avoiding, resisting or suppressing it back increases level of awareness.

The person looks deeper, with higher focusing ability. Theoretically, this could go all the way up to as-ising all mind. (That would be Nirvana,, as far as I can imagine, wouldn´t it ?) Do you have an idea of how far this goes ?

Havingness and creativity keep coming back to my mind, this as-isness could be much on the side of destruction and deplete havingness (I haven´t experienced this so far, though) At the beginning looking at the environment balances it but if the person starts as-ising big pieces of the mind, might need to balance with creative as-isness or something like that.

I experienced flows all four ways, maybe that could be pointed out on the exercises.

The simplicity of this process allows high duplication, reduces risk of alteration, and even makes me think it could be a self-correcting process (as the awarenes of the practitioner increases, he could be focusing with higher precision and doing the process with higher eficiency)- I´ll stop now, I´m flying, I blame it on your exercises........

Vinaire, how do you have time to think all these deep thoughts let alone post all this tl/dr gobbeldy gook incessantly?

Please write a book and let people who are interested buy it and read it.

Dear Ladybird, you have rights to put me on ignore. But let me just say it, "These essays may prove helpful to you." I don't promise anything.

Ignore my incessant gobbeldy gook; but try out the exercises in these essays. You will make me happy.

Thank you for putting up with me.

KHTK 1 & 2 are at the ground level of technology. At KHTK 3 we note that Attention acts like a built-in "e-meter." In any case, we are looking at an internal guidance mechanism that may help apply this technology most optimally. At KHTK 4 an individual may start to customize the KHTK approach to one.

I feel that KHTK 1, 2 and 3 are pretty much wrapped up. KHTK 4 has a potential for a lot more refinement.

KHTK 1, 2 & 3 may be applied to each and every process developed in Scientology. That would be like working through the "Education Layer" of KHTK 4. I would like to do that and report on it before I recommend it to anybody else. I believe that KHTK approach is safe as long as one does not push the mind, and simply looks at what comes up.

It is anybody's guess as to how far this looking and experiencing may take one in as-ising the mind. I believe that Buddha took this approach. This encourages me to look at Buddhism more deeply.

I believe that what one is destroying here is complexity, and that does not necessarily deplete havingness because one is gaining simplicity at the same time. It is a transformational process.

The KHTK #4 VIEWPOINT is currently under reconstruction based on the following feedback and more.

Ok V, I've read the text (pages 1 thru 4) and here are my observations stated of course as pre-conditioned/influenced opinions.

I enjoyed the essay overall to begin with in terms of its relative swiftness at getting to the point. Which point I would call intelligent simplicty.

Consequently on the second read I was able to relax and focus more on the substance than the form of it. Though I will add regarding 'form' that a preface of sorts (just 1 or 2 lines) indicating the essays 5 excercises consisted of Thinking, Education, Experience and Fundamental Considerations approached from the idea of 'LOOK AT "WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING" THROUGH', would have been helpful to me personally in having an overall view (going in) of what I was about to read or discover. That of course being a personal preference of form, not substance.

In substance I came away with the feeling the essay is right on provided the audience is amendable or comfortable with the nomenclature of it. Which perception actually validates the substance of the course. From my point of view.

I found myself translating some of the text as I was reading it into words I was more familiar with that conveyed the same/essential underlying meaning of those words to me. For example I changed the words "LOOK AT" to "OBSERVE", and left the words "WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING THROUGH" as they were. The reason for this for me is the Observation of Thought for example is not equal to the Looking at a Body. A distinction which is perhaps altogether meaningless or inconsequential to the essay's intent, neverthess that was my experience V.

There is much more I experienced from the material and am willing to share it with you and all at another time, if you like. Otherwise overall I shall give it an A-... Lots of Laughter!

mm&i

P.S. of course 'action' is the key, not mere intellectual/theoritical gymnastics, as beautiful as they can be (i.e. 'do' the exercises, lol!)

Self - Mind - Brain Evolution

(1) There seems to be a gradient from observer at one end to brain at the other end.

(2) Observer is totally abstract, whereas brain is totally concrete.

(3) Mind is somewhere in between.

(4) Mind starts with a postulate that turns into a consideration.

(5) The first consideration is that of individuality or self (the basic identity)

(6) It develops into a “thought package” called the mind.

(7) The mind is made up of interconnected considerations.

(8) These interconnections form the “natural laws” of the universe that the mind is.

(9) These “natural laws” gather to themselves experiences.

(10) These experiences contain associations (logic) and dissociations (illogic).

(11) These experiences gather similar experiences of others (education)

(12) These experiences and education gather speculations, projections, etc (thinking).

(13) Thus, the mind grows as a network of thoughts, ideas, experiences and considerations (data).

(14) The guiding consideration is the first consideration of individuality or self.

(15) An input to the mind may produce an immediate output, which may then act as an input to thus start a chain of outputs.

(16) A better understanding of the mind comes from the earliest of these outputs in the chain that one may catch.

(17) Thus, a clearing of the mind may occur.

(18) Part of the mind may agree with other minds that started from a different individuality or self.

(19) These agreements tend to become “constants” and gain more durability.

(20) As more minds join this “club” of agreements, the “club” tends to take an identity as “organism.”

(21) This “organism” is perceived by all members of the club.

(22) Thus, comes about the physical universe and its “natural laws.”

(23) The minds may then become creative with this physical universe.

(24) Thus come about experiences, education and thinking in the physical universe.

(25) Thus come about recognizable shapes and objects and the spaces among them.

(26) Thus come about motion of these objects and interactions among them.

(27) Thus come about bodies (physical organisms) intimately motivated by individual minds.

(28) Thus come about the brain – the control center of the body.

Of course, the above has to be polished up considerably.

A bull in a china shop
Unaware of the finesse there.
Or a dog lifting his leg
To pee on a tree he knows not
This is the quality of habit...
A life running on its own...
Boring.

The above is my expanded Haiku for today. :D

The Heart

Look and experience what you are afraid of.

A person having a heart problem does not want to look at his heart; hoping the heart would continue beating if he does not look at it.

But not looking and not feeling stresses the heart more.

So look and experience the heart.

You'll be better off.

You know I am just pulling your chain here, Vinnaire.

I do think that this is not necessarily the best forum for all your work.

Get it published. Submit it to some metaphysical or philosophical journal.

Otherwise, if it has value (and I'm saying it does) it will be wasted here.

Here is more from Rafael of TSF, who is working with KHTK exercises:

I know I haven´t written my report on KHTK # 3 and I have now been doing KHTK # 4 for a couple of weeks but this urgency to write this quick note came as I don´t know if I will dissapear and not decide to appear again....

I have this strong belief that the KHTK process corrects itself, so I haven´t been doing it exactly as written,.... or maybe yes, very much: lately I have been looking at my body as what "I use to look trough", and then at "myself".....

I found the gates to Heaven.
They are right there where pan-determinism becomes self-determinism.
Just at their steps there is the Garden of Eden.
It is the point where all games begin. Seems to me that each game we start, time begins for it, and it is a new universe being created, and each one of us has all these universes coexisting.

Also seems to me that Heaven is the creation point of hell.(The down side of games, at least of games we play in this universe).
When we create a goal, we are creating it´s opposite at the same time, and when we start fighting it we make it more real, and it pulls us all the way down the scale, until we become the opposite of our original goal. Like cycles of action which start at the top and end at the bottom of the scale.

When Ron gave all his faith to Scientology, he lost his faith on his fellow humans.

Scientology fell from a state of pure knowledge into games conditions.

It was a tool to be used by beings able to look and decide by themselves, it was a servant of the mind. And then, It became the master of the mind, a religion which is also an absolute God who looks and decides in stead of it´s followers.

There was a time when I also was a blind man who wanted something who could look in my stead...., and take me right back to Heaven.....

Scientology became a religion who looks and decides instead of it´s blind

These KHTK essays are based on Buddha's Vipassana Meditation.

CONSIDERATION

(1) A consideration is something considered.

(2) “Beginning” is a consideration.

(3) “Before the beginning” is also a consideration.

(4) “Cause” is a consideration.

(5) “Effect” is a consideration.

(6) Thus, there is consideration.

(7) We consider that for anything to exist it must have been caused.

(8) Existence of these considerations then makes us consider “Cause”.

(9) The consideration of Cause then makes us consider “Effect”.

(10) Thus, we have consideration of association, and that gives us LOGIC.

(11) Effect becomes the identity of the consideration we started out with.

(12) Thus, we have the consideration of IDENTITY, and we give identity to existence.

(13) Effect then describes the whole scope of Cause, another dreamed up identity.

(14) “Beginning” gives us the consideration of TIME, and we get the cycle of action.

(15) Considerations come about because there are considerations.

(16) Thus, considerations generate themselves.

(17) This whole exercise is just a consideration, which gives us...

FACTOR 1: Before the beginning was a Cause and the entire purpose of the Cause was the creation of effect.
