Incorrect Assumption

The basic assumption in Dianetics and Scientology is that the preclear cannot see, and the insistence from the auditor is required to overcome the resistance from the mind. This is a false assumption. An auditor does not need to "get the preclear to see." An automaticity would respond to a proper question and would come up for the preclear to notice. It would come up in the sequence that it could be un-stacked. And that is okay.

Hubbard's effort has been to bypass that natural sequence in which the aberrations want to un-stack themselves, and force the preclear to go straight to the supposed "basis" of that aberration. This does give an occasional win of sorts but it creates a charge of its own, which then creates problems. I don't think this area of "auditing creating its own charge" was researched properly by Hubbard. He took it as additional case. Hence, his research has resulted in an interminable "bridge."

If "getting the preclear to see" charge is not created, then, I believe, a person's case can be handled rather quickly without the need for a "bridge."

Repetitive Processing

I am looking at Level 0 Processes.

The idea of a Repetitive Process combined with e-metering is for the birds. There are so many things that can go wrong, especially, when one is running cookie cutter processes.

Repetitive processing forces the preclear to look for an answer even when nothing is coming up, and especially when the “needle is not floating.” This often results in

(1) Dub in.
(2) Overrun
(3) Upsets

This whole Level 0 repetitive processing approach is for the birds. It may work, but very inefficiently.

The KHTK approach is much more effective. For example, if the process is,

“Remember something”

Then, simply sit down with the idea of "remembering something" in your mind, and see what is there until nothing is coming up and your attention is at optimum. This can go very, very fast. You won't miss anything.

Or, you may find that your attention is on something else that needs to be looked into first. And that is perfectly okay.

Level 0 Process

Here is another Level 0 process:

“Recall a time when you thought something bad was unimportant.”
“Recall a time somebody else thought something bad was important.”


The second command is not essential.

With KHTK approach it may take less than 10 minutes to complete this process.

It may take longer if one has lot of withholds. But the beauty of KHTK approach is that one handles witholds by coming clean to oneself. One does that by fully looking at the withhold, and not resisting it, and then taking full credit for it.

Level 0 Process

R2-31 BEINGNESS PROCESSING

“Look around the room and discover some object which you don’t mind being present.”
“Locate something else you don’t mind being present.”

“Now see this (room object) here?”
“All right, what else wouldn’t you mind this (room object) being?”

“Now what wouldn’t you mind your body being?”
“And now what else wouldn’t you mind your body being?”

“Now let’s find something you wouldn’t mind being.”
“What else wouldn’t you mind being?”


One may use the KHTK approach to run the above processes... That is, just follow a command and observe where your attention goes... then look at it without thinking... and experience it without resisting.

You may do it solo or with the help of a guide.

In KHTK one simply uses OPTIMUM ATTENTION as the EP. See KHTK #3 NON-OPTIMUM ATTENTION.

There is no need to worry about the communication lag.

KHTK #4 VIEWPOINT talks about the function of a GUIDE in more detail. A guide is not an AUDITOR because the guide does not compute. A guide is simply there to help the student apply the KHTK principles, and just be there for the student.

A guide is not interested in knowing any details about the student's case. It is up to the student if he or she wants to discuss anything. And then also, the guide does not give any advice or suggestions outside the scope of these KHTK documents.

The problem of withhold has to do with the problem of not wanting to look. It is a problem of RESISTANCE. The guide is not concerned about the student's withholds. The guide is only interested in helping the student overcome any resistance that the mind puts up.

First and foremost a person has to come clean to oneself. The student does not have to talk about his withhold to the guide. He simply overcomes any resistance by looking into that area without thinking (without any shame, blame, regret, justifications, explanations, etc.). He looks at his actions objectively and acknowledges them as being his actions. He takes full credit for his actions and any consequences thereby.

Once the student has come clean to himself, it then becomes easier for him to do whatever he needs to do to makeup for the damage he caused. That is a matter of one's conscience. The guide just leaves it to the student to follow his conscience in the matter.

My postulate

I feel that I have now achieved what I had postulated sometime back to simplify what worked in Scientology. All that effort has now been formally organized in the following four documents.

Thanks to Emma for providing this forum as the inspirational background.

I firmly believe that this KHTK approach, once learned, may be applied to pretty much all the Scientology processes on a solo basis, or with the help of a guide. E-meter is not required. All the arduous auditor training is not required. All that is required is a sense of decency, earnestness, and honesty.

The better one understands the KHTK approach the more wonderful will be the gains.

This data is free for anybody to use. You may quote it, copy it, and distribute it as long as you respect the integrity of these materials and keep them free. You may definitely charge a reasonable amount for the time you devote to helping somebody in need who is then benefited from it, but keep in mind that by helping others you are essentially helping yourself; and that is the real payback.

Our true freedom depends on the freedom of everyone we are in touch with. So, do whatever you can to help others improve their understanding and awareness, and maybe we shall soon have a growing network of sanity spreading all over the place.

We now have a nucleus in these documents that express the ancient truths in modern vocabulary in as simple a manner as possible. Let's utilize this nucleus to make sanity grow.

Process R2-31 in the book “Creation of Human Ability” states:

There is a gradient scale of exteriorization which could be described as follows:
(1) A thetan without contact with a universe
(2) A thetan in full contact with a universe
(3) A thetan in contact with part of a universe, who considers the remainder of the universe barred to him
(4) A thetan in a universe without any contact with any part of the universe
(5) A thetan unknowingly in contact with a large part of a universe.

Step (1) above is in error because as long as a thetan exists, awareness also exists, and that awareness constitutes a universe.

A thetan represents individuality. This implies that there are other thetan (individualities) separate from a thetan. Separation implies space (awareness). Space (awareness) implies universe.

THERE IS NO SUCH STATE AS A THETAN WITHOUT AWARENESS AT THE TOP OF THE SCALE. THERE IS ONLY NIRVANA.

The idea that a thetan (individuality) can exist at the top of the scale totally exterior to a universe is in error.

Reincarnation

The flip side of INDIVIDUALTITY is UNIVERSE. As long as there is a universe, there is also individuality. Extinguishing of a universe means the extinguishing of individuality as well. Beyond that there is simply the NOTHINGNESS of Nirvana (pure potential).

In the beginning there is no distinction between the thetan (individuality) and his personal universe. They are one and the same. The thetan may subsequently identity himself with something that he created in his own universe and reduce his stature to being a body with an identity within his universe.

The body and identity are flip sides of each other just like individuality and universe are. As long as there is a body, there is also an identity. Extinguishing of a body means the extinguishing of an identity as well. Beyond that there is simply the individuality of the universe.

When one loses the identity of the body, and has no other identity, then one reverts to being the individuality of the universe. This is not “merging” with the universe because one is the universe to start with. On the other hand, as one identifies more and more deeply with things that one created in one’s universe, one becomes those things. Thus, one loses the flexible individuality as a universe and becomes the mechanical identity defined in that universe.

The physical universe is an overlapping of individual universes or thetans. Within this physical universe there are “bodies” from inert to inanimate to animate. As identification takes place with these bodies, interiorization into the physical universe takes place. Death of a physical body results in the extinguishing of the physical identity, but a picture of that body may continue to persist in one’s own universe and one may remain identified with it. To that degree one still has an identity and one has not regained one’s individuality.

Thus, even after the physical death, the thetan is still identifying himself with a picture in his own universe, of the long gone physical body. When the thetan again comes in contact with the physical universe, and assumes another physical body, then the identity he has in his own universe is layered within it. Thus, we have the phenomenon of “reincarnation.” The present physical identity may have ghosts of previous identities layered in it.

But, after physical death, if the thetan lets go of the identification even with the body’s picture in his own universe, then he returns to simply being his own universe. In this case, when the thetan again comes in contact with the physical universe, and assumes another physical body, then he does not experience the phenomenon of “reincarnation.”

As it is with a universe such as the physical universe, so it is with physical bodies. The thetan who has already gone through the cycle on the universe itself may be in contact with a physical body in the same order. At first he would be without association with a physical body then with occasional contact with bodies then with a fixed contact on one body, but exteriorized then interiorized into a body, but easy to exteriorize then in contact with and interiorized into a body, but withdrawn from the various parts of the body and then obsessively ‘buttered all through the body’ then obsessively and unknowingly drawn down to some small portion of the body, and so forth. – LRH, Process R2-31 in the book “Creation of Human Ability”

One gets a picture that thetan is a “spark” that is without contact with a physical body, then in occasional contact with bodies, then in fixed contact on one body, then in and out of the body, etc.

This is incorrect picture, because thetan is not a thing; it is a creator of things. What we are looking here are simply considerations.

“Without contact with a physical body” means that the consideration of a physical body is simply not there in the thetan’s universe. “In occasional contact with bodies” simply means that the thetan now and then entertains the considerations of physical bodies. “Fixed contact on one body” means having attention fixated on a particular consideration of a physical body. “In and out of the body” means having a fixed consideration, and then moving attention away from that fixed consideration. It doesn’t mean that the fixed consideration went away. It just means that the thetan fixes attention on that fixed consideration, or moves the attention away from that fixed consideration of physical body.

“Exteriorization” does not mean physical separation from the body. It means attention moving away from the consideration that one is that physical body.

The Factors

My consideration is that Factors are not "sequential." The Factors are "recursive" by definition. RECURSIVE is a beautiful concept best understood in the context of mathematics. Fractals demonstrate the idea of "recursive" very well.

The personal universe starts at Factor #2 when the consideration "TO BE" appears. This universe starts to become more and more complex as more considerations are added.

The question, "Who makes the consideration "TO BE"?" serves to evoke more considerations only. Going forward from "TO BE" is like traversing in the positive direction from 0 on a number line. Going backward from "To BE" would be like traversing in the negative direction.

The fact is that when you consider something, all you have is the consideration. So, what is at Factor #1 cannot be considered in the absence of considerations that follow from Factor #1... Just like 0 cannot be considered in the absence of numbers that follow from 0.

Any effort to separate one consideration from rest of the considerations is just arbitrary. They all are interconnected. Therefore, the effort to separate "TO BE" (Thetan) from rest of the considerations (Universe) is just arbitrary. THETAN and UNIVERSE are the two aspects (or factors) of the same thing.

When you say, "any universe the Thetan chooses to be," you are simply talking about identification. That is how identities come about.

When I say, "Let there be a table." I have considered a table. That table is part of my universe. Now I say, "I am a table." I have identified myself with my own consideration. I shall now be entering the universe of a table. It is just a universe within the universe, which started with the postulate "TO BE." It is like going from "individuality" to "identity." From that "identity" I may then consider something, and identify myself with that thing. So I may enter the universe of an "identity^2" (identity to the second degree).

An IDENTITY is the result of identifying with a created consideration. The identity to the Nth degree may just be a physical particle. So, what may appear as a simple identity may be made up of many, many layers of identifications within identifications...

I do think that identities (identification with considerations, and the considerations themselves) can be unmocked and one can work back to simpler and simpler identities. At the end of this reverse trail would be individuality and self-awareness.

Self-awareness is what the universe has reduced to at this level. You cannot separate individuality from self-awareness. You extinguish one and you extinguish the other.

It is NIRVANA after that extinguishing.

Hubbard's Error

The whole effort to exteriorize somebody in Scientology is simply the effort to get the preclear to look at his identification with a physical body. The process R2-31 is designed to bring the pc to this realization on a gradient. However, I do not quite agree with the approach LRH takes here. He says,


Remember always, that when an auditor asks a question, that question has to be answered by the preclear. It is the auditor's bad luck if he asks a question which introduces an enormously long communication lag in the preclear. The preclear must still answer the question. --- LRH, Process R2-31 in the book "Creation of Human Ability"

This is application of force. It pressures the pc to find an answer even when no answer is coming up in his mind. This is liable to get the pc into thinking up an answer and dubbing-in, or getting into overrun.

Besides, the process here is not broad enough to handle other considerations that might interfere with the EP aimed at here. That is to say, this process does not address other considerations that need to be handled on the way.

From my experience of much grinding on DIANETICS auditing, I know that auditor's were trained not to accept the answer from the pc, "Nothing is coming up." Auditor's were trained only to accept an answer from the bank.

LRH knew that much grinding was occurring on Dianetic auditing. He opted for the explanation of "Dianetic Clear." This, in my opinion, was a cop out. It was a "mere explanation" of Data Series.

LRH was being dense here. He was trapped in the "correctness" of his own theory.

Very curious phenomena result from “Think a thought” and “Receive a thought.” It will be found sometimes that it is easier for the preclear to think a thought for another universe than for himself to think a thought. Let us take for example a preclear who is entirely interiorized into the universe of his mother. It would, therefore, evidently be much easier for him to have his mother think a thought than for the preclear himself to think a thought. As a matter of fact it might be an enormous struggle, resulting in rebellion, for the preclear himself to think a thought, but it would be very easy for the preclear to have his mother think a thought. --- LRH, PAB 54

A UNIVERSE is essentially the same as VIEWPOINT. This goes back to Factor #6.

FACTOR 6: The action of a dimension point is reaching and withdrawing.

We consider our universe by putting dimension points out there. We do this from the viewpoint. Then we view those dimension points through a filter to make them look solid. This solidity persists. When we view those dimension points without any filter we simply as-is them. In other words, they reduce back to our considerations. They no longer appear solid.

It is the VIEWPOINT then from which a universe is created. It is VIEWPOINT + FILTER that makes the universe persist and look solid. Finally, it is the original VIEWPOINT from which the universe is destroyed. Thus, the VIEWPOINT and UNIVERSE are two different aspects of the same phenomenon.

When a preclear is interiorized into the universe of his mother, it means that he is looking from the viewpoint of his mother, or he is using his mother’s viewpoint as a filter to look through. That filter is interpreting the world for him. Since thinking is based on the perceptions, and those perceptions are influenced by “mother as a filter,” his thinking would also be influenced by “mother as a filter.” Thus, it would be much easier for him to have his mother think a thought. It would be very difficult for him to think his own thought. This is what we would say as being in the valence of his mother.

Now take a look at how many Scientologists out there who are interiorized into the universe of L. Ron Hubbard! Interesting, eh!

It would be fun if a Scientologist runs PAB 56 and 54 processes with LRH as the terminal. Try the following process using KHTK approach.

F-1 “What wouldn’t LRH mind you communicating with?”
F-2 “What wouldn’t you mind LRH communicating with?”
F-3 “What wouldn’t others mind LRH communicating with?”
F-0 “If you were LRH what wouldn’t you mind yourself communicating with?”

Simply think of a command and then look at what comes up in the mind. DO NOT COMPUTE UPON WHAT COMES UP. DO NOT RESIST ANY RESPONSE. END OFF WHEN THE ATTENTION IS OPTIMUM.

KHTK #4 Session

I just gave myself a KHTK#4 session with the subject matter of "Bodies." It was quite interesting. I was not looking for anything in particular. I was more interested in looking at what is already there in my mind.

I decided to do the session while I was on the treadmill at home. I set the pace at a comfortable 2.5 mph. I put my attention on the subject of "bodies" and simply start looking without thinking.

At first my attention start to scan the whole body, feeling it as it scanned. I didn't resist anything. I felt whatever sensations were there, or as and when they came up. I just let my attention wander on its own, alertly looking at whatever came up.

Soon I was looking at experiences my body went through in my childhood. This whole life my body has not been a comfortable place to be. Since the age of 17 it has suffered from Ankylosing Spondilitis. I suddenly realized that I have been looking through the filter of this continuously present disability. This disability was not there when I was a child. In my childhood the body was simply a joy to have.

Anyway, with that filter gone I continued to look at the subject of "bodies." My attention went around scanning my body again experiencing whatever sensations were present. Memories came up of this mansion in which I grew up. There were some rooms that were permanently closed. I remember peeking inside some of them on the few occasions they were opened. There was junk and old furniture in them covered with thick layer of dust.

As I put my attention on these part of the mansion looking at the occasions when I was in the vicinity of those areas all alone, I felt the sensation of hair rising on my body. I have always had that sensation in the past too. But this time I decided to simply experience it without resisting. Lot of pictures came up... nothing spectacular... but the sensation around my body kept on changing. Finally, it settled on my temples on either side of the head. Then after a while it shifted to my face. This was new. I could feel a lot of attention concentrated on my face. I just kept on feeling it without resisting.

Anyway, I ended off the session after about 50 minutes. I shall continue it later.

Very nicely done. The purity of it strikes me as somehow being invaluable all by itself. That is to say the purity in your sharing of it with us.

I also did the KHTK #4 session. I intentionally/consciously did it twice. The first time was in the context/background of silence, the 2nd time in the context/background of music. The music was selected specifically for the process. I choose a piece by one of my most admired composers (which may have produced a biased result I understand, in hindsight).

The thing I experienced most distinctly between the two sessions was the relationship between the presence and absence of thought, relative to the subject I was addressing, i.e. bodies, relative to the music vs the silence. Which is to say where music was the background, my mental or intellectual or thought focus on bodies was seemingly hindered. And conversely where silence was the background the subject of bodies, mentally, was magnified. So to speak. If this is meaningful I do not yet know.

In both instances I came away with a distinct feeling of expansion. In the first case I could articulate it (to myself) while in the second I could not. Maybe the first was real and the second imaginary. I don't know.

Both sessions ended after 15 minutes, individually (which I pre-arranged with a timer to be sure).
