L. Ron Hubbard as Little Lord Fauntleroy

Remember when Tony Ortega of the Village Voice posted L. Ron as the #1 Person Crippling Scientology?

Effectively pinning the tale on the donkey he also included a response link from Marty Rathbun's blog as An Open Letter to Tony Ortega and here's what Marty has to say in his first two paragraphs:

Notwithstanding your prediction, you won’t hear any howls from me Tony. Only a long sigh of disappointment.

You start out your opus on L Ron Hubbard with an interesting incongruity: the Village Voice sanctimoniously talking down on somebody for being “a bigamist” and an “occult dabbler.” Really? Who do you expect to stand out of line and swim against the current at the height of the Cold War, McCarthyism, and state sponsored institutional psychiatry? The monogamous, obeying, church-going Ozzie Nelson? I would think the Village Voice of all fairly influential publications would understand this: If you want to find someone to step outside the box and question the manner in which humankind has been doing business for thousands of years don’t call on Little Lord Fauntelroy.

Now, never mind all that Hubbard talk about execs not being posted or removed from post if they have black-mailable pasts and such, let's just follow the logic that this open letter follows.

Apparently, we're supposed to understand that it takes a corrupt con man to understand and discover the secrets of the universe and unravel the spiritual nature of man...apparently because, well, because of the Cold War, McCarthyism, and state sponsored institutional psychiatry...even though, apparently, L. Ron Hubbard spent hours of lectures, policy and bulletins that one must be ethical to withstand and win over these very same things and demanded rigorous security checks to do so - oh, wait, Ron did do that little number of rising above the bank, thereby exonerating himself from the need to worry about such trivialities as the overt/motivator sequence and the missed withhold and stuff.

In contrast and by tradition we can look at other supposedly enlightened individuals and spiritually minded leaders that discovered secrets.

Of note are people like Jesus of Nazareth, the Buddha, Socrates and ideological leaders like Gandhi. In each example we can see individuals who yearn towards ethical perfection by denying physical temptations.

Jesus was tempted by Satan and passed up getting everything one would want at a base-physical level, the Buddha was already a rich and pampered prince to inherit a kingdom and he walked away from it, Socrates stated the wise man (aka philosopher) seeks death - meaning that the spirit should "know" and the base-physical body detracts/dev-ts this endeavor by needing sleep, food, sex, stimuli, emotion, etc.; therefore, by seeking death one is allowed to escape that trap of the body and its desires and be free to seek knowledge. Gandhi was certainly able to step outside the box and question the manner in which humankind was doing business, despite all invitations to do otherwise and react with like kind and give as he got.

Even L. Ron Hubbard would lead us to believe that pursuing an ethical existence by denying the base-physical body urges is the way to go and, thereby, implying that L. Ron Hubbard has even done so.

We know this by many written examples and recorded lectures of which to sample just one example by looking at PAB 15, Professional Auditor's Bulleting circa mid-December 1953 titled ACCEPTANCE LEVEL PROCESSING, here's the first two paragraphs of said PAB:

Man is a duplicity. He is at once a body and a spirit. The personality which we know as the individual is a spirit by its contagion with the body. The body, as a very small amount of processing will demonstrate, is not the personality or the being, but a used thing.

The body is a very craven and degraded thing in an unprocessed state and rather rapidly debases its spirit, so that when one first begins this process of Acceptance Level, it would seem to him that he, as the spirit, is actually at the level where he finds himself. True enough, he conducts his affairs at the level of the body , not at the level of the spirit. But the spirit can be freed, decontaminated, and the body itself, by this process, can be healed of its depraved thirsts and hungers so that it becomes almost fit company for a spirit.

Beautiful and very wise and exemplar of L. Ron Hubbard that certainly falls in line with his Sea Org requirements, the very group "putting ethics in on the planet", his advices like The Way to Happiness and so on and so forth. You know...all that yap and talk about ethics and morals and "clean hands make a happy life" and all that.

That seems to contradict Marty Rathbun's conclusion.

Certainly the youngest Eagle Scout would have some sense of decency? What about all those merit badges? Wouldn't the Blood Brother of the Black Feet have some sense of honor? How about a decorated Naval hero of WW II with no less than 20-some medals? How about the author that states the liar is inevitably a coward and the coward is inevitably a liar? How about all of those upstanding and debonair photographs taken? How about a professional in all he does - wouldn't that guy know about being honest and straight?

Doesn't that kind of trounce Rathbun's idea that a sordid crim personality would be necessary to "step outside the box"? I thought overts and lies made one stupid? Wouldn't you need to be clean and smart to figure things out?

However, here's some things I've noticed about L. Ron Hubbard and it certainly doesn't fit Little Lord Fauntleroy.

...from here:

I think one of the best ways to see a man's flaws is to not listen to his words but pay attention to his actions.

How did Ron act with his 1st wife?

How did Ron act with his 2nd wife?

How did Ron act with his 3rd wife?

At least with the 1st two he cheated on them and told them lies...sneaking around behind their backs. With the last one he sent her to jail while she was following his sneaky instruction.

He was a sneaking out on his benefactor Parsons by stealing his money and mistress in a confidence trick.

He sneaked out the Brainwashing Manual as a ploy to deceive.

He sneaked out support from the VA by claiming benefits.

He originated operation Freak Out to sneak up and attack Paulette Cooper in a Fabian way.

He originated operation Snow White to sneak into the gov't and whitewash his files.

He came up with the idea to sneak into Clearwater under a guise to keep the public unsuspecting.

He came up with various ways to sneak Scientology into secular settings while maintaining his copyrights - ABLE, WISE, Narconon, Criminon.

He sneaked a public sponsored attack on psychiatry - CCHR and note that it doesn't much take up any Human Rights violations unless it can attack psychiatry.

He sneaked past the government by claiming tax exemption as a church - prior to this Scientology, by and in its own scripture, was NOT religious.

He sneaked past government regulation of auditors by claiming to be a church.

He sneaked past government access to patient/penitent privilege with the church angle.

He sneaked into PR the acceptable truth.

He sneaked into Scientology the idea that he was a war hero.

He attempted to sneak the FBI and others onto his "enemies" by writing letters accusing them of being Nazi spies, Commie spies, etc.

He sneaked litigation into the court systems not to render justice but to harass and stress out his "enemies".

He sneaked a fake college degree to sneak credibility to his status and claims.

He sneaked it away by "denouncing" the degree as science has only brought war and strife once it leaked out that it was a worthless paper mill diploma.

He snuck out to sea and international waters to avoid scrutiny.

He snuck into hiding and remained there until he died to avoid indictment.

After all this - how honest of an approach do you think he had with parishioners/consumers of Scientology?

Here's something interesting to read and merely ask yourself if this is a factual or a fallacious representation.

http://paulsrabbit.com/levine.pdf

Is that an honest way to deal with parishioners and staff? Ask yourself how this monstrosity sneaks behind a cloud of squid ink and does this - who designed that?

How many policy letters, lectures, bulletins does he come out and say "I have always printed the truth - even when that truth was unpopular", "I have never lied to you", "I have never misled you", "I have never told you what to think", "I have never tried to control your actions", "this is the factual history of man", stuff like that?

I personally believe that every step he took was to portray himself in the greatest limelight by sneaky methods - the absolute accelerated way he gained merit badges in the scouts shows this...they're supposed to be earned on "merit" with demonstrable skill and he plunks them out in so many days. How honestly were they earned? Probably achieved by sneaking and dishonesty - certainly suspect at any rate due in large to his adult life actions.

I think a clear pattern of conduct is consistent throughout his actions from early on.

...and from here:

Ron Hubbard on the 1st D - lies and cheats everywhere...even when the truth could serve...smokes Kools...hoarding runaway cash per Nibs per Mayo, et al...defrauds...Mystic states he rockslams on "unlimited wealth"...takes drugs his whole life...dresses up as a gay Cecil Rhodes complete with lip rouge...had rotten teeth...was obese and out of shape...dies after multiple strokes and Vistaril. Hiding out in a secret location.

Ron Hubbard on the 2nd D - lies and cheats everywhere...ditches Polly and the kids...gives his kids drugs...runs off with a sex-orgy tramp and marries her while committing bigomy no less...kidnaps his own child...later disowns said child...cheats on this one...walks the aisle with a preggers Mary Sue...cheats on her and knocks up some other gal...Quentin fiasco...Mary Sue going to prison as the Wicked Witch of the Guardians Office...the lot of women is fornication and it doesn't bother him to see a virgin get raped...Satanic cult orgies to create anti-Christ Moonchildren...policy that all kids are psycho, etc. Hiding out in a secret location.

Ron Hubbard on the 3rd D - lies and cheats everywhere...bankrupts multiple Dianetics enterprises and runs in secret operatives to sink others...defrauds the VA for benefits...exemplar military record even finding a saboteur's bomb and shelling Mexico...his "friendship" in the Parson's Satanic cult...staff conditions and staff pay...turning on his own Missions...disconnection policy...PTS/SP declares...those wonderful Green Vols and nifty organizations like the Sea Org, GO, OSA, CMO, etc. - this guy was quite a group member. Hiding out in a secret location.

Ron Hubbard on the 4th D - lies and cheats everywhere...Mankind's Greatest Friend...All Men Are His Slaves...his advice and use of the legal system...PR tech...the chosen way to sneak into Florida...multiple lectures about setting up Purity Leagues and infiltrating society...making friends in every port of call with the Apollo and the sanity it portrays...supporting Apartheid...investigated in every court system on the globe, etc. - a real up and up guy. Hiding out in a secret location.

5th and 6th I don't know about but if it's anything like the others then he's below Treason on 'em.

Ron Hubbard on the 7th - lies and cheats everywhere...copyrighting everyone else's material and calling it his own...Satanic cults and Affirmations...the whole Magick thing with him as the Source-rer...those wonderful professional photographs...Power of Source and The Road to Freedom albums...you get the idea...and, of course, Hiding out in a secret location.

Ron Hubbard on the 8th - Nibs said he claimed to be the Beast!

This guy extorts and manipulates on everything at all times while spraying squid ink to remain Fabian and invisible. It's in his very nature to be complicit and duplicitous and that's what he was even with the tech.

I also recall in multiple areas as in lectures and writings that the modus operendi of the body is to NOT work, as in NOT contribute but be contributed to.

Some other things I've read or heard from Ron Hubbard is that an SP will deny Be, Do, Have while, simultaneously, enforcing Be, Do, Have.

So that works like this.

L. Ron to his self would feast on adoration, admiration, lies, have others carry around his ash tray as in having slaves, drugs and booze and sex and wealth - he would absolutely gorge on this stuff while prohibiting and denying these very things to others, enforcing things like lower conditions, the RPF and such - ever try to live on staff pay? Talk about exchange by dynamics - HA! HA!

L. Ron splurged on himself and his family by practicing nepotism and such, certainly taking any and all 2D time he wanted, carried out his sordid affairs and sexual cravings and antics - all the while denying and prohibiting these very things to others and enforcing celibacy, abortions, CSWs, 1 afternoon per week of "free time", etc.

L. Ron had unlimited access to food and travel and sleep and luxury, playing sailor - all the while prohibiting and denying these very things to others and enforcing things like beans and rice - what a gas.

L. Ron indulged his dabblings into "art" with photography, recordings, cine, writing - all the while denying and prohibiting these very things to others - ever read Sea Org recruitment policies regarding artists? Let's just say it's a little bit different than all that glory written in Science of Survival about the role of the "artist" and such.

Hubbard's enterprises owned vast properties without paying property taxes, without paying employee wages or benefits, without paying income tax.

L. Ron practiced wholesale uninhibited indulgence to his various bodily and physical cravings, all the while convincing the flock that he was doing just the opposite and sacrificing for the betterment of theta and all that.

L. Ron Hubbard didn't work but he definitely played with boats, cars and motorcycles while copyrighting others' work.

L. Ron was the pig of pigs and the swine of swine.

Here's a poster of Little Lord Fauntleroy.

Awesome write up guanoloco
If he hadn't been so competent at masturbating spells , maybe we could have observed him violating us.

Fabulous post - one to read and re-read.

L Ron Hubbard: A conman who created a cult to make a fortune.

LRH: What Hubbard wanted people to believe he was, and what people needed him to be.

Hubbard is the liar, and 'LRH' is the lie.

Nice post. The Martyologists try to sidestep Hubbard's failings by acknowledging him as "flawed" while still pretending that his intentions were noble and that while he had some personal foibles it doesn't undermine the tech. As if somehow someone could be dishonest in virtually every aspect of their life but be credible when they make unsupported claims of scientific proof.

If you read Gandhi's autobiography, which is called "The Story of My Experiments With Truth", he is his own harshest critic and is constantly testing and re-examining everything he believes. He never reaches a point where he claims any kind of enlightenment.

And yet Gandhi faced much greater (non-imaginary) opposition than Hubbard and achieved much more.

What's an OL?

Scientologese for "Opinion Leader" - OLs can sway public opinion and are looked at as leaders in the field. People like Face that have first-hand knowledge and experience go miles and miles in influencing my understanding of Scientology and Hubbub; therefore, an OL.

Remember all those E. F. Hutton commercials in the 80s? "When E. F. Hutton talks, people listen." Same goes for those on ESMB that have seen it, done it.

This is really playing to the bleachers, and not arguing. But as argument it's at least a competent exercise in plastering over a gaping fallacy with smooth rhetoric.

It's a crude straw man. Nobody is actually complaining that Hubbard failed to be a Fauntelroy. Nobody is blaming Hubbard just for being something less than a paragon of 1950's virtue. It is not that anyone is accusing Hubbard of the sorts of irrelevant flaws and faults that many great discoverers have possessed.

Hubbard lied about almost all of his achievements. He literally claimed medals to which he had no right. He boasted falsely of honors that better men risked their lives to earn — or gave their lives to earn. Above all, he lied grossly about the precise thing that Scientologists uphold as his overriding achievement: the efficacy of his Scientology 'tech'.

If you want to find someone to step outside the box and question the manner in which humankind has been doing business for thousands of years, perhaps indeed you don’t call on Little Lord Fauntelroy.

You don't call on a liar, either.

I thought about this some more and realized something. It's a good thing for the internet and the various researchers over time because they've collectively been able to pierce the veil of Hubbard. Had this NOT been done then he certainly would've appeared as Little Lord Fauntleroy.

However, with the curtain pulled back to reveal a veritable graveyard in the closet this view of Hubbard 100% exactly matches and mirrors the Scientology set up of image versus substance.

Here we have the appearance of a benevolent spiritual healer/leader as the image that is pushed and the actual substance is a criminal hoax conspirator.

Another thing that is interesting is a parallel with Hitler's bodyguards and, say, the bodyguards of Churchill. Hitler had regiments, departments and posts dedicated to his safety. Churchill, to my knowledge, had the minimal to none.

The similar thing is the PR machine for Hubbard and, say, the PR efforts for someone like Einstein. Hubbard has divisions, departments, orgs and posts dedicated to his image whose entire stats are monitoring pages of favorable press, etc., and Einstein, to my knowledge, didn't even have a press manager.

Churchill could walk around with impunity surrounded by love while Hitler, with all of his manpower devoted to safety, suffered multiple attempts on his life by his own "loyal" followers and was despised globally.

Einstein will decorate history as a shining example of human brilliance while Hubbard, with and despite all of his manpower devoted to his image, will be relegated to the gutter trash heap as the mendacious and prevaricating dung he was.

Actual-ist ~his demoniacal Malevolence couldn't be concealed

Apolog-ist~He was an man who despite 50,000 hours of auditing still had a few aberrations on his case whilst on post.

Benevolent ~Gods Love, humanity, toleration, treat well, acts of kindness, tender~

Malevolent~ wreak ones malice on, persecution, malign, venom, spiteful, harass, evil eye, ruthless~

Tony Ortega of the Village Voice posted L. Ron as the #1 Person Crippling Scientology?”

I could not agree more with this statement. Hubbard wrote a screenplay, Revolt in the Stars, where he openly talked about Xenu (the screenplay was a dud, not a single movie production company was interested in it). All crazy “confidential” OT 3 data was in plain view, which turned many potential Scientologists away from the cult. This release of the screenplay shows that Hubbard was a complete idiot unable to understand the consequences of his actions.
After reading the screenplay I concluded that Hubbard was either a crook or completely insane, and left CoS for good.
