Thank you! I just wrote it up to post this and lost it! Thanks DB!

More articles coming in all over...here is the link to the first interview with Buzz Feed that has a ton of goodies for us to discuss!

http://www.buzzfeed.com/jarettwieselman/leah-remini-shares-the-truth-about-the-hardest-year-of-her-l

Saving her daughter from being audited at age 9!
While Remini insists there were dozens of influencing factors fueling her decision to exit the notoriously controlling Church, none were more persuasive than her 9-year-old daughter, Sofia.
“She was getting to the age where the acclimation into the Church would have to start,” Remini revealed of the process, which begins with auditing. It includes having children answer questions like, Have you ever pretended to be ill? Have you ever decided you didn’t like some member of your family? Have you ever been a coward?

Signing a Billion Year at age 10 while living with roaches!
“We went from a middle-class lifestyle [in Brooklyn, N.Y.] to living in a roach-infested motel with six other girls off a freeway in Clearwater,” Remini recalled of her family’s transition to the Church’s compound in Florida, before her 10th birthday. “We were separated from our mother. We had to sign billion-year contracts we didn’t understand. And we kept saying, ‘Why are you doing this to us? Why are we here?’”

Keeping your place in the church? Does this mean status?
There’s a lot of work required to retain your place in the Church.”

Lots to discuss here! And echo articles are coming in like crazy!

nother woman in her life who has offered guidance and support since she renounced the church is best friend Jennifer Lopez.

"Jennifer made special rings for all the women in her life that say, 'I Love Me,' " she shares. "I've really come to realize you have to love yourself before you can expect someone else to. You have to learn to believe you deserve love. And I'm getting there. I'm starting to believe it."

So, we can expect J.Lo's SP declare to be forthcoming too. Wonder if her parents will blow or disconnect from J.Lo???

this doesn't sound like going up the bridge.. I wonder if this is about cliques and witchhunts ala Queen Jenna Elfman deciding you are not upstat enough?

It is INCREDIBLE that she talks about auditing children! BRAVO Leah! And to give examples of the questions..FANTASTIC!! This will be repeated over and over and any subsequent interviews asked about again & again!! Eat it Scientology! No hiding your abuse of defenseless children now!

Re: Leah Remini left scientology for her daugher's sake - Co$ Responds...

UPDATE: Co$/scientology responds:

(My bold/underline below.)

Update, 3:30 p.m. Feb. 27:
The Church of Scientology responded Thursday afternoon to Remini's comments.
"It comes as no surprise that someone as self-absorbed as Leah Remini with an insatiable craving for attention would exploit her former faith as a publicity stunt by rewriting her history with it, including omitting that she was participating in a program to remain a Scientologist by her own choice, as she was on the verge of being expelled for her ethical lapses," the church said in a statement.

Looks like they've finished going through the auditing files and are getting ready to "leak" stuff.

Great!

I'm hope we're all checking to see which sites post the response and which sites don't.
(Right now, only the LA Times has added the Co$ response.)

During the last few weeks, here's what's been aimed @ the public-at-large:

Vanity Fair's 'Where's Shelly?' article + BuzzFeed's Leah Remini interview.
Co$ countered with Travolta's story about how Co$ helped him w/his grief + NFL commercials + buying a 24-hour YouTube ad banner.

I think Co$ is losing the contest for control of public opinion quite badly.

It'd sure help things along if TVLand's "Kirstie" show doesn't get renewed for a 2nd season.

What an incredible distinction the crime syndicate called Scientology makes.

Leah Remini is not an "unemployed blogger on the fringe of the internet",

nor is she a "defrocked apostate."

Instead, she "was on the verge of being expelled for her ethical lapses."

You almost have to admire them for sheer chutzpah and mendacity.

Scientology is shameless.

Remini realized that she needed to protect her daughter from a dangerous cult.

Katie Holmes had the same realization.

As parents, we have a sacred obligation to protect our children.

I wish more Scientologists had that cognition.

May the Grace of the Universe be with You, Leah Remini.

You did the right for your child and I know it took guts, guile and gumption.

If more Scn Parents had had your gravitas, grace and good sense over the last 40 years Scn would have collapsed by now and the vile exploitation of children would be over.

Peace Be With You, Leah. :heartflower:

Us Weekly now has the story updated stating that they got the "exclusive" on the Co$ response.

Best part?

US Weekly does not provide the name of the Co$ spokesrep! :hysterical:

So that's two sites that published the Co$ response thus far - LA Times & USWeekly.

You have to wonder if the "unnamed spokesman" was lying in a tanning bed, guzzling single malt Scotch.
