Thanks Gib.Yes, you are right it is a Telefunken 12 AX 7. My Pilot has two 12AX7 and one 12Au7...all Telefunken.
I really have to study up on tubes. There is soooo much to know...as you pointed out. Some of the vintage brands/models are very sought after and bring good money.
Years ago, I parted out a vintage Telefunken tube radio....with tubes...and was shocked at the price it brought on Ebay. Now I know better. It is the rare tubes. Plus the old out-put transformers are worth a nice piece of change too.
"Tube rolling" is something that the audio guys and girls love to take about. (switching different brands of tubes to see if they like the sound better or not.)
Yea, I've done a bit of capacitor upgrading....and understand what you are saying.
Yea, old Western Electric Audio gear brings a fortune on the auction sites.
I like "Bugle Boy" tubes from Holland....and Mullard's from England.
you got it.

It's how I make my living. It's partially how I figured out Hubbards con which is add the significant before somebody else does, which is creating a perceived monopoly. If you tell somebody what it is worth, they will buy it, depends on one's market, like telling the able they become more able by buying scientology. Why deal with low income people? Clear the planet, a shore story. LOL
