Thanks Gib. :) Yes, you are right it is a Telefunken 12 AX 7. My Pilot has two 12AX7 and one 12Au7...all Telefunken.

I really have to study up on tubes. There is soooo much to know...as you pointed out. Some of the vintage brands/models are very sought after and bring good money.

Years ago, I parted out a vintage Telefunken tube radio....with tubes...and was shocked at the price it brought on Ebay. Now I know better. It is the rare tubes. Plus the old out-put transformers are worth a nice piece of change too.

"Tube rolling" is something that the audio guys and girls love to take about. (switching different brands of tubes to see if they like the sound better or not.)

Yea, I've done a bit of capacitor upgrading....and understand what you are saying.

Yea, old Western Electric Audio gear brings a fortune on the auction sites.

I like "Bugle Boy" tubes from Holland....and Mullard's from England.

you got it.

It's how I make my living. It's partially how I figured out Hubbards con which is add the significant before somebody else does, which is creating a perceived monopoly. If you tell somebody what it is worth, they will buy it, depends on one's market, like telling the able they become more able by buying scientology. Why deal with low income people? Clear the planet, a shore story. LOL

Thanks again. I had no idea the Telefunkens were that valuable....WOW.

I've got a lot of tubes...and amps in boxes...Someday I'll get them all organized....and restore some of them.

yes, I posted a reply to you several months ago about this website:

http://www.audiotubes.com/

And here's another:

https://www.tubeworld.com/index_high.htm

To find out about tube values money wise and compare to selling on Ebay.

You can find a Pilot Amp like you pictured and buy it for $200 and if you know about the tubes in it, why you can then sell the tubes separately for a few hundred and then have essentially bought the amp for free. Hidden treasures.

That's the power of Ebay if one knows what they are doing.

Thanks for the links. I've book marked them. I have been so busy, working on the house...don't really have time to set up my amp repair space.

I've got a lot to learn about tubes. I do know quite a bit about these 232 Pilot amps. ( and 210 Pilot PreAmps) They go for around 400 to 600...non working...and 700 to 1100 working. One NIB/ NOS sold on the bay a few months ago for $2100! They are quite sought after....and highly regarded in the "console" tube amp niche. Plus they sound great.

Years ago, I picked up a whole Pilot console off Craigs in DC for $100....and like you say, made a lot of money parting out the 232 Amp and 210 Pre-Amp on ebay...

DC and Northern Va....was a great location to pick up vintage Hi Fi gear.....I made some great finds...:)

I have not had such luck there in the Tampa area...

One time in N. Va.....I got a pair of Fisher "the 100" mono block amps...made in 1957. They had been stored in a wet basement....They were rusty and I didn't want to restore them. Each had a pair of Mullard EL37...worth about $100 each. I sold those and then sold the amps to a guy in Sweden...."who had always wanted a pair." Now I realize I may have sold too cheap....as they are a very rare amplifier. But that is part of the game....live and learn. :)

AOLA sometime between 1983 and 1987....there was a NoN-SO OT III C/S. I remember Ann Rollins....she was my SO OT III C/S. Anyway, this non OT 3 C/S was a guy...if I recall...tall and lanky.

He was off loaded from AO because?.......perhaps because he wasn't SO.

He took a job or was given a job....selling gold necklaces...and chains.

The rumor I heard...shortly there after was that he was murdered in a robbery of his stock. ( in a bad neighborhood....)

(Fred Silverman might have something to do with this story....? He was SO at AOLA at the time....he might have arranged the job?)

I'd appreciate it if anyone on ESMB could fill in a name....and what happened.

Thanks.

Sounds like Russia is getting aggressive with the Ukraine again.

?Russia playing cat and mouse?

It really pisses me off that with what Hi-tech satellites and such, this information can't be firmed up. That it can be reported with certainty that x number of tanks crossed a border...or something like that....

Or that troops are moving on trains to the border areas of Ukraine.....

I am sick of this bullshit .....of guessing....and he said she said....

I've said a few time here, that IMO there is a "secret" cult inside of Scientology.

What follows is not what I mean by that....but it did occur to me that the Cult is set up like an Intelligence/Military apparatus....

Compartmentalized....Need to know basis.....

And....Ethics only flows DOWN (someone here posted that recently....and it really hit me.)

And any objections dealt with severely......ie. BACKFLASH.....

But more to the point...what is an "OT Level" but initiation into a secret cult level?

Scientologists always have to state their "case" level when meeting each other....and "where" they are on the Bridge. (at least this is my experience was as a Public...perhaps some former SO can say something to this point.)

Though all the OT levels are suppose to be secret....none are today....

Could the fact that all the OT Levels are on the net....have something to do with the Cults shifting gears and emphasising the IAS...and using money to buy building/real estate?

Could this CRUSH REGGING for IAS donations.....be because the Cult knows that many will leave the Cult at some point in the future....so "turn em and burn em" now now now?

The Internet has totally changed the game for the Cult.....how are they coping with that fact.......by walling off the members/staff that they have left more and more and more....

More lies...about the dangers of ANY outside reading/associations/information.

The "ultimate" Secret Cult level is now "OT 8"....(even though several variations of that level have been on the Internet for years.)

I looked for a "fun with reg's" thread but couldn't find one so I post this here as a general default repository bin for good ideas.
I came up with an awesome handling for annoying phone calls in general.
What I do is this:
If you call me with annoying calls I put you on my "Needs Scientology List" that is under my Xfinity "Selective Call Forwarding" under the voice mail menu.
Most numbers on the list, by far, are various reg's from the various $cilon Morgues.
What happens is that reg's end up getting forwarded to the default $cilon number I use - 323-888-6200, and end up calling other reg's instead of me.
Did you know that these business phone systems package blocks of numbers for the subscriber? In other words 323-888-6233 will get you someone else, "uplines" from their 6200 general number, all within their network!
So reg's call other reg's asking for me, how awesome!
Assholes in general get added to my growing list end up calling Scientology and asking for me.
Step into my lair!
Now Scientology ends up with each of them on their "New Contact List" as it's their number that shows on the cult's caller ID and thus begins their very own misadventures of getting $cilon "Resistrars" calling them instead of me at all hours!

Important!!!
Anyone got any better numbers for me to use, as in WAY up lines?

^^^^^^^

What a sublime and utterly fantastic idea.

No Cult reg has called me in over 13 years.....its a shame I can't use this brilliant idea.

The question that remains is, though by whatever means of trickery and chicanery I've hand delivered possible future $cilons to their doorstep, all wrapped & swaddling as they may be, do I not qualify as their FSM should any of them become converts?

Leland, I think it was you who wrote that your Dad, or Granddad, was a part of the Berlin Airlift.
I just read an extremely interesting novel by Leon Uris, called "Armageddon, a Story of Berlin", which describes in detail the courage and integrity of those brave men who flew in that Airlift. Also, explanations of the "sectioning off" of Berlin between the Americans and Russians and the German people.
It is well worth the read. Fascinating.

A recent new poster here stated that at Flag for SO training...they took away her cell phone and computer.

If all new SO recruits have their electronic communication devices taken away......then at what point in an SO's career can they get them back?

Perhaps someone here can post something about that?

At what points in SO training or indoctrination....are "some" liberties/ given? And what might those liberties be?

In other words.....how long is the leash?

Also, who in the chain of Command, holds the leash....and how do those IC (in charge) "control" others....and train them?

What are the basic SO courses that indoctrinate one.

But more importantly......how do those IC act....and rely their authority to the lower on the pole newbies....?
