IMHO, what's added into the mix, is how it's drilled into you that $cn is humanity's only hope. That if you leave, you will die and die and die a million deaths. It's worse than the hell that Christians threaten you with if you don't toe the line. So, when you're out there trying to get a job, get an apartment, pull a life together, a part of you is convinced that you've killed your spiritual future, so what does it matter? It takes quite some time to shake that off.
Yep. Installed phobias - on steroids. The cult of scientology installs terror into the true believer. So many phobias are drilled in - we should make a list one day.
Yes, it does take time to shake that one off - but once you do, you have really broken through the invisible chains, or the prison of belief, or as I call it, the tunnel of mind control. Then you can begin to really sort out your own thoughts, feelings and behaviour in life. Keep having sneaky thoughts that scientology has something decent to offer, that it might be the planets only salvation, or that it is a road to total freedom, and you remain in the mental prison.
