Yes, I realize that part of my own mental trap (and I suspect it is this way with others) is that the words and the ideals of Scientology carried more weight than what I actually observed. It's the biggest mindf#@k ever because you know, in the back of your head, that "what's true for you is true for you."
You are trained to "obnose", to see exactly and only what is there. Ridiculous. It's like a cruel sadistic joke that while you're in the academy training, absorbing the scriptures, the management, staff, and public as a whole are doing not just different, but completely opposite activities while saying and believing they are doing what it says in the books. It's the weirdest thing. NO ONE sees and then says exactly what is going on. They stay firmly in the hive while all the while thinking they are the most free beings on the planet. Talk about mind control.
It's like joining the Arctic Ice Brigade. You learn about the cold and how to deal with it, to dress for it, etc. Then, they take you out in the desert and tell you how cold it is while your sweating your ass off. You know you should be feeling cold, I mean you joined the Arctic Ice Brigade for goodness sake!
I vow to NEVER fall for something like this ever again. I feel much smarter now.
