Hey Guys,
One of my bitches about CO$ is the money. Philosophy, Spirituality, Religion - all should be free. Conventions, well, okay.... maybe not! But us poor students don't have a lot of cash to throw around. I know I will NEVER get the straight story from scilons. But maybe I could get the real deal from you guys. As it stands now, its all a bunch a hooey and you guis are still brain-washed. WTF when does the light bulb go off? Or when can you prove it works? Ain't evah gonna pay for it.

Yah. MSG causes break-outs on my butt. I can tolerate a teeny amount of it.
But my friends in LA tell me that wildfires are still burning North of the City. I can only imagine what the air is like in Pasadena. It's bad enuff on a good, clear day but with all that smoke settling over the LA Basin, the threat of sinus infections are quite likely for those of us who are accustomed to breathing (relatively) clean air.

Sure. Right after you persuade every other person and entity in the world who rents a convention hall or conference room to hold a public or semi public event not to charge a dime for it.

I'm a member of a mortgage association. I've also gone to home shows, gardening shows, women's shows, anime cons, sci fi cons- and I didn't get in free to ANY of them. All charge admission.
But I see where you're going with this. You don't care if someone charges for putting on a convention at a (rented at huge expense) hall or hotel-- what you really wanted to do was come fuck with everyone who's interested in Scn outside CofS and tell them from your own sense of personal insecuri-- oops, I mean superiority- how wrong they are.

Many conventions offer a day pass...for locals with limited time or others who do not wish to attend the entire convention.
Perhaps the convention organizers might consider doing this, charge a lower admission fee on a daily basis, for those who just want to come and socialize on a single day, attend a specific event, hear a specific speaker, etc., but do not wish to stay the entire weekend, attend each day, and pay for the entire conference. This option allows for more inclusion.
It's just a suggestion.

I really wish I was coming but I am not going to risk the MSG. I get sick just going to my home state which is not far from me.
I don't smoke so I probably could have problems with it. I been there so I know how the smog can get. I never seen purple night skies till I been in LA. I liked it very much there though but I think fires might be worse than hurricanes.

It does not appear that formal food is being offered, but I might be wrong.

There is a Whole Foods a few blocks down on the same street as I recall.
The smoke from the fire is essentially gone, although I'm not in Pasadena.
It was clear for my walk tonight.
The fire will be all out before the event,
the OT In-Charge has been able to guarantee that !
One could check the weather patterns close to the occasion.
In L.A. wind from the ocean makes for good air quality, from the desert, not so good.
Pasadena is over in a valley that is not quite as good as some areas though.
October can be very hot or mild.

A convention for the 2nd tier Sci salesmen? Sure they should charge admission. Hopefully the price will be as high as one could expect to receive paying customers for.
