In the past, I've said that the workplace and relationship with coworkers is almost like an arranged marriage. Interesting relationships and interplay are established, etc.
Surely this is quite true of discussion forums. Your post was lighthearted but I'll get serious for a minute, if that's ok. On this forum, we've rallied to each other's aid with real concrete assistance- money, labor and advice and moral support. On other forums, I've met friends (from alt.religion.scientology and OCMB) and had them in my home, met them IRL in other places and love them as much as anyone I met anywhere else and made friends with.
Ok, end of seriousness. We're family and some of us (probably me, for one) are like one's eccentric Aunt Gertrude whom everyone cares about but makes allowances for her wackiness...

I'm all in favour of meeting face to face, being somewhat sociable.
As well as attending protests regularly with anon, I've met and had good times with quite a few critics, notably Karen Spaink, Zenon Parnousis, and Mick Wenlock to name a few. We may not share views on the subject of scientology, but we share the wish to end abuses connected with COS.
I've met Terril. He's an absolute sweetie. I would also love to meet Geir.

SPIRITUAL LEADER: He may not have officially posted himself as such, but the way he stands in front of the light source (hubbard/scn) causes the shadows he casts. So, it is pretty safe to conclude that it's not an accident/coincidence that people regard him as such. (By way of example, I noticed that nobody is emailing me with praise about leading the new on-source Independent Bridge.)

I agree that there seems to be a growing number of Scientologists who view him as a leader and so I guess this makes him a de facto leader. I suppose that people naturally want a leader to rally round in times of crises. I think that Marty sees himself more as a ‘target’, absorbing much of the wrath of the CoS and deflecting attention away from others so that they can do their work unmolested.
Absolutely! Honesty is something that I want to see from those who want to be forgiven. People will more readily respect someone who has the guts to stand up and admit that they were wrong and be honest about what they did. And they will probably feel a lot better about themselves as well.
I wish the world was simple too. But let’s not forget that the CoS has been playing their games of deceit, lies and manipulation for a long time. They have colossal financial reserves and are all too willing to use it in any way they can to achieve their aims. I fully expect to see some results in the not too distant future.
But we will still have plenty of other irons in the fire.

And, yes, they're another stupid cult, but, they're smarter than Scn in that they only really harass their own staff and their version of taking over the world only requires them to get 1% TMers; not actually *take it fucking Over*.
But, yeah, they can be almost as bizarre as Scn in the secret dogma, they're money grubbing (but, still, cheaper than Scn) and in the inner circles are also abusive. Not quite Sea Org abusive, but, unpleasant.

"OT abilities" are the same things as psychic abilities, saintly manifestations, divine powers, shamanistic powers, magical powers. Scn does not have a monopoly on attempting to achieve or obtain such. It's just trying to do what people have been aware of- and have been sporadically achieving- for millennia.

I'm not fully aware of Marty's attacks on those who disagree with SCN and LRH. Did see his left wing right wing thing. Thought it somewhat irrelevant
and not interesting to me. Again I'd like a link to attacks as I havn't read all his blog.
First point, Marty and myself support the tech, and I'd say the reason is on the order of revelatory miracles. Marty went exterior on a comm course I think he said. Among other things for me I controlled electrons. Don't ask, will all be told another day.
Marty mailed me and asked if I could recomend auditors prior to his blog and
after initial post on ESMB. Jim logan is on FZ forums and is a very theta guy.
We'd had a fair bit of comm. I think you know that Jim had real bad problems with Marty in COS. So I asked Jim is Marty to be trusted. Got very solid
re -assurences. So connected him to some highly qualified auditors. Good
results and referrals from Marty so far .
So Marty, Jim and I are very pro tech. So I'm disposed to be receptive to him.
He then does his thing with the SP times. The most effective attack on DM, and by implication the Church ever. Starts his blog which is pro tech.
I was critical of his euology re Earl Cooley.
Any way we meet. Really liked the guy and he is someone I'd like as a friend.
Marty's efforts have resulted in getting people out of the Church that I havn't been able to reach. Already connected people up to FZ techies.
It seems Marty has spent most of his time in SO dealing with attacks on COS.
Re the attack on Mayo he says that he has a different viewpoint now.
Not clarified much, like 3 hours in a pub with two conversations fugally intertwining? Says Mayo was a far better C/S int than Mithof.
Marty is not that happy with Mayo in that he took the money and ran so's to speak. And now is silent.
The legal case went on for 10 years, and Sarge Gerbode funded it. Was Sarge who said no more and ended it. Shame. Dunno if Marty knows that. Marty's words were that cos " Had its tits in a wringer" re that case. Should have gone on longer.
Marty made some sort of an apology to me re comments re Mayo, and it probably referred to a post of mine that he didn't allow on his blog. No big deal and resolved.

My guess is he got this idea from Veda.
So. I and Marty are pro tech.
I can't actually remember any time I made a very wrong judgement about a person.
Marty is agressive in the positive sense. He also shoots from the hip. He is though willing to change his viewpoint.
Hopefully Ax will give his viewpoint on all this.
