The majority of people posting on Marty’s blog are Scientologists. Scientologists are trained to react in a certain way whenever someone says anything that is ‘on source’, or ‘a win’ or ‘so theta’.

Jeeeeez, Ax, that conjured up a long and cringingly awful chain of GRIN-APPLAUD-STAND incidents that I may have participated in. Of course you are just making wild accusations against me because you have no DOX or VIDEO to prove your baseless accusations so just...just....stop evaluating and invalidating my wins.

Now that I am free of the cult, I can like or dislike anything I want.

I couldn't agree more. It's like people keep changing the wording looking to create "The Perfect Thread" which will then cause Mike and Marty will be "as-ised". I don't think they're going anywhere based on what anybody says here.

It's more like Marty is not going to ignore-ised by critics, which is a good thing. Ignore at your own peril.

I hate to interrupt this "conversation," since you guys have known each other far longer (decades?) far longer than I've been participating here (six months?), but the bigger question to me is:

Why in the world do a dozen people here talk about Marty and Mike so much? It seems quite clear that none of you like him. In fact, he irritates you all tremendously. But that's practically all you talk about.

I'll tell you what seems to take up the ESMB front page more than anything else (including AnonKat's threads) -- it's the topic of "Marty and/or Mike."

Good God, people, it's like you're his personal public relations agency! Is he paying you on the side to get him all this ink?

There are days -- and I am not kidding about this -- I've gone to Marty's blog to see what the fuss was about and noticed that the number of comments on his blog is smaller than the number of comments made here to the ESMB thread du jour about Marty and Mike that one of you started.

I don't get it.

But I know you'll explain it.

If you are a good reporter, who is really interested in covering the story of Mike and Marty and what they have to say, you'll find your way over to this board and read the feed back on what many EX's think about Mike and Marty.

Many of us don't like the way they are doing business. They are not here spilling their guts and taking responsibility for what they've done to many of us and many that are not here any longer. They are not apologetic. Instead they are still a couple of arrogant twits, that hip hip hooray LRH every chance they get.

Imo, their lack of "getting it" and have the real OT cog of "it's all shit" is dangerous.

They are like the Scn of the 60's and 70's-- all warm and fuzzy and a real trap for those uneducated about Scn and cults.

It's not about what Marty's readers do.

It's about learning how to become a better person, lead a better life...and what to do.

Traditionally, Scientologists encountering a difficult situation only needed to ask: "What would Ron do?"

Later, Scientologists could blow thru any dilemma by simply asking: "What would Dave do?"

And now, Scientologist can find both their moral compass and themselves by asking: "What would Marty do?"

It would be exponentially better for them if Scientologists started asking: "How did I ever get into all this do-do?"

And I finally left the whole thing behind by asking myself, "What would I do?"

So much for the bathwater AND the baby. Oh well. I'm a much freer person now.

Is it just me or is all that sycophantic gushing over on Marty's blog - for every single post that is written - simply an attempt to keep someone's ego propped up?

Or does it have a more sinister purpose?

At a time when real discussion of real issues should be happening in the independent world of Scientology, all that is allowed is highly controlled sycophantic gushing. You read the comments that appear on Marty's blog, and none of it is a discussion of any real issues. Each post is an expression of exalted admiration, gushing out from the sycophant in a state of enthusiastic thrall.

The only person who gets to make a point is the writer of the post. Everyone else has to clap and tell them how smart and great they are for doing what they are doing or for writing what they wrote.

What does the gushing do for the sycophant?

I'm reminded of the "Uptone Comm" of the Scientologist, where nothing but praise was ever allowed for LRH and the tech. Pretty soon you get yourself so "blown out" from all the appreciation you gush that you stop thinking of anything else.

The tech seems to be this:

1. Create a sycophant

2. Get him gushing.

3. Keep him gushing.

4. Good.

5. Now gush some more.

6. All right.

Pretty soon, he's got himself in such a state of religious fervor that he's blind to all the ill-effects happening around him.

I think that's the intention, and that's the product: Gushing sycophants who are blind to the real issues they themselves face, and are supporting you with time, energy and money because you are so awesome.
