I had an idea! I loosely follow most of the scientology opponents on the internet and it occurred to me that there are camps of different styles, sizes and flavours of opponents to the cult of scientology. Maybe it might be a good idea to form a common identification throughout the world, especially on and for the internet, to show membership in the common front of bringing down the cult?

The global i.d. would be a group that might have a member from each opponent overseeing just the basics of the group: it's identification and membership,... something kept simple.

The group name or acronym and even a logo could be placed on the site of every opponent to show the world the many faces of we, the opponents. This acronym & logo would be instantly identified by people searching for information on the cult. Something like: we are a member of part of the World Wide Opponent of the Cult of Scientology: WWOCS.

The idea came to me after clicking links from OCB... many of the opponents use acronyms and are easily identifiable: OCB, WWP, ESMB, ARS, etc. The acronym example above would appear on the site: ESMB We are a WWOCS. Even the acronym alone would soon be accepted throughout the network of opponents. Signs could be made at protests with the acronym and it's full name, an instant protest banner in itself!

Any logo could be used. Any few people with some time on their hands could contribute to this. I would.

Just an idea. :confused2:

Also, does anyone know how to use that strike though character seen so often at WWP?

If you can turn HTML when you are posting use, <s>word < /s> to place a line through your word.By the way <s> is short for <strike> just in case you are interested.

There are interesting points of "forming a group" in this (not a popular) video from Anon:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqaFdTpElmw

From the text:

Throughout the history of humanity, there have been many great evils, and each fell in time once they overextended their reach. In this society of informational awareness, it is comforting to see such a cancer be caught so early, but I can't help but see its rise and eventual eradication as nothing more than the next turn of the great wheel.

It seems that humanity is incapable of an autonomous collective, which is why socialism never succeeds. Despite our innate need to rule all we see, we are hypocritically also governed by a need to be issued orders. Leave a group of people to their own devices, they will elect a leader, make a government, and create a god. We seem unable to exist without the guidance of a higher power, which is disheartening. We are not a group calling ourselves anonymous. We are a group united by a goal. This is a point that has been missed so many times it seems to invalidate itself in its own practice.

Where once I thought it amazing to see how people could band together for a common goal, I see now that it's simply history repeating itself yet again, sans the bloodshed of old. Perhaps it is both the dismay that as long as humans exist, terrible people will continue to rise to power, and the happiness that, with every empire formed, it will eventually fall to ruin.

And ruination is, sadly, all we can hope for in this world, as humans are far more wont to destroy than create, and indeed we are far more proficient in the former, if only to make up for our incredible inability to perform the latter. In a world where evolution is $3.50 at a vending machine on the corner, where rocket men focus on the vast expanse of space more than the world below, where all races walk freely across the land, and where the average man contests the secrets of the universe in his spare time, I see the future plainly before me, listening to his Ipod as he walks down the street. This is your Arcadia, your grand divine.

May you find the answers you're looking for, and may you bring an end to the wheel's endless turning.

But ESMB isn't an opponent of Scientology, Zorg. It isn't even really an opponent of the Church of Scientology, although most posters swing that way.

I think you "catch my drift" Paul... it's a semantics issue. What we do, OCB does, WWP does, AGP does, etc. etc... we all have a common element. WHAT is that common element? That would end the semantics discussion. There would be the logo discussion/argument/flame war and the troll contributions and the osa contributions and the "I'm always right, you're always wrong" camp and the................

It's just an idea. :confused2:

Well, if you want to include all the independents and FZers, then we're all against the official organisation of Scn doing bad things. Simple as that. If you make it any more specific, then we start to have differences.

Well, I have always been of the opinion that data such as the above should not be mentioned! - The 'ludicrous cover' notwithstanding.. And claims off non-existence..

But I'm just oldfashioned as I've been told.. By someone whose name is best left unsaid!

Carry on! - And STFU about sensitive stuff!

Lol, this is as "simple" as the English language. :confused2:

Against the Official Organisation of Scn Doing Bad Things: the AOOSDBT!

Semantics again, but does not "against" translate into "opponent"?

People Opposing the Cult of Scientology. POCS.

World Wide Critics of the Church of Scientology. WWCCS or even W2C2S, or to creatively expand on that... WC2S.

I think this is a good idea, especially as I had it myself. Something that would make it clear what we are all doing, regardless of Xenu, Longcat, and all the other jokes.

To strike out I used to type [STRIKE] and then [/STRIKE].

Incidentally I was, and remain, puzzled by the Worldwide Opponent of Scientology Opponents since that would make me an opponent of myself.

As Nick says, the only general point of agreement is that of being against CofS abuses. Hell, you might even get the CofS to agree with that one (PR only, but they would say it)!

You want a nice acronym then? Let's see. If it's going to end with "against Church of Scientology abuses" you're stuck with . . . ACOSA. You can have fun playing around with COSANOSTRA, but it's been taken :)

Groups against . . . : GACOSA
People against . . . : PACOSA

You can go the "for" route, which gives more options, as you can go for CofS "clean-up," or "reform," or "sanitation," etc. etc.

Groups for . . . :G4COS*
People for . . . : P4COS*
Citizens Commission for . . . :CCCOS*

None of those exactly grab me. Sorry.
