About Leonard Cohen - I believe he was getting his power processing at the New York Org after which he left the church. This was when the NYO was in the Hotel Martinique. He didn't have the time to go to Saint Hill, but NYO had some Power Auditors who were delivering it to contracted staff at the time. A name I didn't see on that long list of celebs was John Hammond jr, who played at an event there one Saturday evening - It is my understanding he was OT6 at the time. This was also back in the late 60's. I recall being told you can see his clear bracelet on the album jacket photo where he's wearing a snake skin outfit.

Skip has a great article about some of the celebs he's met and their skirmishes with Scientology at the Morton report, which Tony O brings up in this latest post:

The most amazing humongous celeb list that Skip links to is:

Another factoid Richard O'Kane told me - he used to have a macrobiotic restaurant in NYC - called the East Village Other if I recall correctly. I think Richard was OT 3 - I knew him well for a while, and I believe he was telling the truth - one of his waitresses was Yoko Ono. She quit working for him when she got involved with John Lennon.

I have no clue if he ever disseminated to her or not.

i love cohen. in fact it was seeing his recommendation quoted in the window of the berkeley mission on shattuck one day in '71 that made me decide to seriously examine it and then sign up for HAS

i think hubbard's work greatly influenced his best lyrics

Mimsey, I remember John Hammond's success story published in a fancy dark blue Classic Laid
cover booklet of OT success stories from the early 70's. Was impressed at the time. Funny how
I remember these things in such vivid detail, but I do for some reason.

Interesting look from the distant past.

Scientology: The Art of L. Ron Hubbard

April 21, 1970

http://www.thecrimson.com/article/1970/4/21/scientology-the-art-of-l-ron/

Excerpt:

"Scientology is growing. According to the Cambridge Center, the worldwide movement now has over three million members and increases six fold every year. The list of prominent Scientologists includes actor Stephen Boyd, Salvador Dali, Donovan, Mama Cass. Leonard Cohen, blues singer John Hammond, the Incredible String Band, two of the Gateful Dead, science-fiction writer Ray Bradbury, and others. If Scientology is actually the bridge to a world of super-things, there seem to be some exceptional people on that bridge now. You do want to be on the winning side, don't you? It's later than you think."

Hello Mimsey, I have been trying for years to find the family of Richard O'Kane, his wife Arminta, daughter Marilyn and son Richard. I last saw Marilyn in about 1969 just before Richard took them to California from NYC to join the Church of Scientology. I would love to connect with Marilyn and would be grateful for any information you could share. PS, I believe the restaurant was called the Paradox - for which there is a FB page. Thanks! Helen

"The blue book".

It was the one with the blue painting of LRH on the cover that you almost couldn't see because it was all done in subtle shadows. By a Scientology painter whose name I can't remember now. (Something Glick? Does that ring a bell?) He had some kind of an art studio in LA.
