TROIS-RIVIÈRES – Opponents of Narconon Trois-Rivières held a demonstration on Sunday afternoon outside the rehab center based on the teachings of the Church of Scientology.
About twenty people, most of them masked, arrived at the stroke of noon in front of the facility located on Parent Boulevard. Many of them were there as part of the Anonymous collective, a group known for its fight against Scientology.
The organizer of the gathering was David Edgar Love, a former patient and employee of Narconon who has been fighting against Narconon since he managed to leave in 2009.
"I saw the horrors that went on here and the people that had to be taken to hospital," he said, "so we want to inform the public about the dangerous methods used at Narconon."
Mr. Love, a native of British Columbia, is hoping that the Quebec government will set rules to prevent any form of abuse.
"This is a dangerous process and Quebec must have regulations to protect the safety of its citizens, as well as of Canadians and Americans, since many patients come from very far away," he added.
"Narconon boasts that it has a 70% success rate, but in fact it's an 80% failure rate. I know, because it was my job to compile figures about all this when I was an employee here."
Among the twenty-some demonstrators, few were natives of Trois-Rivières and most were from all across Quebec and even from Ottawa.
Victory
Despite the seriousness of the accusations that the group levels against Narconon, this annual protest had a festive air on Sunday because the Quebec government revoked the rehab center's certification on April 10. With their portable stereo in hand, the demonstrators did not hesitate to celebrate what they consider a victory.
"I am very happy with the government's decision," rejoiced Mr. Love. "We know there are still staff in the facility and that there is still some activity here, because we flew over the area on Saturday in an airplane that we rented. It's a way to celebrate."
The group paid tribute to those who are said to have died as a result of inappropriate treatment in the various Narconon centers around the world. A similar demonstration was also held at the same time in Oklahoma.

Dear Marty,
I don’t know what you’ve been smoking or inhaling the past few weeks – - perhaps brain cells and thinking are so encrypted in tiny scilon boxes of nonsense and lies? Wake up and smell the coffee man, your beloved Narconons are being flushed down the crapper one by one. I suggest you get behind the eight-ball or if you’re buying them – - stop and put down the glass pipe.

Your doing a great job! I'm pro purif tech but not without insufficient medical
supervision including liver tests.
I met a distinguished critic of Narconon is San Francisco. She told me
that those doing this possibly had compromised livers and perhaps other body parts due to long term drug abuse. Thus a possible danger for large doses of niacin.
Met two auditors for Narconon who told me most on the program took it as an easy way out compared to jail and were not interested in leaving drugs or reforming.
And the government pays $30,000 per hit?
Did it twice, its excellent IMO.
But needs excellent medical supervision. I didn't. But others do.
So I applaud your intensive work. You are a hero!!!!
I think the infamous L. Ron Hubbard had a complete misconception of what drug addiction is. The stigma of a drug addict hiding in back alleys, robbing the elderly, and the most despised in society, is simply not the case. In fact at Narconon, one might be surprised at who the patients were and where they came from. Yes, some were completely dysfunctional and unable to be productive members of society, but many were quite productive, well educated, and owned and operated successful businesses.
At Narconon Trois-Rivieres, we had a TV Sports Newscaster, an employee from Google, a daughter from a prestigious horse racing breeder stable, professional golfer, NHL Hockey player, musicians, successful business owners, and the list goes on and on. Many of these had College and University degrees and they certainly did not suffer from misunderstood words.
Whoever told you this, didn't know what he was talking about. Only two out of 76 patients at NN TR were there instead of chosing jail. The following is from Page 46-47 of my New Book (draft only text - not edited yet):
The Narconon fees of $30,000 were ALL paid by the patients or Sponsors. NONE were paid by our government. None.
Thank you for your kind words
.
The two auditors I refer to worked at Narconon at an earlier time, maybe as long ago as 20 years and in the US. Possibly LA.
They told me that most on the programme were doing it in Lieu of jail time.
Its possible that I dubbed in that the government paid for the service. Or
maybe they told me that. Maybe others here know how its gone in the US.
If the courts oeder someone to a narconon programme who pays?
